I don't own any of those 100 albums. I have several that reached no.1 but they didn't have the sales longevity to get into that top 100.

Hopefully we get a top 200 at end of decade
Looking at the previous decade it is amazing to see how much album sales have falle but with the right artist the can still be massive It's weird to see that only a decade ago single sales were fairly low but albums were massive yet now they are reversed |

Kind of incredible and yet sobering to see so many old albums remain standing here, I mean, surely no one would have called Plan B to be in the top 20 of the decade even though he started at #5 and yet he's probably locked for top 30 if not staying in the bracket he is for decade-end. I was just gonna exclaim at how huge his sales are lol - such a great album, pity he has disappeared! Great countdown as always Gezza! From a very recent 'Music Week'.
"The 16-times platinum album, which is currently the fourth biggest selling British album of all time, achieved the feat six years after its release. The only British albums to have shifted more copies are The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (5.1 millions sales), ABBA’s Gold compilation (5.2m) and Queen’s Greatest Hits (6.1m)". What 'Music Week' said about ABBA Gold was out of Date. In July 2016 The OCC said that ABBA Gold was 'almost' on 5,300,000 UK Sales. It went on to sell at least 50,000 to 60,000 more UK copies by the final Sales Chart of 2016 - W/E 5th January 2017. So, even on The OCC's much lower Total than Gezza's, (5,504,000), ABBA Gold is now on about 5,320,000 to 5,350,000 UK Sales. Its known & estimated UK Sales in the UK's Annual Top 200 Best Selling Albums: 01)... It was 12th for 1992 -- Sales??? -- (525,000 -- Estimated) 02)... It was 36th for 1993 -- Sales??? -- (205,000 -- Estimated) 03)... It was 63rd for 1994 -- Sales??? -- (168,000 -- Estimated) 04)... It was 80th for 1995 -- Sales??? -- (140,000 -- Estimated) 05)... It was 87th for 1996 -- 130,000 06)... It was 100th for 1997 -- 110,000 07)... It was 55th for 1998 -- 211,000 08)... It was 4th in 1999 -- 1,253,187 09)... It was 41st in 2000 -- 367,000 10)... It was 148th in 2001 -- 107,080 11)... It was not in the Top 200 of 2002 -- (42,000 -- Estimated) 12)... It was 193rd in 2003 -- 95,000 13)... It was 47th in 2004 -- 380,000 14)... It was 118th in 2005 -- 160,000 15)... It was 194th in 2006 -- 94,000 16)... It was 166th in 2007 -- 91,800 17)... It was 19th in 2008 -- 410,119 18)... It was 54th in 2009 -- 248,500 19)... It was 90th in 2010 -- 150,900 20)... It was 130th in 2011 -- 95,400 21)... It was 140th in 2012 -- 81,300 22)... It was 119th in 2013 -- 77,250 23)... It was 103rd in 2014 -- 70,300 24)... It was 79th in 2015 -- 84,000 25)... It was 72nd in 2016 -- 88,500 26)... 2017 - So Far -- W/E 12th January -- 3,100 + W/E 19th January -- 2,300 + W/E 26th January - 2,000 = 7,400 'ABBA Gold -- UK Total -- W/E 3rd October 1992 to W/E 26th January 2017 = 5,392,736 = 5,393,000 (Rounded) This post has been edited by zeus555: 20th January 2017, 08:26 PM |
