BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Major Lazer - Run Up (feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj)

Posted by: TMD_24 5th December 2016, 05:47 PM

It's being announced that Major Lazer's next single will be a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and PARTYNEXTDOOR and the single is rumoured to be called 'Run Up'. The song will release after the new year in January with a teaser leaked online now. (Obit very hard to hear)

Posted by: ❄️awardinicyϭ 5th December 2016, 05:56 PM

Exciting! I still wish they would have made Believer a proper single, it's still really good. biggrin.gif

Posted by: twentyonemdh 5th December 2016, 05:58 PM

Oh ffs puke.gif PND is ok but Nicki? Seriously? Ew.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 5th December 2016, 07:07 PM

PARTYNEXTDOOR coming for that chart hit. cheer.gif

Posted by: Steve201 5th December 2016, 10:53 PM

Well this should be a good start to the year!

We'll get at least one New Entry in the Top 40 in January then

We would have had two if Anne-Marie didn't postpone the release of "Breathing Fire"

Single is rumoured to be called 'Who Knew' and another hype single came is out!

I can already sense this will be a number one.

Posted by: Snowsnake 6th December 2016, 05:54 PM

No, not more tropical future bass with pitched vocals...sounds from the preview I won't like it.

seeing as January is usually a quiet time for releases, I'd say it has a very good chance of #1. Probably won't repeat the #1 debut of 'Cold Water' though as Nicki Minaj doesn't have quite as big a fanbase as Justin Bieber to say the least.

Posted by: Davidson 6th December 2016, 06:37 PM

I'm still checking for this because of the features but the snippets make it sound like everything else released this year, which is disappointing.

I want the fresh and experimental Major Lazer back please.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 6th December 2016, 07:03 PM

There's no going back for fresh and experimental Major Lazer... the size of Lean On has seen to that. Just gotta hope for some bangers like Light It Up and the featured artists for this are very encouraging.

Posted by: twentyonemdh 6th December 2016, 10:40 PM

This sounds great from the previews heehee.gif

The official name for the single is now 'Ring Her Up'.

Posted by: WiseManFromLeeds 19th December 2016, 04:29 PM

Sounds like the type of song which would stick around in the charts for ages heehee.gif

It's Major Lazer, what do you expect heehee.gif

I'm so excited for this, the previews sound brilliant - sounds like a more mature crossover between Boom and Light It Up!

And this could be the song which puts an end to Clean Bandit's reign at the top like they did to Drake's

I blame Ed. tongue.gif

Posted by: Danuary 6th January 2017, 01:54 PM

I think it'll get released next month, they clearly don't want to be overshadowed by Ed's releases. Although maybe Ed's album drops then idk.

Next month?! Seriously hope not, the song sounds like fire! I don't know why Major Lazer would feel in direct competition with Ed Sheeran, they're clearly not the same genre. If the song is good, then it'll be a long-runner in the charts anyway.

Posted by: Tinasha 6th January 2017, 02:18 PM

Yeah, they probably delayed due to Ed. And were quite wise to, even if it doesn't ever go to #1, it would have suffered sales because the hype of Ed distracting people from even knowing this was out.

Posted by: Hadji 6th January 2017, 03:35 PM

They should have released last week and they could have knocked Clean Bandit off the top today

Posted by: mdh 6th January 2017, 05:33 PM

Shame it got delayed. Hopefully it gets released pronto.

Apparently they hadn't added Nicki Minaj's verse yet and that's why it was delayed. laugh.gif

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 12th January 2017, 04:32 PM

The track is called "Run Up" and it will be released in two weeks.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 22nd January 2017, 10:15 AM

From the snippets, its just clicked with me what this song sounds like...

EDIT: From a new snippet, Nicki Minaj is singing not rapping.

Posted by: Tinasha 26th January 2017, 11:48 AM

I'm not mad on this but I really hope it grows. I liked the start but then it got boring towards the second half of the song.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 26th January 2017, 12:22 PM

It's at a slightly slower tempo than the previews suggested but I'm impressed by how melodic it is. Also doesn't suit the cold weather at all! laugh.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th January 2017, 02:42 PM

Quite boring tbh. It will be a sizeable hit though I'm sure.

Posted by: mdh 26th January 2017, 04:43 PM

This is okay.

Posted by: Hadji 26th January 2017, 05:08 PM

It's available now

Posted by: Danuary 26th January 2017, 06:22 PM

well I quite like this but it's a bit of a letdown by their standards.

Posted by: Davidson 26th January 2017, 06:58 PM

The best thing about this is Nicki using this as promo for her fourth album laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm 26th January 2017, 06:59 PM

Hmm yeah, it's ok. I don't really have a lot to say, it's just there laugh.gif

Posted by: Cremey 26th January 2017, 08:13 PM

Unsurprisingly love this. The whole vibe is so perfect 👌🏼
Really want to hear it out 💃🏼

Posted by: J▲hq 26th January 2017, 08:16 PM

The chorus isn't exciting at all and even Nicki doesn't save it, shame.

Posted by: Inna Selez 26th January 2017, 08:46 PM

Thread was opened 2 months ago and we got... can`i say nothing but mediocre song.

