Night falls over Zaratigone, and as it does, a shimmering wave of electric light replaces the sunlight. The Electro Forest within which Séyetana’s northernmost state capital is located, does this every night, but even so, Danaelandan, Altyrian and other assorted tourists on the shoreline look on in awe as the luminescence rolls up from the shoreline all the way to the distant hills in the east. It is accompanied by the excitable sound of electronic dance beats as the city’s clubs open for the night. Unusually, very few guitars can be found in this part of Séyetana and as such it receives a lot of tourists although Ziadiz elites would never admit that it gets more than their city. Which it does.

In the centre of the wooded city lies the Enchanted Arbor Ballroom, a high-class affair notable for the first sellout Nightcore performance in the Buzzjack world, led by The Cab and helped by sinister and controversial speeding technology. Tonight though, the atmosphere is more refined, although none of the guests, from all over the Buzzjack World, know quite what they are in for, they were merely promised a ‘night to remember’. Atop the royal balcony, Baroness Diamandis is in attendance, with her two aides TNT and SOS. She notices her arch-rival, Zaslavski, in the crowd below, fresh returned from a visit to Cor Lupus and is about to give the order to evict him before a gong sounds for attention.

On the front stage of the ballroom, a lone figure steps out, wearing a mask painted with the Seyetan flag of a sun-coloured eye emblazoned on a light blue field. The baroness, after consultation with her aides, who were informed in advance, recognises her as Tei Shi, a Denrayber sponsored entrant for Séyetana some years ago. Zaratigone did aid Denrayber with the funding on that occasion, the two cities regularly find common ground due to their high acceptance of music tastes, so Diamandis nods with approval as a hushed silence falls over the busy room.

“Greetings, citizens of the Buzzjack world,” Tei Shi called, taking off her mask and showing her face to the world. “Welcome to the Buzzjack Song Contest Masquerade event!”

She continued. “Many of you here today may recognise me from when I represented Séyetana with the wonderful Bassically. Tonight, I represent Séyetana again in this spinoff contest but…” she pauses to take in the cheers, ”with one catch – the Séyetan BJSC committee has not sponsored me, another, mystery country has.”

A woman wearing an Ultraviolenceland mask stepped forward, and revealed herself to be Noonie Bao, a very recent winner of the main contest, prompting more cheers. “The same goes for all of us,” she continued, pointing to a host of bands and solo artists that emerged from the shadow of the trees at the back of the open-air stage, all wearing masks which they removed and held high above their heads.

“Each of us, though we represented who we appear to have been sent by at some point in the past, has been sponsored by a different BJSC committee,” a Ojnojian resplendent Kristinia DeBarge explained, the oldest entrant in the contest. She hails from BJSC 19, before most of the countries tonight were formed, including Séyetana.

“Your task, should you choose to accept it,” said the Ashtonise-apparent Nina Nesbitt, “is to guess who actually sent us, and to enjoy the show!”

*insert roar of applause and beginning of show rules*

SHOW RULES
1. PM your votes to me (Iz~) using the 18 points voting system (18 points to your absolute favourite then 15/13/12/11/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1, a total of 15 songs).
2. Unlike in most BJSCs, you may, if you so wish, vote for the entry under your normal country name. You may not vote for the entry that you yourself sent in, whatever country name that one may be under. Pray I keep track of this.
3. The deadline for all votes to be received by is 3rd March 2017, 23:59. If you do not submit valid votes by this deadline the entry you sent will receive a 33% deduction in points.
4. Do not reveal or hint at which entry you are responsible for, instead have fun in the guessing game and approving or disapproving of what has been picked for your country.

Approving of the somewhat inspired choice to send one of my underappreciated DNQ artists (I'm gonna pretend the person responsible actually knows the one I sent and not the much bigger hit from Singerpurear, even though that is likely not the case ) - not heard this Kadie Elder track but looking forward to hearing it, and the rest of these songs of course!

Have to feel a little bit sorry for Deandria here when Mattias specifically posted saying he hopes the person who got him didn't send Allie X. At least it's not one of her more well-known songs??

Still, I picked Bassically over this one at the time because that was way better than Nevermind The End back then - kinda hoping it grows on me, it would feel weird not to point myself. But I'm far from decided on votes yet.

Amusing amount of outrage here Pogo is an interesting choice for a Klum entry which narrows down the poster behind that entry quite a lot - Mellow Brick Road is by far my fave Pogo song but hoping a few more listens to Alohomora will help it grow!

Before reading any of these comments I did eyeroll at the Cadelician entry - especially the cheek of going for the same artist again after a veto!

I actually forgot Doubt was on Blurryface that's how little I recalled it while Holding On To You is probably one of their most well-known tracks for being a big early single. I think if we were getting rid of album tracks we'd also have to get rid of basically all the former winners here and some of them aren't unfortunately that inspired.... but remember guys, you can adjust your votes according to inspiration as well as quality if you so desire.

