Mr pmt is going to love this laugh.gif

Back to the new Martin Garrix... sad.gif It will grow but it will never be as good as the stuff he doesn't push as singles.

Posted by: lewistgreen May 8 2017, 01:34 PM

This will be released on May 19th

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 May 8 2017, 01:49 PM

Really cannot wait for this, my expectations are sky high after Scared to Be Lonely and basically everything Troye does being amazing. Not heard the live version yet, trying to wait for the studio version!

Posted by: mdh May 8 2017, 08:28 PM

OH MY LORD

This cannot be anything short of superb.

Posted by: BridgeCow May 9 2017, 05:58 PM

This is actually so good, I cannot wait

From the online preview it sounds like it may be Tawdry Hepburn's idea of music hell, and I can't say I am a big fan either. The drop has a bit more life in it than Scared To Be Lonely at least and at least the vocal isn't as harsh sounding and annoying imo as the one in In The Name Of Love

Isn't he normally a big fan of Troye?

"Scared to be Lonely" is probably the best thing I've heard from Martin Garrix and Troye is life so I have high hopes for this, hope it doesn't disappoint and that it can become a big chart hit for the sake of the latter!

I don't know but I know he doesn't like the Chainsmokers style of future bass much, and judging from the preview this definitely is that style of song.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 May 17 2017, 07:38 PM

Any further news on this? Surprised it's not been officially announced yet, hope it actually is coming on Friday sad.gif

Posted by: mdh May 17 2017, 08:01 PM

Well he confirmed a few weeks ago that the song was coming 'mid May', and JosepVinaixa says it's out Friday - so that's all we have to go by right now. It'll either be out this week or next week for sure tho!

Posted by: cqmerqn May 17 2017, 08:06 PM

Can't see this being a hit based on Troye being the feature

I saw the interview that mentioned mid May, and that seems to be the only thing leading to the reported 19th May release date sad.gif plans of course do change so I'm worrying it's been pushed back. I hope not as I have really high hopes!

Why not? Troye's name won't dictate how big a hit it is.

That's kind of like saying you couldn't see 'Stay' being a hit because Alessia Cara was the feature. unsure.gif

Posted by: ElectroBoy May 18 2017, 10:05 AM

Looking forward to this being released smile.gif

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌊 May 18 2017, 03:39 PM

This isn't out in Oceania, so I don't think it will be released this week. I guess the best is to wait until Martin announces it, which I hope it will be in the following days.

That said, I'm aware that he mentioned in a interview while he was in Asia that it was supposed to be released in halfway May and many people jumped that he was referring to May 19.

Well not really. Alessia Cara had Hits prior to the release of Stay.. unlike Troye.

Posted by: J▲hq May 18 2017, 05:23 PM

Did JP Cooper before "Perfect Strangers"? What about Conrad Sewell prior to "Firestone"?

Comes out next week.

The #62 smash hit

Posted by: Dexton May 18 2017, 10:59 PM

Troye actually does have a relatively big fan base, especially in Australia and the US and I can see this going Top 20 there at least. That said, Katy Perry and Migos are two of the biggest artists around but Bon Appetite is flopping anyway. I don't think the popularity of the artists is necessarily a big factor in the performance of a song in the charts (with obviously exceptions like Ed Sheeren).

Personally I'm looking forward to this as we haven't heard anything new from Troye in a while but I am sceptical as Martins last 2 commercial songs have been very... commercial..

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 May 18 2017, 11:33 PM

All Troye lacks at the moment is commercial support - Radio 1 gave him pretty decent support but stations like Capital haven't gone near him yet. YOUTH was a #23 hit in the US anyway so there's obviously demand, and his album was critically praised.

is it bad that I can barely tell which one is who in the photo? (left one is Garrix but they're quite similar)

Posted by: Jay ☆ May 19 2017, 11:42 PM

Really excited to hear this in full! wub.gif

Aside from the WILD EP going Top 5, Troye has been cruelly overlooked in the UK, so I hope this is something of a breakthrough for him here!

