BuzzJack Music Forum _ 20th Century Retro _ Please pack your suitcase we are moving to the Retro Lounge

Posted by: SpamFritter 1st September 2017, 08:04 AM

Hi guys,

I know we will miss our little community here, we have had many happy years in our 'little bubble' but times change new singers are emerging every day and it is time for us to move.

I for one am very grateful for our time here.

Next week we are going to the Retro Lounge.

We have the weekend to collect anything you need from the threads.

However they will not be deleted but will be merged into the RL.

I have asked for some guidelines and will let you know when I get them.

Posted by: Baytree 1st September 2017, 09:27 AM

Don't the forums get archived any more?

Posted by: SpamFritter 1st September 2017, 09:35 AM

Doesn't seem so....

QUOTE(Iz~ @ Sep 1 2017, 12:31 AM) *
Secondly, yes, the move from a full forum to a retro thread so that you can continue to discuss Darius is going ahead. We're going to give you guys a few days to gather anything like chart runs or sales you may need (and even if you forget something, the topics won't be deleted, they'll just be mass moved to the depths of the retro forum) and we'll do it after the weekend.

Posted by: Baytree 1st September 2017, 12:24 PM

Is it only mods who can save and move stuff, Spamfritter?

If so, I'm happy to leave the decision about what is moved, to your and megham's judgement.

Posted by: polly 1st September 2017, 04:33 PM

Not happy about them changing their minds about this only a few days after they said we could keep our own forum but at the same time like I said the other day it looks like it could work quite well only time will tell. How many topics can we put in retro. My suggestion for a topic heading is darius news, bits and pieces.

Posted by: Iz~ 1st September 2017, 06:08 PM

I think the fact that they were archived and disallowed for posting but still very visible as subforums was confusing to some, which is why they were removed completely.

If it was said you could keep it I'm afraid that was a miscommunication - we were reviewing the state of the forums over the past few months and the amount of on-topic discussion in this forum had pretty much ground to a halt. What discussion there is about the little Darius is doing these days can be kept to one general, yes, bits and pieces thread just like most artists (although it wouldn't matter if a few extra topics for his career path as Baytree said in the other thread were also used).

Posted by: SpamFritter 1st September 2017, 06:13 PM

This is the reply I got back from RL,

QUOTE
I can pin anything on request, and there's only a few things pinned so far in retro - as far as I know only mods can make changes to their own forums, except supermods who can make changes to any. Normally when things gets moved it's the whole lot just changes location with nothing altered, but if there's anything that goes astray let me know (or a supermod) and we'll chase it. The Now album reviews were recently moved with no trouble, except it encouraged a few more folk to try the Retro lounge (which covers anything to the mid-noughties now)

Cheers!

I'd prefer to split that into Darius Campbell news. And Darius Campbell Bits and Pieces where we can put items which are not yet confirmed and talk about Darius. The Hissmobile suggested these two topics.

Other than that I'd like one thread to hold all our pinned musical theatre reviews, including the Funny Girl Tour reviews. I should have them finished by tomorrow.

I'd also like to have an active picture/video thread if that's possible.

I'm back, changed my mind about taking a break, sorry for the confusion.

I am very sad because of the Darius forum going. I blame myself for taking part in the debates so much with the couple of members who wanted the Darius forum gone, so the arguments went for a long time on the Poster's Chart threads and in the New Artist Forums discussion page. I think those arguments about the future of the Darius forum may have snapped the moderators patience, leading them to axe the forum to stop the arguments about whether the Darius forum should stay or not.

Posted by: Baytree 1st September 2017, 07:10 PM

Darius Speaks

"No regrets, just experience" If you can't remember what it means get back to the thread.

"Onwards and upwards"

Posted by: polly 1st September 2017, 07:11 PM

I like the idea of having a thread for things that are not yet confirmed aswell smile.gif

Posted by: SpamFritter 1st September 2017, 07:12 PM

BT, from what I understand we will have all the threads as they are now.

We can ask for the FG reviews to be pinned.
We could see about merging the review threads.

We will not be able to have them all pinned but they will go back to the top if they are used.
We will just have to use them smile.gif

Tbh I think the threads in the retro lounge will have much less discussion than there has been recently in the forum, because of the reduced number of topics.

But then that's probably what those who decided to close this forum wanted tbh, its probably been an embarassment to them that the Darius Forum many of them call 'irrelevant' and 'a joke' has been doing well with activity recently.

We can add this info onto one of the threads we already have such as, What is Darius doing now.
Or even start a new thread.

As far as I can see we can operate as usual except it will not be just Darius stuff.

