good to see Loud Luxury appear here. must say I prefer 'Body' (it'll be high in my EOY) but this is great too, shame it underperformed.

Gorgon City Motorola - Chart Statistics NE (10/03/2018) | 32-12-10-13-14-16-18-27-31-36-58-76-82-84-xx Video Commentary Gorgon City put out way too much music all the time for me to keep track of it and remember to listen (I mean, I'd forgotten half of the songs that charted for me existed) but this was one I'm glad I didn't miss. Pretty simple by itself, this song is such an earworm and is perfect for the summer sunny months. Shame it was released in March. They've had a decent number of bangers since this but this was both the best and the longest running! (10 weeks for a #10 peaker was a LONG time back in March ) Top 100 Chart History 2016 30 Zoom Zoom (Gorgon City ft. Wyclef Jean) 2016 06 Smile (Gorgon City ft. Kodaline Head Held High - Chart Statistics NE (01/09/2018) | 27-22-14-17-12-11-10-19-18-26-31-48-75-76-96-xx Video Commentary Three songs that peaked at #10 in a row, what a coincidence Or maybe not that much since I've just tweaked my ordering once again as this was a little too high for my likings. This came after a few fairly mediocre singles from Kodaline, but I was still hanging onto how amazing Brother was, and this was a cheerful and uplifting enough song to grab my radar. I think the video is definitely one of my favourite things about the song and certainly boosted it up my chart, but I don't think the number of weeks it spent in the 11-20 section before hitting the Top 10 should gift it a higher chart position when it's nowhere near as good as some of the songs which would have been below it. Still fairly enjoyable though! The Knocks Brazilian Soul (ft. Sofi Tukker) - Chart Statistics NE (06/10/2018) | 72-35-12-7-6-6-9-13-23-38-66-... Video Commentary I've pushed this down a few more places since I mentioned it last as well. This didn't do much for me at first but it really grew on me during my first few weeks at Uni - I would say it was one of the first songs I was listening to a lot that I hadn't found before I went. This grew fairly quickly into a Top 10 hit, but also faded away pretty quickly as well - quick enough to fall down my EOY even after I had finalised my Top 100. Still love the smooth vibes though. I honestly thought this was going to get them a second hit after it began to shoot up Spotify, a real shame it fell from there Thanks Dan! LOVE Motorola one of their best ever tracks! It really is an earworm isn't it Thanks Dobbo! |

Billy Lockett My Only Soul - Chart Statistics NE (01/09/2018) | 54-46-27-19-16-17-15-21-33-44-48-53-56-55-57-74-... Video Commentary Another song about souls, but this one doesn't have anything to do with Brazil. A Billy Lockett song ('Old Man') was entered to BJSC last year, and it was a song I actually really enjoyed. Unfortunately he decided to delete that and all his other previous work from every possible channel, which was a shame as I would certainly have followed him further. As it happened, I re-discovered Billy by complete co-incidence as I was looking for a way of salvaging anything from Alle Farben's year and saw that he had done a remix of Feels So Good - turns out I preferred (and charted) the original. This was the follow-up to that, and whilst it's a song that I really like I don't have much else to say about it so I'm glad I wrote that big long paragraph. Not sure why it's this high though oops. Creye Christina - Chart Statistics NE (01/09/2018) | 48-18-10-8-7-9-17-31-46-62-65-63-81-89-100-... Video Commentary I've left the three dots there but let's face it, a song which has fallen to #100 the week before the Christmas takeover isn't going to be spending another week in the chart. My second charting BJSC entry this year (either La Louze charted last year or I forgot to include it oops but it's still amazing), I entered this the week it entered as the highest non-American song which was obscure enough to be a contender. They've yet to have another hit but I've seen that they've actually released a follow-up so I should probably check that out. Top 100 Chart History 2018 07 Christina |

