Hiya 😍 another decade has ended and thus it's time to reflect on the tunes that have been most impactful.

This will be based on general opinion of the songs and where I personally feel they rate to me rather than going off any chart runs etc...although some of those chart runs will certainly position specific songs better than others.

I should think middle of Jan should be a good time to start roughly as I'm in the process of sorting through the songs (and looking through old charts etc). I will give a heads up that songs from 2018 2019 won't be featured very much as I feel like music quality has dipped drastically (personal opinion perhaps) and have been struggling to even do 100's and this year couldn't even compile one as I only had like 17 songs including bjsc (although other bjsc tracks probably would have filled upto at least 30 based by default).

I'd love to see some comments as always as it helps with the pace etc.. I know I haven't been posting as much as I used to but I should comment on others charts as well!

See you soonish!

I am beginning the top 150 tomorrow but firstly here's a HUGE list of songs that aren't in my top 150 but are notable shouts regardless! (had accidently scrubbed some songs over the weekend so took me a while trying to remember what was deleted by accident along with other tracks that I liked that either weren't in my weekly charts or EOYs at all but this should be all accurate now, and a lot of the songs are in here from digging through my EOY charts etc but the top 150 positions aren't completely reflective of these chart runs, eoy positions except from some songs!)

So first up we have the Scissor Sisters with what was their comeback single at the time from 2010 following the massive Ta-Dah era. 'Fire with Fire' perhaps a bit of change of pace for them from a lead single perspective as they ususally started off with big upbeat pop songs so for them to lead the Night Work era off with a ballad was nice!

for interest sakes this was the chart run for the song!

2010 EOY #10

Coming off the successful lead single 'Ghost', Ella Henderson released her 2nd single 'Glow' which notched up another top 10 hit in October 2014. It managed to make the top of my chart too as I found this stunning especially as it was released through the winter period, it just kinda suited the time of the year and is still to this day very underrated. 5 years on and Ella is only just returning to the charts after being AWOL for several years! Olly Murs upbeat 'Up' featuring duet vocals from Demi Lovato comes in at 148. There's two appearances for Eurovision entries (and winners at that), the first coming from Denmark's 2013 winner Emmelie De Forest with 'Only Teardrops'. This was really euphoric and the performance at the contest was really special too. At 146 we have Macklemore who was a hot commodity in the early half of the 10's.. some thought he was the new Eminem which there were definitely signs of but unfortunately longevity was faded somewhat in latter years with his last hit of sorts coming in 2015. Rewinds to 2013 though and this powerful song 'Same Love' themed about LGBT and marriage was a rightful success.. reaching top 10 in the UK picking up a 3rd consecutive top 10 for Mack in that year. Lovely song!

All females group here as Ella Eye 'Together' , Kelly Clarkson 'Heartbeat Song', Pink 'Million Dreams' , Billie Eilish 'Bad Guy' & Alexis Jordan 'Happiness' appear as we approach the top 140. Billie representing 2019 as the only song from the year to show up. Ella also hasn't managed to successfully get a solo hit but she was scoring hits in my chart especially with the pop tune 'Together'. Kelly Clarkson's 2015 smash about her child topped my chart for a couple of weeks and Pink's rendition of the greatest showman soundtrack was so much better than the original.. lovely version and really easy to listen and was released at the perfect time with Christmas just coming up. Alexis Jordan sadly has become very much forgotten quickly these days but her first couple of singles were very popular and gave Alexis back to back top 10's in the chart. 'Good Girl' was decent but I never loved it but 'Happiness' was immediately a song I loved. The song did very well in my chart reaching the top 3 and lasting 15+ weeks in my chart back in 2010 (Ah feel really old :') As with regards to the future you never know she could always pop up with a surprise hit again someday even if those odds are incredibly slim!