Posted by: The Hissmobile 1st September 2017, 10:03 PM

What about Julia W and eden do you think they will join us for the new threads on the retro forum? I hope neither of them will leave Buzzjack because of this change.

The title of this thread is quite appropriate as my feelings now with the forum about to close and move to the retro lounge is a bit like how I feel on the last day of a holiday, that sad feeling that something excellent is about to end, but that things will still be good after, just not quite as good as before!

I'm still here! biggrin.gif I've been here since Darius was just a thread on the Pop Forum so won't be going anywhere now. I don't post much but read a lot!! I'm sure everything will be fine in our new home cool2.gif
Thank you for all you have been doing to help us out! biggrin.gif

Not very goodles at all this- but have been a member forever! Thanks again and hope all works.

Can we pack Darius's solo performance of Maybe in the suitcase, please?
That was a one-off.

These lyrics too? When I read then I still hear some of the melodies in my head.

So Darius, great potential.

A bit like this forum had before it was axed. There were 13 guests reading the Darius forum at one point last night! Some of them could have eventually joined Buzzjack and posted here if it had of been left open!

By the way can we still feature our iconic slogan 'Buzzjack.com - No.1 For Darius' as the subtitle of the Darius News thread on the retro lounge?

Posted by: Mack 2nd September 2017, 06:40 PM

Shame that it is moving to the Retro Lounge. You all have done a great job.

Yes I blame myself a lot tbh for being so dedicated to defending the Darius forum in those debates on the Poster's Chart thread and on the New Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift AFs thread about its future meaning they lasted longer. Moderators' patience may have snapped and just decided to stop the debates they wanted to get rid of the Darius forum first rather than the Leona or Take That forums which have been much quieter than us recently.

As I said before the one positive thing is that more posters on the Retro Lounge and maybe the rest of Buzzjack will be able to get to know the great posters that up to now have mostly just posted on this on this Darius forum those being Baytree, SpamFritter, polly, Julia W, megham and eden.

The packing in a suitcase is for you to down load from the forum what you want to keep incase it is difficult to find afterwards.

To be fair, if Darius is going to be away for the best part of a year, mostly involved in film production in the US, it is probably a good time to make the move.

We know him well. He will put his heart and soul and every waking hour into any project to be the best he can be and do the best he can while still learning from experts in their field.

I must just trust the retro forum not to be claustrophobic although I fear that Darius threads on the front page may be too much for some and things will turn nasty.

I suppose so, and I do think poor Leona Lewis, Take That and The Sugababes are on borrowed time having their forums too.

While our forum has been quite busy recently, it probably would grind to a halt eventually when Darius starts his secret film production.

Is he finishing doing 'Funny Girl' then during that best part of a year? ohmy.gif

I think there will be less posting anyway, with less Darius threads there. I still hope it remains quite active though, it would be sad to see Buzzjack become Darius discussion-free - Buzzjack.com must still be No. 1 For Darius! biggrin.gif . I will still keep the twitter page active but put the links up to the new threads when they arrive and rename the twitter page Darius Campbell Chat.

OK, so not one large one for the hold but individual cabin baggage. I hadn't grasped that. Better get cracking on it. Not much time left.

Posted by: The Hissmobile 2nd September 2017, 11:24 PM

They said there now on the Lounge monthly thread (the one in Greek) that no new artist forums will be coming in the foreseeable future, so that presumably means the Leona forum and Take That forum will be staying for the foreseeable future.

That just makes it even more unfair and a silly decision imo they are getting rid of this forum from the Artist Forums, when these other two forums have had very little posts on them recently and are allowed to stay "for the foreseeable future".

Do we need to maintain our Darius off topic waffle thread on the Retro Lounge? It is nice to have a general off topic thread just for any discussions between us Darius forum members that might not be just about Darius, the Robbie Williams forum has one for example.

Posted by: MoistSummerFruit 3rd September 2017, 12:55 PM

Oh no.

This is like the WORST result

I doubt any of you will stay

There should be a retro subforum for old forums like this to keep the community intact. sad.gif sad.gif

I wouldn't to be honest. I think it's part of the reason they decided to take the personal forum off us because it wasn't always relevant to darius campbell. Just my opinion though.

Posted by: MoistSummerFruit 3rd September 2017, 12:59 PM

Surely as this forum is so old, a couple weeks, rather than a few days, could be given to merge threads and lrt the community think of hat threads to prioritise etc? There is a LOT.

Yet the relatively dead Take That and Leona forums get to stay "for the foreseeable future" as I said earlier on this thread. Two nights ago I saw this Darius forum had 13 guests reading it, some of those could have joined in the future if it was kept open.

