Stormzy's long-awaited 2nd album is coming out in just under a month's time.
Stormzy and Ed Sheeran for Christmas #01? Ugh
No please, Xmas nightmare more like it
I don’t understand why SOTS ain’t on there
Stormzy vs. Harry Styles that week... Interesting. Both could be denied the #1 album of course, depending on what’s selling well in the run up to Christmas.
Stormzy will have streaming advantage in the race for #1
Interesting times - December the new November in terms of big releases since the albums market collapsed!
Why the flipping heck is Sounds of the Skeng not on it? That song really heightened my anticipation for the album. I can only imagine it doesn't fit with the rest of the songs (bad) or he has done another similarly intense grime banger that blows it out of the water (good). Has he written it out of history because it underperformed a bit? Wiley Flow did worse but that was more of a promotional single.
'Sounds Of The Skeng' being left off while 'Wiley Flow' made it on does seem a bit weird, if anything the latter felt more like a throwaway loose single. It may just be that he's completely abandoning grime for the album I guess which would be a shame.
That list of features does not really fill me with much hype for this album, although I am looking forward to hearing the Ed collab (and of course Stormzy has plenty of great songs without features anyway).
Own It is out tomorrow!
Own It is very good, surprisingly! #1 please
Straight to A List on Radio 1
Burma boy sounds always great on everything, pity sheeran does not
I like both Ed and Burna Boy's contributions to this but I think Stormzy himself lets it down unfortunately. I just don't really care much for him on songs like this (reminds me a bit of 'Shine Girl' with MoStack which I didn't like at all, this is better than that but it's still just decent on first listen, definitely the weakest of the singles he's dropped this year on first impressions).
This is a Bop !
Not feeling Own It. I can't bear Sheeran anyway but this just sounds like countless other forgettable landfill urban songs that have hung around the bottom reaches of the Top 40 for a month or so over the past couple of years. I wanted to like it! Starting to feel much less excited about this record :-(
I hope the release of Stormzy's album can send OI to #1
Did tbf bunk it'd be your thing Hadji, I'm not feeling it yet myself.
Stormzy, I'm guessing he'll be doing his utmost to get the Xmas double won't he after what happened with 'Shut Up'.
He may well be successful - not sure what his album will sell next week but can see it being big!
Audacity is available now
I genuinely think he could take the double next week if he pushes for the Christmas number 1 like he did with Shut up!
Come on Stormzy smash it like you did with Shut up!
Not long now for this...
Can't see him beating Ladbaby but can see him getting the No.1 album.
Yeh it'll be between him and Harry and his streams will donit for him!
Harry ahead on downloads so far!
obviously
Harry will almost definitely be ahead on physicals. I think it could be a close race but fully expecting Stormzy to be #1.
The only song I've heard from the album so far (singles aside) is the one where he sings the Tracy Beaker theme... he almost deserves the #1 for that alone
Stormzy #1 iTunes
Approved by Jacqueline Wilson.
Some good tracks on this
He was on Radio 2 this morning, Live Lounge on Radio 1 and will be co-hosting with Annie Mac on Radio 1 tonight. KING catering to all fans
This album is SO GOOD’ it’s amazing body of work.
It genuinely deserves the top spot, it’s probably even better than his debut.
Are there any songs in a similar sort of vein to Blinded By Your Grace?
Just given this album a listen, seems he already released most of the best songs on here as singles - out of the album tracks 'Rachael's Little Brother' is great and 'Handsome' is a decent standout too, as for everything else... it's a bit eh, not terrible for the most part but too many songs that are a little on the boring side. I can't really get into Stormzy's 'softer' songs much at all ('Crown' is the only one I've really cared for) and there are quite a few of those among the album tracks. But even among the other more banger-style album tracks, 'Big Michael' and 'Bronze' are just decent, 'Rainfall' is far too repetitive (although I did like the 'Shackles (Praise You)' sample x) and 'Pop Boy' is easily the worst song on the album, it's just a much weaker carbon copy of 'Vossi Bop' with a pretty terrible hook and a subpar feature from Aitch. Disappointing ~
But on the positive side I think 'Audacity' may be my favourite song on the album, really glad that he did release a song like this as a single, he needs to do that more often. And I am still really liking 3 of the other 4 singles (and 'Sounds Of The Skeng' which I really don't understand being left off this).
I actually like his softer side which is kind of gospel which is class. Blinded By Your Grace was one of my favourites of the debut.
What's this Stormzy and Wiley beef?
He has andong on the album called 'Wiley Flow'
My fav track is now Pop Boy!
waitt Own It is actually decentish
Is there another single coming? Want to return to this album soon.
'Lessons' seems to be on Capital for some reason.
Joel Corry has announced a remix for Own It coming Wednesday.
Oh and there was me thinking he’d remixed a new single when I was talking about it the other day
And here’s Joel’s remix!
I didn't get this song at all but that Joel Corry remix is a banger!