No.140 goes to The Weeknd's 2nd single from the Starboy era in which he joined up with dance legends Daft Punk to produce funky, superb songs. 'I Feel It Coming' wins out of the two main singles what with it being his most Michael Jackson soundalike song to date. I mean you really can't unhear the King of Pop's voice in him on it. With a song that harks back to the 60's next.. Portugal. The Man's 'I Feel It Still' was a song I didn't initially get until I heard it in the car when it first entered the top 40 and it clicked (was only my 2nd listen of it) and then till this day I really do enjoy the song a lot still, packed with a catchy hook and chorus. The fact that it charted then fell out of the top 40 then came back and then avoided ACR to race up to the top 5 in the next year was incredible. Highlighting it's mega popularity in the process!

Sia started off this decade being an extremely underrated artist who never quite broke the barrier as a big star.. that was until her collab with David Guetta came in 2011 (which will show up later). She released her first proper breakthrough album in 2014 (the first to commercially to take off in a big way, I know she scored a couple of top 10's a whole 10 Years earlier but they weren't necessarily monster hits) and spawned several hits.. 'Elastic Heart' the 2nd release from 1000 forms of fear ends up at 138! Back to back Essex pop stars Pixie Lott & Olly Murs place 137 & 136 respectively. 'Turn It Up' was a fine pop song and 'You Don't Know Love' is amongst my favourites of his, it was good to see Olly release another mature sounding song too!

I'd sort of forgotten about Fire With Fire but it's was another great track from them! Only Teardrops was a favourite from that year's Eurovision as well, and Feel it Still was a real earworm also, glad it got the success it deserved.

Little Mix banger 'Touch' lands at 135 whilst Dua Lipa's debut single (which ended up becoming her 3rd release under the re release rule) 'Be The One' sits at 134. This was ready to be entered by Mulgracia into BJSC in November 2015 until it was vetoed because of the song getting slow building hype and support from radio stations! Paloma Faith's 'Only Love Can Hurt like This' released in early 2014 comes in at 133 whilst X Factor Winner James Arthur is in at 132, 'Impossible' was in my honest opinion (soz haters) one of the best X Factor winning singles and I really liked the original as well which peaked inside my top 10 2 years prior. Unfortunetly aside from 'Recovery' James Arthur hasn't released anything notably good in 5 years. Lastly Ed Sheeran who just is completely everywhere all the time without taking a break (which he desperately needs ASAP) hogged the charts in 2017 especially in the first couple of weeks of that year occupying the top 2. A shame that the much superior imo, 'Castle On The Hill' never got a turn at the top when SOY was always there as for me I would put this quite highly in his best songs which is quite evident here as this song is his first of only 2 appearances in my best of decade chart.. sitting at 131 is 'Castle On The Hill'!

Pink's cover of A Million Dreams is sensational, so glad to see it here wub.gif Doesn't get near enough love on Buzzjack I feel.

I Feel It Coming and Be The One are two of my absolute favorite songs of 2016-2017 wub.gif

One of the few decent Chris Brown tracks 'Beautiful People' lands at 130 as the former Hannah Montana actress Miley Cyrus comes up at 129 with 'Wrecking Ball', this was a very odd video to say the least and I've read that Miley regrets the sledgehammer stuff now. A couple of big dance hits follow suits from Rudimental with their debut single from 2012 featuring vocals from John Newman who without seeing his face at the time you could mistaken for an old man lol.. 'Feel The Love' was a huge smash in the summer. 'I Could Be The One' released the following year was a big hit in the charts long before Avicii dominated the rest of the year, the video is very fun and features scenes of a woman living her best life! Finally in this batch we have the returning Celine Dion (at the time) with 'Loved Me Back To Life', a strong return to form for the Canadian legend!

Wrecking Ball wub.gif One of the defining ballads of the 10's I think.

