The Lady Is A Vamp this time.
Another 7 (like Denying).
Step to Me. It's not even a proper album track.
Voted for Step To Me.

Step to me... tbh I'm only voting it as I don't really see it as part of Spiceworld I love the song really.
The Lady is a Vamp
STM is a bop! Idc if it wasn't a part of the album or not, it's still better than at least half the album!! Hmpf 😭
An interesting thing about Step to Me is that they wrote and demoed that track in 1995! So in that respect it belongs to the Spice era. Evidently they decided not to include it on that album, and I wonder why that was? It would be interesting to know whether they felt it simply wasn't strong enough, or perhaps they felt its vibe didn't fit in with the other tracks, and had it in mind to use it somehow at a later date? Evidently they passed over it for a while in terms of B Side potential too (maybe they thought it was too good for B Side status?).
The thing is, in the earliest stage of their career they obviously wouldn't have known just how big they'd become, to the point of attracting the attention of Pepsi. If that sponsorship hadn't happened, would Step to Me have remained in the vaults? I wonder if the decision to finally release it as a promotional single for Pepsi was because it was the only track they had lying around? That was a very big sponsorship (and apparently there were over 600,000 copies of it ordered!). They even performed it on tour and on TV.
It was an interesting decision to include it as a Spiceworld Japanese bonus track. They went to the trouble of re-recording it for some reason (it's a bit different to the Pepsi version), yet they ultimately passed on the opportunity to make it available on Spiceworld worldwide. Maybe there was a legal reason why, re: their Pepsi contract, but it didn't apply to Japan?
Do any of you think it should have been a Spice album track, or do you think it was best left as being a promo single/Japanese bonus track? If it had been included on either album worldwide, do you think it was worthy of being a proper single?
The track does not fit in both album musically in my opinion.
So it was OK for the Pepsi campaign.
Lady is a Vamp. I don't listen to it anymore because it's just a bit cheesy but I really enjoy it live.
Wish they'd written some lyrics for "she's a da-da-da-da da-da-da"
For me, Step to Me happened just right. It's very singular in its sound, so wouldn't fit on any of their albums. But it has an edge which fitted with Pepsi at the time. And Mel B's rap is so good.
Mel B's rap nails it. It's so good. I think it is one of their best tracks, personally. I can see why they didnt use it in Spice though. It is too similar in its attitude to Wannabe and Love Thing.
I'm glad it got some sort of release. It should be all over streaming though. hopefully one day they will bring it some attention again. Always though that it would have been a nice intro song to Holler in the last Spice World Tour, straight after the Soud Off.
I vote for Move Over, but only because it's terrible.
