Standard green room thread for discussing the 6th edition of Buzzjackfestivalen

Welcome back to an old format! Not since 2017 have we run one of these so lemme do a cheeky wee intro for the benefit of those of you who have never taken part in BJFest before.

BJFest is our shameless rip off of melodifestivalen, Sweden’s ESC national final. As such it has a unique format and entry restrictions when compared to other BJSC hosted events.

Like in the real thing, BJFest has a strict 3min cap on entires. If your video is longer than this that’s fine as long as the song itself is max 3 mins in length.

Standard veto rules do not apply-ish. No Eurovision songs and no ESC National Final rejects. You can in theory send anything that’s 3mins or less and isn’t ESC related, but if the song would attract AV status in the standard contest we might be inclined to kick it. Generally we are more relaxed than in a normal contest.

Confirmations will open for 32 entires + the 4 moderators. As the hosts we get a guaranteed spot in BJFest. Once all the places are filled fest not, we release additional spots in batches of 4 for as many as required. There is an advantage to getting in early tho but we will try to be as flexible as we can. Ideally though we stick with a number divisible by 4 but we will see how we go.

After confirmations all the tracks are divided into one of 4 heats. You only vote in the heat you have been assigned. Be careful who you send your votes to as each heat has a different host and thus a different thread. Voting windows are quite short, but generally so is the entry list so it should be manageable (we’re talking like 10-12 tracks). In the results of the heats we will have 2 Tracks That Go direkt to finalen and two that will go into The AC second chance round. (Maybe 3 if we have a lot of entries)

From Second Chance, which everyone can vote in, a further 2 (or maybe 3 if we have a lot of tracks ) tracks will join the final.

Final Round is then held with 10 tracks in a final fight for the crown.

We have a modified voting system at Play here too which will be explained when voting goes live!

Exciting! Unsure of whether to send the song I've had planned for this for years (which I know would do terribly) or try and find something new!

So after I passed on sending 'football game' back at the start of the year, I was planning to hold onto it in case we did a BJFest this year - that plan derailed by Chestoria sending it to the main contest in the mean time I haven't come up with a clear backup plan yet so will have to have a look, nice to have this finally happening again after 4 years though *.*

Interesting idea! I wonder whether the entries will be anonymous though because I would really love to hold a national final if the country is revealed!