We come to the last of the Eurovision winners (and songs in general) with 2012's 'Euphoria' by Loreen, a huge favourite amongst the nation and Buzzjack. 'Firestone' by Kygo, 'Havana' by Camilla Cabello ft Young Thug & 'Cool Me Down' by Margaret all place at no.s 124, 123 & 122 respectively. Margaret especially is a former Summericia artist a few years ago and this was a breezy pop banger from 2016 which sadly never did anything in England sad.gif Lawson's 'Learn To Love Again' winds up at 121 on the decade chart.. this was easily my favourite from them, they haven't released much recently but I always quite liked Lawson.. they reminded me of early 2000's boy group BB Mak!

At the start of the decade brought us the first offering of Bruno Mars, having already featured on a no.1 hit a few month prior, released his first proper single.. 'Just The Way You Are' which was huge and really set him off on a very successful career as a musician! The very saucy 'S&M' by Rihanna who at the time loved to have red hair to spice up her hair style comes in at 119. 'Human' the effortless first single from Christina Perri's 2nd album comes up at no.118 whilst the emotional 'Piece By Piece' from the Queen Kelly Clarkson who by this time was still as relevant as ever storms in to 117 place. This is one of those no dry eye in the room songs and is evident in the above video link from when she performed it on the contest she won in 2002, American Idol. One contest winner to another as Matt Cardle linked up with Spice Girl, Mel C for a brilliant collaboration 'Loving You' at 116.. it was such a joy to follow the week it was released and see how well it was doing on iTunes at the time where it ultimately finished top 15 in the UK Chart!

Demi Lovato's 'Skyscraper' heads into 115, a really empowering song this as Demi sings about coming back fighting and being stronger from whatever demons you've been going through. The song that was played at Kim and Kanye's wedding or so Jameela Jamil reminded us every week on the chart 'All of Me' by the CHART SAVIOUR John Legend is here at 114. Another appearance from Ella Eyre with 'Deeper' a soulful sultry pop song lands at 113 and at 111 we have the rockers Halestorm fronted by Izzy Hale with 'Apocalyptic'. As mentioned in my EOY from 2018.. I saw Halestorm in September 2018 and they kicked ass, was a great gig but a shame this wasn't performed sad.gif AND at no. 112 (i know I switched numbers around but this is 112) we have the first showing off a Summericia entry 'Dive' from Dennis Sheperd and this majestic piece of trance flopped in the contest although it wasn't too far off qualifying but yeah. This is stunning and so is my other trance entry from BJSC which is coming later on!

I just rediscovered 'Learn To Love Again' about a week ago, it still sounds amazing wub.gif

Very happy to see Christina Perri here, and 'Euphoria' too although that should be higher! (But for all I know it could be #125 on mine too tongue.gif)

Almost exactly 10 years ago now, boy how time flies.. Australian pop star Gabriella Cilmi was 'On A Mission' and still to this day is her last hit as her follow up singles from this album flopped and she has unfortunetly slipped into irrelevance with not much of note since. This catchy pop record topped my personal chart and still sounds as fresh, even from giving it a play recently on Spotify. Back to back Rihanna next as both her massive hits from 2011 place 109 & 108, firstly the club banger with Calvin Harris 'We Found Love' which still gets consistent radio play especially on Heart FM & the other witn the infectious Oh Na Na line.. 'What's My Name' which features upcoming rapper at the time Drake, who we only know now has gone to become a juggernaught in the charts and funnily enough has swapped places with Rihanna who hasn't released much new material since 2017.

BJSC time and we wind it back to 2015 as Sandra Lyng released a scorcher dance track in 'Play My Drum'. I'm kinda a sucker for this type of vocal dance and the song was entered into the contest the same month I registered to join even though this and a certain song that won a month prior to that were both songs I discovered and ultimately were the reason behind me joining in the first place.. Oh how I should have signed up earlier in 2015. Oh well. This reached 2nd place which was a wonderful result imo. London Grammar' 'Strong' which rightfully was a semi sized hit and was a song that just grew on me every time and was really captivating by just how mellow and beautiful it is sits at 106!
