Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello could make it a third week at #1 with Senorita. Potential new entries include Taylor Swift's The Archer and Liam Gallagher's Once taken from their upcoming albums

Ed Sheeran should remain at #1 in the album chart, while Kaiser Chiefs' seventh record Duck can give them another top 5 placing. New releases come from Of Monsters & Men with Fever Dream, returning ska group The Dualers, Chance The Rapper and NF

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.

so sure he'll be top 10 now, either this week or next

I think Outnumbered probably has a small chance at creeping in, seems to be moving up significantly on iTunes and still climbing Spotify and Apple Music too.

Outnumbered is now 40-ish on both Apple and Spotify so agree he could make it

Do we have Kylie's position?

Kaiser Chiefs look likely to lose the Number 2 position and move down to 3 to make way for Lewis Capaldi.
Freya Ridings will likely lose the Number 4 position to Billie Eilish.

Probably zero new entries *.* phreshness. I wonder if Scott will even bother pretending this week's chart is 'a massive one' like he usually does.

Only just noticed Freya's album still being at #4, holding up pretty well at least to start with then!

Posted by: Spiceboy 30th July 2019, 09:11 PM

Looks like Kaiser Chiefs can kiss that #2 position goodbye with just 400 sales yesterday! I imagine they won't be getting many streams and they will be mostly physicals which at least means more money for them.

Joseph is not the most reliable person when it comes to what might go top 10 tbh #phoenix

BTS moved to the compilations?

Posted by: danG 31st July 2019, 04:25 PM

what a thrilling chart...

when was the last time the top 40 had no new entries outside of New Year then?

Weirdly it's not in either chart right now!

Kygo & Whitney *should* be okay for top 10 - Sigala & Becky are at #11 and the gap between them has increased by about 100 copies since yesterday. Perhaps MIST (currently #9) and Dominic will leapfrog but I'd be surprised to see it lower than #10.

(insert comment about Phoenix)

interesting, that era seemed to be the peak of slow charts and we're slowly returning to those despite all the rule amendments the OCC have made since.
I suspect there'll be another be re-think of the rules come January due to this and the top 12 of non-movers we had recently.

3 Nights top 10 at last!

I hope so, I was looking forward to a shake-up of the rules this Summer and then it didn't really happen (barring the 25% reset which only makes the chart even staler)

Posted by: Bjork 31st July 2019, 05:16 PM

just noticed 3 Nights Is finally top 10 yay!

Posted by: pippa 31st July 2019, 06:03 PM

Kylie still doing ok.

Posted by: dobbo 31st July 2019, 06:09 PM

They always change something every July so next year there'll be another big overhaul.

Posted by: gavindeejay 31st July 2019, 07:22 PM

Great to see 3 Nights in the Top 10. Does that mean ‘Old Town Road’ is out of the Top 10?

Posted by: Hadji 31st July 2019, 07:26 PM

Jax Rexha is now 59p on iTunes so hopefully that will help it into the top 40 on Friday

Zero new entries FFS, what's the flipping point? There are contemporary bands that play the flipping O2 Arena and songs which Radio 1 and other big stations play to death that can't even crack the Top 100. Seriously starting to wonder if the singles chart should just be scrapped. There once was a time when you could tell how big a band was by simply looking at their chart positions. I might keep following the chart until we know whether Whitney is or isn't bagging a surprise posthumous #1 then just start completely ignoring it. It's no wonder so many people are posting their own http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/Personal-Charts-f3.html. In fact, only about 40-50 people ever contribute to http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=224445 but I would imagine it's a pretty diverse range of people and is much more engrossing to follow, even if the generic GRM Daily landfill urban songs don't do as well. It's just a shame as songs simply having a Top 40 presence makes them seem bigger and more exciting. But almost everything is locked out. About 75% of the 2019 singles I like could be regarded as 'flops' if we use the Top 40 as a barometer of popularity, and it's depressing. In other news, I just found out I share a birthday with Octavian when trying to discover whether Bet made the Top 40. It didn't. #44 though, so an absolute smash in modern chart terms.

Interesting that Kaiser Chiefs sold 400 on Tuesday then double that on Wednesday... wonder why the spike in sales?

Posted by: Riser 1st August 2019, 03:11 AM

I won't even complain about no new entries this week if it means we get Higher Love or 3 Nights in the top 10...preferably both but I won't expect it!

Posted by: Bjork 1st August 2019, 07:41 AM

^exactly, and it's mid-summer, it's normal to have quiet weeks without big releases

Posted by: SKOB 1st August 2019, 07:43 AM

Sam Smith #12, Kylie #15, Kygo & Whitney still lengthening the gap between them and Sigala (#11), now up to ~900 copies from ~600 yesterday. Top 10 should be safe.

Higher Love must stay where it is now.
Of Monsters and Men dropping back in each update but Kylie remains Top 15 and needs to stay there too.
