Me too! I've had it in my head all week and can't stop playing it A really deserved hit for her to round off an excellent year - anything else from here on will just be a bonus.

NGL I love this. Yes, she's done better but I find it very reflective and I love the verses.

Yaass so glad she got this #1, I looove it as I've said! It might not be the big pop moment that her other songs have been, but it's really showing her as an artist imo, it's just such an appreciative, reflective, tone that's really really classy and I think it's connecting with a lot of people who appreciate being that mature over an ex, it feels like a real moment because it's come at the exact right time in her career. It's such a powerful combination that it can empower or relate to people, but is so personal and fitting for where she is in her own life.
I'm so excited for this album, I don't really mind waiting because we only just had Sweetener and I won't be *too* greedy but I feel like it's going to be such a new level artistically It doesn't even feel rushed for her to move on, because Sweetener is probably a campaign she doesn't feel she can relate to or be represented by which is fair enough given all that's happen since she made it. |

I hope the mods don’t mind but I thought the single deserved it’s own thread given it’s looking to be her biggest hit ever.
I’ve watched this performance so many times. It’s one of my favourite performances of her ever. It is so joyful and also bittersweet and her personality pours out. There’s a moment when she trips and there’s a moment when she starts to cry but it all adds to the performance. Ariana isn’t a dancer but I love the choreo from First Wives Club too, it’s super cute. |

This is such an ear worm. It's not quite to the levels of her pop moments, but my GOD does she pull this sound off when she wants to.
The Ellen performance is incredible for so many reasons, but ultimately it shows her personality off perfectly. Love, love, L O V E that her and her team were like "nah. Keep the trip in" it makes me love her so muh more |

It’s mad how big this is right now. Not even One Kiss, God’s Plan or In My Feelings could do over 1m on Spotify!

This is confirmed to debut at #1 in the US, continuing Ariana's streak of every lead single debuting within the top 10, plus she has had two further top 10 debuts with "Bang Bang" and "Focus". Queen!

This song really doesn’t deserve to be #1! I’m glad she got number one but this is nowhere near her top five singles! Not even her top 10!

that performance was SUPERSTAR levels. perfectly nailed charisma, the right staging, the right balance of personality and it matched the song completely.
gotta disagree with lee on this one - i think people always equate the feel of a song (it's epicness, it's grandeur etc. with how it should perform) but the charts just reflect the songs the public like most - if everyone resonates with a chill song like 'thank u, next' 'God's Plan' etc. then that's how it is! i would say ariana was extremely smart to do an easy breezy relationship track. it gives her a chance to get her personality across, whilst giving good twitter meme-ability and relate-ability with her target demographic (the youth who are all hung up on exes... god the amount of stuff on twitter re: this meant the song just sold itself). the fact it's very accessible, not too complex and is polished and hooky means it really COULDN'T fail. |

I disagree with this not being as worthy of success compared to her other hits.
It's already amongst her best for me - such a smart spin on the usual break up song and completely effortless. I love it. |

Despite not being initially convinced by this, I've done a U-Turn very quickly on this and it's fast becoming one of my favourite Ariana songs! I think the lyrics and how they relate to most of her demographic and very explicitly Ariana herself is really selling this song. Plus it's super catchy and very memeable!
Maybe a bit cynical but this was very clever move by Ariana/her label to release this song whilst her name is in the headlines and off the back of a disappointing album (despite the top notch singles). But good for her getting all this success after having a very tough last couple of years - I think this year will be looked back on as the time Ariana really hit it big time in her career. Also just watched that Ellen performance - fallen in love again with the song and Ari! Carrying on despite the couple f-ups and having a laugh with the backup dancers was just fantastic to watch |