There should be a retro subforum, I really agree with you!

I think everyone will stay but the few threads allowed on the retro forum will be a bit of mess and it won't attract as many posts as we have had this week (which mostly have been about relevant things for the record) as there will be less topics. I agree with you that the community feel will be partially gone too.

Posted by: polly 3rd September 2017, 01:07 PM

But off topic waffle was in the minority over the last two weeks, it has mostly been more relevant stuff about Darius Campbell and the forum we have been discussing.

In 2016 and the first half of 2017 the Darius forum looked much too quiet, and it got less than 300 posts last year.

Posted by: Baytree 3rd September 2017, 01:21 PM

We had the Bits and Pieces thread which sometimes broke rumours about Darius that turned out to be true such as throwing first hints of his role in Funny Girl, sometimes news loosely related to Darius, tiny mentions, photos in the media and sometimes some not so relevant stuff. That was/is our equivalent of a waffle thread.

Spread around sadly. That's why me and MoistSummerFruit wanted us to have a separate subforum in the retro lounge if the Darius Forum had to go from the Artist Forums but apparently it was too hard to make according to Chez Wombat, plus during one of the debates about the future of Darius Forum on the Poster's Chart there was opposition from some to that idea with some saying that the Darius Forum didn't deserve one as no other artist has a separate subforum.

Posted by: polly 3rd September 2017, 01:57 PM

Thanks we'll just have to try our best to keep all the threads together ourselves best we can.

Posted by: Baytree 3rd September 2017, 02:06 PM

I think the picture thread, a news thread and bits and pieces will be viable to keep on the front page.

Others can be allowed to drop down until there's new news. The latter would probably include Sky Arts showings of Funny Girl, cinema info, DVD in the already started thread.

We'd just have to trawl back a few pages and add the relevant info to bring it back to the front page.

"Journey's End"

Are we really out of time?
Is there nothing we can try?
If I say what's in my heart
Do you promise not to cry?
Do you know how much it takes?
Will this be my last mistake?
Not to tell you how I'm scared
Then to watch you as you're
Slipping away
Will you know how much
I love you?
Will you know how much
I care for you?
This can't be the way it ends...

Stay
Don't let this moment break
Just let me touch your face
I wish that I had found the words
To tell you how I feel
Cause every time you breathe
You'll take my breath away
And now I know
No matter where the road may go
You'll always be the sun
Did you know?

Can my love drown out this fear?
Will time dry out these tears?
If I whisper how I feel
Will you hear what's in my head?
How I hung on every move
How I treasured every touch
How I can't believe you felt the same
How I can't believe we're out of time
Did you know you were my reason?
Did you know that it was
Always you?
This can't be the way it ends
This can't be your journey's end...

Stay
Don't let this moment break
Just let me touch your face
I wish that I had found the words

If we had just one more day
Could I say what's not been said?
Could I tell you all you mean to me?
All the burning in my head

This can't be the way it ends
This can't be your journey's end...

However I read he recovered again which was excellent.

I read his father is called Booth, which doesn't have seem to have as much connection to ancient Persian Kings as his sons' names.

I guess you put it on here as the title is appropriate because the Darius Forum has reached the end of its journey but it is more a change rather than an end. But undoubtedly things won't be as quite as good on the retro lounge as during these past two weeks on this fantastic forum.

When is the actual move has it been decided yet. Why did I think it was tommorow?

I think it will be tomorrow. They said 'after the weekend' so tomorrow I think it'll be.

It would be great if they gave us a couple more days though before the change or preferably decided to save the forum at the last minute and axe the almost dead Take That Forum instead!

I have a question. In the retro lounge will all our threads be kept together like they are in this forum or will they be spread around. I've been looking and it looks like topics can get spread around and we might have to look around the retro lounge to find them.

They will be in the RL according to date so I am sure we can find them. Our threads we are using now will be at the top.

10 guests and 2 members just now.

Ah well, C'est La Vie!

Good idea but wont this have to be done once we move as the threads will be relocated?

You can still find all the URLs you need and hyperlink them in a post/thread somewhere and then create a new Darius Index thread ready for when the move happens The Retro Lounge might even let you have it pinned so you have EVERY thread you'll need pinned at the top ready to find more easily smile.gif

Posted by: polly 4th September 2017, 01:39 PM

We are still here. Thought we were being moved today huh.gif

Posted by: eden 4th September 2017, 03:12 PM

Well whenever you move e-mail me with help/instruction if you can please. Just looking at your posts on here is already like a 'foreign language to me' and I would need help in how to sign in and how to navigate . Thank you all in anticipatron...