The middle ground I normally go for is good discoveries ahead of good tracks I already knew but you can do whatever you like.

The person that actually sent the entry will get the results added to their stats in the relevant thread etc, so say Aquafina was given Ramrynia to select and artist from and sent Krewella, the result Krewella gets will be added to Aquafina's "chart run" and total points and so on.

I was up for getting rid of Twenty One Pilots again as I think it's pretty lazy to just re-submit the same artist that got vetoed.

Not sure who might have Bignia as none of the other countries to have also entered BoA previously are in this, that includes Daehun. Who else is into the whole k-pop thing? One of Liam, Cody or Addy?

I know pretty much everyone else has said the same thing and I don't want to upset anyone, but AJR did seem veery much like the easy option, especially given they've got a song in the top 100 atm. I kind of understand though because they're the only artist of that genre I've sent (and obvoisly I've not got a massive selection of artists)

(although I was secretly hoping someone would send Royce Lovett - That's Dat Jesus)

First of all, while BIGBANG is quite far from the Land of DW sound (although it flopped, so it fits the pattern), I still think it's an inspired entry and I kinda like it, so yay for the country sending it (I guess I can't really expect from a poppy country to dig into the back catalogue of RMB, Marusha or Art vs. Science).

I really hope that my country(s owner) will approve my choice and forgives that they will finish bottom 10. At least we can't say that it's not an inspired entry

Well, whoever has me certainly picked something inspired so I'll give you a by from this savagery I mean I don't know a lot of Bloodgroup's discography as I only sent a remix of one of their songs, but listening to this now it's pretty cool so WD~ (I'm pretty sure I know who this is adding together what a certain poster said in the confirmations thread and knowing who was actually a fan of my original Bloodgroup entry )

Some disappointingly cheap artists I agree, but hopefully some good discoveries to be found in there (I hope my country likes their choice too :x).

FM-84 for me I flicked through a couple of his other songs and I think that was one of them, but I barely remember it as I very quickly settled on 'Arcade Summer' and discarded the others. So it will be nice to hear that again. Interesting choice!

Oops at the person I chose something for not being satisfied with it ah well, I loved it and it was a brilliant discovery for me.

Of all the Trifoski artists, Moxiie certainly is an interesting choice The song is sounding quite nice upon initial listens, granted it's no 'Jilted' (or quite up to Trifoski's ridiculously high standard, but no shame in that since not everyone can do what i do) but still respect for making an inspired pick ~

(when it comes to the results though....oh boy do i feel sorry for whoever got assigned trifoski, the albatross is around your neck now! )

I kinda love the song i've given my assigned country lol, only just discovered it last night too

Well I'm glad I didn't put any expectations on whoever was assigned my country! No disappointment here, although I haven't heard this Sizzy Rocket song I'm happy to see someone else likes her! To be fair, I can't think of any Harmonica artists I would've been unhappy with seeing here.

I know and love two of the songs besides the one I picked, and judging by the full list of names it should be a great contest to listen to

This is a bit of a mixed bunch of songs, there are about 8-10 great songs and then enough more that are good for me to be happy with my votes but it kinda tails off rapidly after that - not gonna be voting just yet though as I want to get a second listen in so hopefully some more can grow on me. A few of the ones that are great are not ones I expected from the artists tbh!

The Dagny track has really grown on me since it was entered here - I downloaded it when it was released but never really bothered with it, glad my alias chose it for me now as I don't sync that well with many pop tunes.

I'm quite liking the Tensnake song, it's a grower, not really something I'd send myself though, it doesn't captivate me like 58 BPM did.

Ironically I'm loving the Haloo Helsinki song...it's probably 'more Rontvian' and an act that did much better for me than Tensnake (and better than Unvoia did with them at a later date too )

A pretty strong contest overall, lots of really good stuff - and in many cases I'm preferring the songs sent here to other songs sent by these artists! Shall submit my votes shortly.

I have 7 non-voters, if they want to vote tomorrow at a not unreasonably late time I'll accept with the standard late deduction for the song they sent - which is a bit different with the song that gets deducted being a mystery.

Results tomorrow may well be a late one with me getting invited to the cinema (and probably missing the all-important Melfest too) - I'm thinking a start between 8-9, depends how it goes. If that's too late for people I could just do it on Sunday.

Well, I didn't really want to be late with doing my results, I prefer to be on time and I wouldn't do this if this were a main contest, but that's pretty much the only reason I have to do it tonight as it stands.

I could be ready for this evening but if so many people are out - and I should have expected no less on a Saturday - and I'll have other things to fit in besides this (Melfest catchup, dinner etc) it might be easier and I'll get more people around live if I do a pleasant Sunday afternoon results show as a warmup to the confirmation opening.

So that's what I'll do. Sunday afternoon. Late voters Ashton, Taahino, Yehesi, -Pi and Syndare have until midnight tonight to get late votes in, won't accept them after that, and I'll give you a timely and fun results show tomorrow.
