1992 didn't have that many #1 singles at all, in fact, a total of 12 singles from that year went to #1, so surely the majority would make the popular Now series? Well, for Now 22, there were 5 #1s, and one was even used from the pravious year. There were no #1s missing on this occasion! Another varied collection of smooth summer sounds, dancefloor hits and pop ballads to name some of the genres. The Now 22 party includes Erasure, The Cure, U2, Roy Orbison and Vanessa Williams to name just a few. Now 22 opened the way to many household names like Take That, Snap, Utah Saints, The Shamen, Ugly Kid Joe, Annie Lennox, George Michael and En Vogue. All of whom would go on to have further chart success and appearances in the series. Now 22 also contained 7 one hit wonders from KWS, Electronic, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, SL2, The Orb, Joe Cocker and Vanessa Williams. None of these have been seen since in the series. Now 22 is not one of my favourites from the series, but I do like the musical variety. It followed on nicely from the Now 21 tracklisting, and I do like the #1s. The cover is certainly a good one, and probably my preferred one from 1992 and certainly, by this time, people could see the pattern forming with the cover designs. Artwork Rating: 5/10 Poor The design concept is hard to define, though it's quite striking, it appears to be a cloudy red sky or some sort of volcanic theme. It's really anyone's guess, but it is a little disappointing really, maybe it just hasn't aged well. Disc 1 Favourite: Snap Rhythm Is A Dancer Without a doubt, one of the most iconic songs of the 90's and my favourite from both discs. Snap made some great sounding records, but this one still sounds like such a great anthem all these years later. Disc 2 Favourite: George Michael & Elton John Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me It's rare that a live recording does so well in the charts, but this #1 single spent 2 weeks at the top of the charts, and it's on of George Michael's best known hits, even though the song was originally recorded by Elton John in the 70's. Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good Great variety and some great debutants entering the series for the first time. A great era for dance music and Brit-pop was still a very popular genre in the charts at the time. Andrew's Best 5 (as of January 2017) 1. Snap Rhythm Is A Dancer 2. Ce Ce Peniston Finally 3. Utah Saints Something Good 4. George Michael & Elton John Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me 5. Annie Lennox Why Andrew's Worst 5 (as of January 2017) 1. Crowded House Four Seasons In One Day 2. Joe Cocker Unchain My Heart (90's Version) 3. Shakespears Sister I Don't Care 4. Diana Ross One Shining Moment 5. Wilson Phillips You Won't See Me Cry This post has been edited by awardinary: Jan 2 2017, 02:12 AM |

So many good songs on this album I could have gone for, but plumped for I Don't Care and My Lovin.
You Wont See Me Cry is an excellent song too |
