Video is totally style over substance imo, and another example of a male artist feeling the need to assert his heterosexuality & think that's a good enough concept for a video. ;o (I mean I know the song = sex, but the video could have been more inventive than that surely?). Idk, it left me feeling cold. I don't feel the need to watch it again. x

This is fantastic! Exactly what he needed I think. Seems really short though! Also I find it annoying the way he pronounces "better day"! but other than that, its great. Pretty much what I expected and wanted.

Edit: as for the video, it's very good. But yeah a bit TOO style over substance and he seems bored shitless! :/

I love the song, I think it's amazing, I also agree, that it doesn't sound all that different from a 1D song tbh, i mean plus some heavy R&B influences, and swearing . But i have to agree, I found the video a complete non-event, which is a shame because the song is really good. Would have liked something more creative, or sexy, or just something else tbh, idk.

The song would be ok as an album track, but how is it considered as a lead single?
His voice is very good on it, but it doesn't make up for the lack of a proper melody.

I think I like it, in some aspects it is roughly what I expected and it sounds relatively solid on the first listen. It's kind of like a Weeknd track with a chorus like The Wanted might do (I'm not just saying that because it uses the word "warzone").

I quite like the video.

The production is more experimental than most of their stuff and the intro & verses have a lot more of an RnB vibe. But it's the chorus specifically for me, which melodically sounds like it could have fitted onto one of 1D's most recent albums.

And I don't mean it as a criticism, 1D have put out some really decent, mature stuff over the past 2/3 albums, it's just funny given Zayn's recent comments.

Completely what I imagined and wanted from him. I always thought he should make similar music to Travis Garland (one of my fav male solo artists) and this could so be on his last EP. Sexy, melodic and outstanding production values. He has always been my fav for a reason (outwith being the hottest human known to man).

I like all... my only concern is he's over-singing (or a little bit too screechy) for me on the chorus. I feel like a softer Weekend-esque vocal would fit better?! I also agree with the 1D things but I think it's because he had such significant parts on their songs...

Hmmm, this is actually quite good, I can't personally hear 1D's sound at all in here and the sort of direction he should be going in, it's like...a Chris Brown record but actually good (albeit that is rare). Though the swearing and the totally non subtle sex references does grate on me a bit, they just seem like he's trying too hard to make it clear he's moved on and is 'adult' now, when it really should naturally. I love this song so much, and I agree with Chez about the f***ING line, it's very jarring and feels too forced.

But I found the clean edit on Spotify and it sounds much better for me. 'f***ing' is replaced by 'loving'.

I really it. It's exactly what I expected (sounds just like something that could have been on Nick Jonas' album.) It's a shame he said the things he did about One Direction and their music because his solo stuff was always going to be compared, but will be even more so now, and unfortunately so far Zayn's sound is not a million miles away from their sound. But perhaps it doesn't need to be.

The song has grown on me a lot and I really like it! I still think it really isn't suited to radio as it lacks a proper melody.

But yeah, if I can put Zayn's attitude/comments/non-charisma aside, I should enjoy this song for a while.

I wasn't too keen on this originally but it's been in my head a lot too, a strong chorus which definitely outshine the verses but he sounds good on it all. The 'bed all day' bits are my favourite parts but it's quite a good introduction single on the whole, not too far from 1D's sound which is pleasing, hope the album is just as similar yet still a bit more edgy.

I am so on board with this now after giving it a little while. He's very much going for a commercialised Miguel sound, as has been said, so it's no real surprise that the track subtly crept up on me and made its mark after several listens. Such a fresh sounding UK #1 single too.