I don't know how to 'pin or link anything.too much for me to contemplate/undertake just now-but I have carried out Spam Fritters instructions and clicked on retro and saved to shortcuts. Enough for today but will surely get there eventually with time and help.many thanks again.,

Posted by: SpamFritter 4th September 2017, 04:28 PM

That is great. At least it will get you to the Retro Lounge then you just look for Darius threads.

Anything you have not read with have a little red square at the beginning of the title.

Just click on that red square and it takes you to the last thing you read wave.gif

Sorry guys, busy day. There's also an issue we need to get sorted out, we're debating whether we continue with the plan to move you to retro and instead move you to pop.

http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/Pop-f5.html

If that is the case, it may be worth you bookmarking your eventual thread rather than the actual forum (and I was going to suggest that anyway).

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 05:24 PM

We're moving.

I've finished posting elsewhere on the site now.

If it's the Pop forum, I probably won't stay on the site anyway.

Why?

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 05:55 PM

Bad memories of firefighting every Darius thread in there.

Posted by: polly 4th September 2017, 06:07 PM

I've said it before we need someone who can set up our own website and forum for darius fans so we don't have to lose members

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 06:25 PM

I really miss dariusmusic.net. It was fantastic as a fansite and dire once 'hie people' took over it.

I agree. I don't even know what what happened to it. It was there one day and the next it was gone. As an entertainer he needs his own website.

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 06:50 PM

Just ignore me.

All the hassle makes me feel like Sisyphus.

Every time Darius rises they just can't wait to knock him down again.

No wonder he.chose LA rather than London when asked to opt for one of them in that radio interview.

Posted by: polly 4th September 2017, 06:58 PM

You are right though if he had his own website then we wouldn't need a shared one and there wouldn't be a worry about him being lost in this one if you understand what I mean.

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 07:07 PM

I don't mind the threads dropping down.

The last time the threads were constantly spoiled by those who just wanted to be abusive about Darius and make his fans lives on the site a misery.

I'm not convinced things outside of this forum have changed that much.

People who aren't true fans shouldn't be allowed to comment anyway In my opinion

Posted by: Baytree 4th September 2017, 07:23 PM

Everyone who's interested or curious is very welcome but if I really disliked an artist as those guys did Darius, I'd ignore/avoid threads about the person, not set out to disrupt it all.

I agree

no one will be entering the threads being abusive about Darius! If they were, they'd be given a warning by the moderators I'm sure.

Oh Dear me-I can understand the frustration of Baytree's remarks Polly's too. Baytree-you Sam Fritter and Polly, Megham etc:is essential in my opinion to ensure whatever alternative work in some way-so for my sake too,I hope your won't throw in the towel. You all provide good and credible news and info : about Darius,so I sincerely hope you won't dessert whatever is offered in the interim, until you come up with a more suitable site.I have been a member since earliest days, and yes it was great when we had other site- but we have what we have ,and I have always been grateful to you all for providing me with news, TV appearances ,upcoming shows-everything! So am really hoping you don't leave for my sake too. I think by now you must realise that I cannot be instrumental in setting up anything! It's an age thing, just not technically savvy, but I have managed all these years to manage somehow, and you all gave me assistance when neccessary. Yes,so much of the terminology is 'lost on me',but I manage to interact in a more basic level, but without your info: I would have missed going to many appearances of Darius, and most recently Spam Fritter has been extremedy helpful to me. Baytree too. Darius does not give up.I do not give up-so I hope all of you won't either.

Is everyone happy with what I have put in the link thread for the RL,?

A lot of other threads have just chatter on.

It all looks good Pam.....I'm so glad you know what you are doing!! biggrin.gif
You have saved all the longstanding threads and anything new will go under 'Bits and Pieces' until we get sufficient information to create a new thread. I'm sure it will all become apparent as we go along - maybe even to me and Eden!! laugh.gif

Posted by: eden 9th September 2017, 09:42 PM

Thanks Pam-am just 'lost' and need a simple way to get tout right place. Is it Retro Lounge or pop or what. Before I just had to sign in and click'artistes'which took me to Darius forum,or I would respond to e-mail sent by you or other member. Why can it not be that simple, even in another forum
?! About unwanted female artiste-I had already moved this to spam and blocked sender.Hope I did right thing and didn't make things worse for myself. No doubt by now you will be tearing your hair out at my stupidity, and I am sorry for giving you so much trouble. When I have time I will access that females page, and try to follow your latest instructions, but I now don't seem to be gething any more e-mails after I blocked sender. Come to think of it ,I think the only e-mails recently have been your replies to me.Thank's Pam for doing your best for me,and I will try not to give up.
