BuzzJack Music Forum _ Movies and Theatre _ Least Favourite Marvel Cinematic Universe: Round 1

Posted by: Joe. 6th May 2015, 10:55 AM

I was going to open this last week, off the back of Ultron hype, but discussed with the mods and decided to wait another week, so more people had seen Age of Ultron. I'll leave this first round open until Sunday night - so that anyone who still hasn't seen it can make a dash to the cinema.

(This is just from the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, which is why there is no Spider-Man, X-Men, etc)

Get voting!

'Thor' gets my first vote! Controversial I know, but it's the only one I found my mind wandering elsewhere throughout the film. It's ok, just everything feels anti-climatic, especially the main baddie towards the end. WTF was that?!

It probably would have been 'Iron Man 2' for me, if I hadn't watched it again not too long ago. That's actually alright. Still a lot of lost potential went into it, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered it being on my first viewing. I have 'Thor' & 'Thor 2' to rewatch (I'm having a Marvel CU binge lately) so maybe the same thing will happen to 'Thor' as to what happened with IM2 for me? WHO KNOWS.

Posted by: Joe. 6th May 2015, 12:30 PM

I went for Iron Man 2, though it has its moments.

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 6th May 2015, 12:32 PM

'Thor: The Dark World' for me. Easily the worst imo.

Posted by: J▼hnkm 6th May 2015, 12:39 PM

Thor 2 is AMAZING, definitely among the very best there.

I've voted for Captain America: The First Avenger, utterly boring, forgettable and just generally not very good. I have little interest in Cap anyway, but The Winter Soldier was amazing so it proves even a bad character CAN be good if they do everything else right. TFA has a weak bad guy and just lurches along with terrible pacing, acting and characterisation (beyond the brilliant Peggy Carter).

Posted by: Joe. 6th May 2015, 12:43 PM

Fwoot, I found Thor II I found was great, too! ohmy.gif

I agree Captain America: First Avenger is quite boring - but Winter Soldier, funnily enough is a stand out to me. I expected The Incredible Hulk would pick up all the votes here (even though I really enjoyed it)

Posted by: DJHazey 6th May 2015, 12:44 PM

Hulk is the only one I haven't seen.

Posted by: Harve 6th May 2015, 01:35 PM

I've just realised that I've not enjoyed any Marvel film I've seen? They all fall into some combination of overblown, boring and mediocre.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 6th May 2015, 02:21 PM

I can't at the Captain America shade.

Posted by: Juranamo 6th May 2015, 02:23 PM

I haven't seen any of the first 2 Iron Man films or The Incredible Hulk. Iron Man 3 was the most 'average' out of the ones I have seen so I'll go for one of the Iron Man films on that basis.

Posted by: RobinJuanPersie 6th May 2015, 03:28 PM

The Incredible Hulk, I found it boring. Mind you it was 7 years ago when I saw it, I'd probably enjoy it more now.

Posted by: Acidburn 6th May 2015, 03:40 PM

The Incredible Hulk gets my first vote, just didn't find it as memorable as the others

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 6th May 2015, 03:41 PM

Iron man 2 easily- by far the worst marvel film and so bad
Will target hulk/Thor 2 after that is gone

You should watch the 'Iron Man' films when you can. Well, the first one at least! I think you'd really enjoy it.

Oh and CAN WE NOT target 'Thor 2' so early on, thanks! ohmy.gif

Top 3 prediction: Captain America: Winter Soilder, Avengers & Guardians of the Galaxy.

HOPEFULLY! *.*

Although reverse that order and that's (possibly) my order! All three are 10/10 favourite movies of the last few years sort of films though!

I can, and will, KILL YOU ALL.

Anyway, Iron Man. Never liked the original and RDJ annoys the shit out of me.

Hope the Hulk stays in, I much prefer Ed Norton as Banner to Mark Ruffalo.

Posted by: Severin 6th May 2015, 04:26 PM

I remember nothing about Hulk

Posted by: PaulM1983 6th May 2015, 06:10 PM

Hulk has to go first. It's easily the worst, followed closely by the 1st Cap Am and Iron Man 2.

I love both Thor movies so hope they stay in for a bit.

Avengers.

Cheap plastic invincible men who can't even be scratched smashing an enemy that SOMEHOW against ALL THE ODDS lasts more than 5 minutes against invincible creatures that take no damage. These invincible creatures then wail on each other for 15 minutes at a time, doing no damage of course, unless it's Robbie Downey Jr, their fave due to his box office revenue in Iron Man, who can knock teeth out from the invincible men, but these grow back anyway like sharks. Cheap wafer-thin plots that would blow away on a slight summer's breeze on flat land away from the coast that stops for 10/ 15 minutes a time due to some cheesy, explosion-ridden, dramaless (as they cannot be injured in anyway, except see above regarding their fave Iron Man) fight where the Avengers pound on the enemy and bully it until it barely escapes with its life or pound on each other, not making even a scratch.

Age of Ultron to be even more specific as the worst offender of the lot. These Avenger plastic blocks of shit are worse even than the Hulk.

Okay let's get Hulk & Iron Man 2 out of the way.

Exactly!!!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif That was me face durin it!!!

Now we need a gif of someone checkin their watch like me and countless others durin the plastic no-damage wailing on each other fights lasting 15 minutes with all 'plot' stoppin!!

This for example:

Avengers is worse than either of those. Only good one is Spiderman anyway.

Posted by: Hadji 6th May 2015, 07:05 PM

If it was on the list, I'd easily say Hulk from 2003 is by far the worst

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 6th May 2015, 07:11 PM

Poor Hulk, the most underrated of the Avengers sad.gif

Posted by: #BJSCSLAYERRRRRR 6th May 2015, 07:13 PM

You mean the plastic invincible men?

Posted by: Joe. 6th May 2015, 09:50 PM

Age of Ultron already getting a vote ohmy.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 6th May 2015, 09:54 PM

Just rewatched 'Thor' and I enjoyed it a whole lot more than I did the first couple of times I saw it! ohmy.gif I might have to rethink my vote next round...

Also, 'Avengers' is PERFECT. Both of them. I don't get the hate towards the second one. sad.gif

EDIT: But then again I really do love all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! They're exactly what I want and like in films. It saddens me that 'Hulk' is likely to go first,, although I expected it as, in retrospect, it isn't memorable at all...

As it is TEEEEERRRRIBLE!!!!

Worst movie I have EVER seen, along with Billie Piper's!!

Posted by: Chez Wombat 6th May 2015, 10:05 PM

I'll go with The Incredible Hulk - was better than the terrible 2003 film, but I remember very little about it. There's quite a few I've not seen alas, will attempt to remedy some of them.

As big as they are, I wouldn't really rank any of these above 8 or 9/10 - Avengers Assemble, Winter Soldier & Iron Man are my favourites here.

*hoping that 'Guardians' is one you haven't yet seen* wub.gif

It just so happens that I indeed haven't seen that! ohmy.gif been meaning to for a while though.

Posted by: Mart!n 7th May 2015, 05:53 PM

The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 is a close second.

Posted by: Joe. 10th May 2015, 11:17 AM

Bump, before I close this later.
