Both the Flood and These Days were the lead singles from Take That's most recent 2 studio albums. While i believe both are wonderful in their own unique why, i would like to ask you people of the forum which you prefer and why. It would also be wonderful if you could give your opinions on both songs and what you think of both individually as well as voting.

Without question The Flood.
TD is a catchy pop song but nothing out of the ordinary. TF is a well crafted song. It blends all their voices together in a cohesive way and lyrically and melodically it's a captivating piece of music. TF is the kind of song TT should be producing, but for whatever reason they've gone down a different path . In my view their musical direction has been detrimental to their popularity which they may find difficult, if not impossible, to recapture. |

This is a tough one as I love both Both are so different but both great, the flood in no way represented the sound of progress but these days slightly did with three. Il have to have think before I hit the vote button.

These Days for me too. While I admit that, from a songwriting perspective, The Flood is a better piece of music, I find myself enjoying much more These Days and I find the lyrics more inspiring. The problem with The Flood and most of Progress is that they don't connect with the public on an emotional level, because they are too nostalgic, too autobiographical, waaay too personal - in general, that should be a good thing, but, considering they're talking about experiences that maybe 2% of the globe's population goes through, it's quite difficult to relate. Therefore, my vote goes to These Days

Both are wonderful songs but very different. The Flood is like an anthem, These Days puts a smile on my face and makes me want to dance. The second half of the flood is the best part of the song, These Days is stronger as a whole but the lyric content is not as good as the Flood.
I would rate both in the strong section of their catalogue but These Days at this moment is getting my vote. |

Poll result is surprising! The flood and these days both account for new chapters in the band's history. The flood edges it for me, but I love these days

This is a tough one! Both are great, but two completely different songs. I voted These Days simply because I enjoy listening to this one a little bit more than The Flood.
I'm also surprised about the result so far, I had thought that The Flood would easily "win" this one. |

I know it sounds a bit hypocritical since I voted for These Days, but I would have thought that The Flood would win this easily - maybe because its sales were better or because it sounds more epic.
It just shows that whatever makes a song more popular with an audience remains a mystery. For whatever reason, hearing These Days puts a smile on my face and makes me wanna dance. It's probably one of my favorite singles, after BFG, HTH and Patience. It would be interesting to have a poll for These Days and Rule the World |

The result is somewhat surprising. I did think the flood would walk away with this. The reason i pitted these 2 together was i noticed in the forum and other forums there was split opinions on the songs. I would rate both songs highly, very different but both great and both represent new chapters as mentioned in the forum.

Ooh this was actually really tough as both songs are amongst Take That's absolute best for me! Went for 'The Flood' in the end. The build-up is so gripping, you just know a stormer of a chorus is going to hit and then BAM it does. Wonderful memories of seeing them perform it live on the Progress tour as well.

I voted The flood - I love it - it's them telling the world their story - "shouting love at the world".

These Days was initially a runaway winner which was a surprise, but now we have a good battle as the vote is extremely close, which was more of the outcome i expected.

The Flood may win, but These Days is certainly giving it a good run for its money, which is actually the interesting part
Now that the score is drawing so close, I feel like I've been betting on a team all this time This post has been edited by milly: 14th June 2016, 02:25 PM |

If the votes keep coming in anyone could win. I agree, These Days has surprised and is giving The Flood a good run for its money. What 2 songs do you think we should pit against each other next?
I had thought about either: Rule The World vs Patience or Rule the World vs the winner of this round. Opinions or suggestions welcome. |

Both suggestions are good. Rule the World vs the winner of this poll - or we could try Rule the World against all 3 of them: Patience, The Flood and These Days. You never know what fans might prefer.
Pippa, you could also try a poll with multiple choices for tracks that were not singles from all albums - and we could have the option to vote, let's say, only 5 songs in that list. We may even find out what people would truly like to hear on a tour. |
