Posted by: LewisGT 5th July 2021, 06:51 PM

Dave has announced that his 2nd album is called We’re All Alone In This Together and will be released later this month (23rd July).

Very excited to see what this one brings!

VERY excited for this! Psychodrama is superb, so I have very high hopes for this.

Posted by: Jade 5th July 2021, 07:08 PM

Yep I loved 'Psychodrama' too so can't wait for this <3

Posted by: SLlewellyn 5th July 2021, 08:01 PM

I suspect, much like Stormzy, that we’ll get another critically acclaimed concept album, which I am 100% down for!

ooh excited for James Blake and Snoh Aalegra! Law of Attraction is an interesting title too. Also intrigued by Survivor's Guilt and We're All Alone.

Didn’t realise this was out so soon, def looking forward to this!!

If 'Clash' is anything to go by, this is going to be another great album. So excited!

Posted by: Jade 23rd July 2021, 10:08 AM

Erm he's only gone and dropped another masterpiece?? 'Psychodrama' was such a high bar yet he's brought the quality once again, wow. His wordplay and emotion is incredible and powerful as ever... what an immensely talented artist. There are some more commercial, carefree moments to break it up a bit ('Clash', 'System', 'Lazarus' etc.) but generally it's very hard-hitting.

The production also tugged on my heart strings on many occasions. Very pleased that James Blake was involved with quite a few songs on that front. His own featured song was gorgeous as hoped and I love that Dave referenced 'The Colour In Anything' on it.

Too many highlights to list but I think 'Heart Attack' is probably my favourite on listen #1, absolute CHILLS when the production disappears and you just concentrate on Dave's words. I guess the 'Lesley' of the album in terms of length but it once again justifies that duration.

There are some uncredited features btw - spotted some on 'In The Fire' (Fredo, Meekz, Ghetts, Giggs), 'Both Sides Of A Smile' (ShaSimone) + 'Survivor's Guilt' (Jorja Smith - a sample I think?)

So yeah that's just listen one feelings DeadBanana.gif looking forward to giving this more and more time.

Had this on in the background while I was working and was impressed. I don't think there's anything on there that quite matches up to my favourites from Psychodrama nor is there anything that sounds like it will be a massive smash like Location.

I feel like it's going to be 10x better when I can actually sit back and take all the lyrics in though.

Just listened to this today on the bus home from work and oh wow album of the year for me. His rapping is just perfectly poised and delivered and I love that he goes all political throughout. Especially on my favourite song on the album ‘Three Rivers’ when he rightly attacks the government for the Windrush scandal. Also love the mentions of Corbyn, Wan Bissaka and Martial on his tracks!

I'm really liking this, I didn't really pay attention to his debut but the production here is sublime.

I decided to try and find a vinyl of it and stumbled across this (I believe) regular edition going for an insane price on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403012759160?_trksid=p2471758.m4704 There are so many other copies available for about £20, it has to be some sort of weird scam or something surely?

One final update before the official chart positions are announced.

Day 7 Spotify

4. Clash (feat. Stormzy)
6. Verdansk
10. In The Fire
17. System (feat. Wizkid)
18. We're All Alone
22. Twenty To One

41. Law Of Attraction (feat. Snoh Aalegra)
42. Heart Attack
46. Three Rivers
49. Both Sides Of A Smile (feat. James Blake)

51. Survivor's Guilt

So close to a full week with the whole album in the top 50. Only 3k streams away.

I'd highly recommend checking out 'Psychodrama' as well wub.gif it's a concept album in the style of a therapy session.

That vinyl listing is insane, surely not? laugh.gif I sadly missed out on the original run of pressings as well so will also have a second hand browse!

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 30th July 2021, 04:09 PM

I've not listened to this yet and am sure I will, but both Clash and the one with Wizkid have not grabbed me at all, I don't think either are as good as anything that's on Psychodrama. Hoping they'll work better in the context of the album.

Posted by: Bré 31st July 2021, 01:10 AM

I will be checking out the album soon but for now I am really into 'Clash' - I know that it's not exactly the artistic masterpiece that Dave is capable of (I hope and trust there will be some of that on the album based on what everyone else has said about it!), in fact if anything it seems objectively quite lazy and just thrown out for the sake of having a big collaboration to build hype for the album, but for what it is it just comes across as such an effortlessly infectious banger anyway?! Maybe it's just bias / hype and I'll look back in a year or so and wonder why I was such a big fan of it but I'm loving it for now at least laugh.gif it's certainly a better 'Dave on drill' song than 'Paper Cuts' was at the very least anyway.

I had to google Verdansk and was surprised to find out it was a fictional place from COD (which I've never played). Very peculiar reference there!

Posted by: LiamSime 2nd August 2021, 01:50 PM

Yeah, it’s a very strange place to make a song about lol. ‘Verdansk’ has grown on me so much it’s defo one of my favourites on the album. Looking like it’s gonna get a second week in the top 20 on the chart this week, which is extremely impressive for an album track!

Posted by: Dobbo. 2nd August 2021, 02:10 PM

Same Verdansk has pushed ahead of Clash now, really enjoying it. Also love the Brick Lane reference, I used to live on that street!

BRITs performance from yesterday - another incredible one following 2020's 'Black' heart.gif

This album should be a lot more hyped on here than it is, unreal album!

Did you ever listen to the album? The song with WizKid is definitely the worst song on the album imo (sounded like a failed attempt to recreate 'Location', which was already not exactly one of the best songs on 'PSYCHODRAMA' but at least did the job of being a solid more commercial song to sell the album). And as much as I love 'Clash' for what it is I don't think it's exactly representative of the rest of the album either.

I never posted my full thoughts on the album here apparently but it is a great album, ended up liking it even more than his debut I think - 'Both Sides Of A Smile', 'In The Fire' and 'Heart Attack' in particular are top tier tracks.

Completely giving away what company I work for but they sponsor a big arena in Liverpool and such I managed to win a couple of free tickets for Dave's concert on Friday. laugh.gif

I'm really excited, his 2 performances at the BRITs have been amazing and my mates a massive fan so it'll be nice to go with him. It's my first concert for near enough exactly 2 years! I'm hoping Thiago Silva is still on the set-list.

Posted by: Jade 22nd February 2022, 05:58 PM

So jealous, clips from Dave’s tour keep coming up on my TikTok For You Page and it looks great. Have an amazing time!