Posted by: Cremey 26th January 2017, 10:37 PM

Didn't take long, already obsessed with this. Reminds me a lot of 'Work' and I'm pretty sure there's no higher praise to give, coming from me :')

Posted by: jase. 26th January 2017, 11:13 PM

Well this is a bit shit. How bloody disappointing laugh.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 26th January 2017, 11:27 PM

This is disappointing sad.gif

Posted by: Juliano 27th January 2017, 03:14 AM

Had a party tonight and everyone was moving but Zara's new single and Scared To Be Lonely went down a lot better, but it seems to be doing better sales wise.

Posted by: Harriettbar 27th January 2017, 08:09 AM

Im sorry, but Nicki Minaj, the real one, is actually way better than this impersonator. This impersonator annoys me, whereas Nicki Minaj is the female version of Lil Wayne, so kinda listenable for me.

Posted by: Josh. 27th January 2017, 08:16 AM

I do agree with others that this is a little underwhelming, with the names involved it had the potential to be as exciting as Lean On ans Light It Up. I know it's obviously not the sort of vibe they wanted with this song but if the drop/chorus was a bit more exciting like those tracks then this would be so much better. As a Nicki fan, I massively enjoyed her rap part but it feels like the rest of the track is a bit of a chore to listen to even though it has the potential to grow. Yay at #Nicki4 being hinted though, I am perched indeed.

Posted by: HarryEzra 27th January 2017, 09:56 AM

Well I rather like it on first listen has room to grow shocked at the negative reaction

Posted by: Ashley 27th January 2017, 06:16 PM

This is alright but it's way too laid back for a Major Lazer and Nicki collab.

I was expecting something like Hold The Line. I wanted something that went harder. Hey Mama was almost there but that lacked a proper drop as well.

It's surprising how few bashment tracks Nicki has in her repetoire considering her heritage and dancehall gaining popularity again.

My thoughts too. I actually like the track a lot, but it's not as commercial as some of the recent Major Lazer hits.

I was certainly expecting something a lot harder and less mid-tempo.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th January 2017, 12:32 AM

Major Lazer's most listenable song by far for me (probably coz they don't have the screeching Mo on the track!)

Really like this. I can see myself tiring of it pretty quickly though, but for now, I'll enjoy it!

Posted by: Jade 28th January 2017, 01:43 AM

This is totally underwhelming sad.gif Boring chorus and Nicki's part isn't particularly great either. Hmm...

Posted by: ML Hammer95 28th January 2017, 09:52 AM

Not surprised at some of the negative comments, as has been noted its not the most commercial Major Lazer song. An earworm of a chorus though and I love it!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 28th January 2017, 11:19 AM

Lyric video here:

I'm basically going to say the same about this as I did with Shape of You and Zara Larsson's So Good - The beat is nice enough but you spend the whole song waiting for a drop/kick that doesn't show up sad.gif

Posted by: Dobbo 28th January 2017, 09:56 PM

Nothing really standout about it all really. I didn't go in with high expectations as Major Lazer tend to be very hit & miss. I can't see this being a particularly big long-running hit.

Posted by: Red. 29th January 2017, 12:14 AM

Like this. Super catchy and summery!

Posted by: HausofSZA 29th January 2017, 01:36 PM

This is amazing wub.gif Can't remember the last track PARTYNEXTDOOR featured on that I didn't love.

Posted by: RobBob 29th January 2017, 05:32 PM

Because I was expecting something more manic due to Major Lazer/Nicki, the first listen was a bit disappointing. But now I'm really enjoying this for what it is, though I don't see myself going wild for it like a Light It Up. Better than it's being given credit for here though!

Posted by: HausofSZA 29th January 2017, 09:33 PM

This could well end up being my second favourite from them after Cold Water. I am loving it SO MUCH music.gif

Posted by: burbe 29th January 2017, 09:38 PM

I was really disappointed with this at first, but it's starting to sound good now!

Posted by: Stu1985 31st January 2017, 12:09 AM

Actually loving this. Oh yeah.

Posted by: The Sultan 1st February 2017, 06:58 PM

Why does the beat in places sound like the song is being played on a faulty CD player that is skipping? ohmy.gif

Posted by: HausofSZA 5th February 2017, 08:38 PM

This is my favourite song of the moment. Absolute FIRE.

Posted by: jase. 11th February 2017, 11:04 PM

This has actually really grown on me now! laugh.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 11th February 2017, 11:17 PM

Major Lazer seem to be hit and miss with me unfortunately. sad.gif

This has become very boring quickly.

Posted by: Jack 12th February 2017, 10:28 AM

OK, I completely take this back. It has taken some time but it has grown on me. Nicki's rap is fire.

Posted by: jase. 1st March 2017, 08:50 PM

It's definitely one of those songs which needs a bit of time to grow, we all seem to love it now! laugh.gif

Posted by: Davidson 2nd March 2017, 12:10 PM

Yeah I thought the only good thing about this was Nicki's verse at first but now I love everything about it.

Such a bop. Wish it was smashing as it's about 1000x better than 'Cold Water'.

Posted by: Cremey 30th March 2017, 09:12 PM

Still one of my favourite songs of the year. The Big Fish remix is heavenly.