Lucy Spraggan Stick the Kettle On (ft. Scouting For Girls) - Chart Statistics NE (15/09/2018) | 48-35-30-20-18-10-13-21-28-26-33-36-43-48-... Video Commentary I first heard about this when it was climbing somewhat high in the iTunes chart and everyone got really excited and thought that it might do something officially. Of course it didn't because the charts are hideously stagnant but it was enough to get me to listen to it. This was a real grower and an incredibly uplifting piece as well, talking about not judging yourself for what happens in your life. It's something we all need to hear I think, and yay for seeing both of these artists back. Top 100 Chart History Lucy Spraggan 2018 10 Stick the Kettle On (Lucy Spraggan ft. Editors Magazine - Chart Statistics NE (10/02/2018) | 44-29-8-7-6-5-8-27-43-58-73-86-87-xx Video Commentary This was the first time I had heard any Editors in quite a long time, and whilst it didn't grab me initially, I was intrigued. Of course then it grew to finally end up in the Top 5. The chorus is definitely the best part of the song and to some extent the only part that I really remember - when the blurry wavey verse starts it still takes me a while to actually remember what song I'm listening to. Editors still have another tune to come though! Top 100 Chart History 2018 05 Magazine 2018 38 Darkness at the Door 2018 06 Cold |

Nicky Romero & Deniz Koyu Paradise (ft. Walk Off the Earth) - Chart Statistics NE (06/10/2018) | 28-13-7-6-10-13-18-25-34-47-68-... Video Commentary Nicky Romero is one of those artists who releases a load of stuff and I just ignore most of it, but when I do listen I love it. The incentive behind me listening to this one was obviously the ingenious Canadian group Walk Off The Earth, who will have a few Christmassy tracks to add to their already impressive chart history tomorrow. After waiting for ages to finally get my hands on Fifth Avenue, the second bus came at the same time so to speak with this dance track. I don't really know where the other four members of Walk Off the Earth feature on this song but it's a tune in its own right and deserves its place here! Lukas Graham Stick Around - Chart Statistics NE (03/11/2018) | 9-4-6-5-8-10-15-... Video Commentary The second of five Lukas Graham tracks to grace the Top 100, this is the real emotional one on the album. It's another song to his daughter, but this time he's talking about the fact that he will die before she does, and that the memories he makes with her will one day make her sad as he will no longer be there. This one made me really upset when I first heard it because I was still feeling somewhat homesick at Uni and all the memories I had of going out with family made me a little sad. But I wanted to keep listening, and it's that poignancy that shot it so high up my chart. Top 100 Chart History 2016 01 7 Years 2016 09 Golden (Brandon Beal ft. Tessa Violet Crush - Chart Statistics NE (25/08/2018) | 38-19-12-12-9-11-24-29-45-56-72-75-76-76-80-82-82-... Video Commentary So here's the only dose of cheese you're getting this EOY. And I've spent the last 10 songs pushing it up so be happy. This is one of those sorts of songs that I can 'decide' whether to get on board with so to speak, and I'd decided to pretty much ignore Peg Whatserface from the last BJSC with a similar song, but this one grabbed my attention a bit more. Not on first listen particularly, but on my second listen it flew into my votes. The video, what with all the reverse effects and stuff grabbed my attention as well, and whilst I thought I was going off it when it peaked at #9 I'm still thoroughly on board, hence the lengthy stay in the lower realms of my chart. Ryan O'Shaughnessy Together - Chart Statistics NE (19/05/2018) | 7-5-3-2-5-11-18-23-30-44-67-80-83-95-xx Video Commentary We were driftin' like two oicebergs... Anyway, here's our next Eurovision entry and another which peaked at #2. Britain's Got Talent reject who was brought back and subsequently made the final Ryan O'Shaughnessy actually came into Eurovision with a really smooth track which didn't grab me on first listen but really got me in the recap. It's an amazing song and the instrumentation is really good. Oh and I'm probably supposed to mention something about the video/dancing being about two men in a relationship as well. Quite like 'Paradise', though it wasn't quite memorable enough to make my weekly chart it's better than most of what Nicky Romero does these days.