Posted by: mdh May 20 2017, 07:44 AM

!!! wub.gif wub.gif

So excited for this now, it has potential to be one of the songs of the year.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 May 26 2017, 01:19 AM

Can't get enough of this wub.gif the drop is a little weird but I got used to it after one listen. Troye sounds sublime heart.gif

Posted by: ~josh~ May 26 2017, 06:38 AM

Really shocked by how much I like this, despite liking both artists I wasn't really very excited for this for some reason. The drop is really slick and the sort of thing I can imagine humming all day long, it's alreasy stuck in my head! Troye sounds brilliant too, hope it can be his first proper big hit!

Posted by: cqmerqn May 26 2017, 06:45 AM

Sounds like a hit ngl. Not as big as STBL but still.

Posted by: danG May 26 2017, 07:52 AM

Enjoying this but I must say it doesn't have the impact that his previous two singles left me on first impression. Sounds like another top 20 regardless.

Posted by: awardinary May 26 2017, 08:02 AM

Very radio friendly. I like it. music.gif

Posted by: Jonjo May 26 2017, 08:05 AM

Bland! Really disappointed sad.gif

Hopefully it sets Troye up for his new era, but as of now I'm really not liking it much at all! sad.gif

Posted by: BridgeCow May 26 2017, 08:06 AM

I really love this! The drop is so nice and it's been stuck in my head all morning.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn May 26 2017, 04:51 PM

I don't find it quite as jarring as his last two singles, but it's still a shame this is who he is now and also a shame if it becomes Troye's first top 40 hit with all the excellent stuff he put his name to previously. sad.gif

Posted by: HausofSZA May 26 2017, 05:37 PM

Beautiful.

And it gets Troye's name out there (in the UK moreso - he's already established in the US) so I am all for it doing well.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man May 27 2017, 09:30 AM

Beautifully sung, performed and produced.

Posted by: 360Jupiter May 27 2017, 03:09 PM

Very nice song! Also cute video. Very cleverly done, enough room to interpret them chasing e.g. a girl or each other depending on what your pov and beliefs are.

Posted by: ReyOfSpunShine May 28 2017, 12:20 AM

I'll give I another listen but I'm not feeling it just yet sad.gif

Posted by: Jonjo May 28 2017, 12:23 AM

I've given this numerous listens and I'm still really not feeling it at all! Troye sounds good on it though, but that's literally the only positive thing about it for me </3

But hey. As I have said before, I can't be too mad if it makes him a bigger name here in the UK!

Posted by: ElectroBoy May 30 2017, 01:22 PM

Really loving this at the moment - very summary and maybe not instant, but its definitely a great song.

Good to see its been added to some playlists on spotify - hopefully it can crack the top 50 there and then the top 40 officially biggrin.gif

Posted by: jase. Jun 1 2017, 10:35 PM

It's a bit bland sad.gif

Posted by: Dobbo Jun 5 2017, 09:35 AM

It's not quite as good as I was hoping but it's nice enough and definitely has potential to grow.

Posted by: djquavdemon Jun 8 2017, 11:48 AM

Can't see it troubling top 40 in any possible way.
absolutely don't understand Troye's *relative* popularity as a singer. Yes, call me a hater then.

Posted by: cqmerqn Jun 8 2017, 05:41 PM

Well he's not that popular if he can't go top 40 at least tongue.gif

You did this with Niall's song and a fair few others too - it hasn't even been playlisted anywhere yet and released not even 2 weeks ago. Instant hits rarely happen anymore.

I'd be more worried if the song had been playlisted and out for ages and wasn't picking up. But once the Manchester songs have dropped on spotify it will easily hit the top 50 and will (fingers crossed anyway) rise from there.

Why not? They A-listed both of Martin's previous singles didn't they? And they've given Troye B-list support too, there's really no reason for them not to jump on board imo.

Posted by: BridgeCow Jun 27 2017, 07:59 PM

Yeah this seems like it was primed to get support from R1, kinda confused/worried it hasn't happened yet tbh

Posted by: mqh Jun 27 2017, 07:59 PM

I reckon it could enter low top 40 next week! Taking into account that 7-10 songs will drop out of the top 40 due to the ratio change it could have a very good shot of sneaking in ;o

It climbed 15 places in the most recent chart to reach a new peak so until the trend is clearly downward, I don't think it's safe no.
