It's time for the FROOT rate.
Rules:
- You are allowed one -1 and one 11, as usual, though of course, you do not have to use either of these if you don't wish to do so.
- Because it's an album of just 12 songs and I want to keep it interesting I'm limiting everyone to TWO 10s maximum.
- You can use .5s if you really want to, but please, no 10.5s or 9.5s.

It's a shame we're only allowed two 10s, otherwise 'Froot' and 'Forget' would have gotten a 10 as well.
I would have given 'Immortal' and 'Solitaire' better scores than 8 (as in 9) but I feel like these two songs are inferior to the likes of 'Froot' (although still completely brilliant) and thus it would have been weird/unfair to give them similar scores.
Oh wait, just realised we can use 8.5 hmmm.

For me when I rate something a 5 is average, a 6 is above average and a 7 is at least good.

7 is below the mean score being given to the songs across the album, so in that sense it's average. If your score puts it in the lower third of the album, that's "average". Relatively speaking. ~

It's so difficult because I could give all these songs justification for any score above the lowest 7.5 depending on what aspect of the song I focused on. Like Immortal could've easily been my 11 in terms of lyrical themes and vocals but it could also be the 9 I gave it for overall enjoyment when listening and the sometimes too floaty production. And I'd be happy with given it either! Same goes with the rest of the songs, but with things like how much I listen to them being the deciding factor for the purpose of the rate.

Great response to this already! And there's still quite a few Froot listeners that I hope will rate over the next week(Rabbit, Umi, Pav, Iz etc). Should be an interesting set of results because people's favourites and least favourites all seem very different to one another.

I will vote in this, but I still want to sit with the album a bit more. The 'Gold' apathy is saddening, though, but I can sort of understand people not going for it - it's so laid back and casual, it almost seems lazy, except for the fact that the chorus is so repetitively earwormy.

'Gold', particularly the chorus, really reminds me stylistically of some other female singer (or perhaps a particular song?) and it's really annoying me! Anyone have an idea of what I'm talking about?!

Just wanna say 'Gold' is great....the lyrics are brilliant . Also the intro is very Bowie-esque....very similar to Ashes to Ashes which is a good thing.

It's a brilliant album and definitely grows on you. Froot, I'm a Ruin and Blue should be #1s in a perfect chart. Solitaire is a real grower. Happy is a bit bland.

Sorry Pav! I just think it makes the results more interesting when we only have 12 tracks here.
'Better Than That' is the one that's grown on me the most. I'm having a weird relationship with it. I liked it, then felt meh, then hated it but now I just think it's fantastic. I might have to promote it to a 10 but that would mean changing 'Froot' to a 9 so I'm not sure.
I know she denied it but I can't get the idea that it's about Ellie Goulding out of my head. I feel like it's a sequel to Ed's 'Don't'.

It's unclear if they have on or not. I'm sure they were good friends in 2012 but evidence seems to suggests something happened and judging by the way Ellie had reacted on social media in response seems to be quite odd. But Marina's denied any feud so I don't think we'll ever know for sure.

Interesting. Kate Bush wouldn't have sprung to mind as I don't know too much of her stuff but thinking about it, you could well be right. Still haven't figured it out anyway!
I'll definitely get a rate in before the deadline. Just a bit busy with assignments at the moment and need to give the album another listen first.

'Happy' would have received a 10 if we'd been allowed three. The only one that's not gelling with me is 'Solitaire' but I don't dislike it. Maybe it'll click eventually. 'Savages', 'Froot' and 'I'm A Ruin' are incredible.
