Little Mix x2 to smash please! *.*
Little Mix to smash with No More Sad Songs please
17. Lorde - Green Light
the new Little Mix will get off to a quick start, Top 5 on itunes? shame they're releasing the dull tropical one instead of Power but there you go
Also Ed invasion incoming, Galway Girl to smash x
That 'Galway Girl' is the cheesiest thing going. Such awful lyrics. Sounds like 'In Blue' era The Corrs which is so not a good thing. No doubt it will chart highly.
And as for 'Perfect' being better than 'Thinking Out Loud' according to Ed...nothing could be further from the truth. It's formulaic and contrived. Again should be a big hit.
Front page still not updated
Come on Lorde. Come on Little Mix.
BOTH have to smash hopefully, adore them so much

Ed Sheeran domination not as much as I thought. I thought more of his songs would be iTunes top 40 by now.
More people only just waking up give him a few hours now
Ed's chart domination will come more from Spotify than iTunes I'd imagine
It's only 9am and he has 2 album tracks on the top 40. Soon all of them will be cuz most of them already top 100.
Ed Sheeran madness here we come, other artists should have waited for next week to release new music they have no chance, Little Mix might just get a top 40 chart position.
was expecting to wake up and have the entire iTunes top 40 filled with ed album tracks, agree the effect will probably be bigger on Spotify
I'm a fan but after a couple listens I think the album is terrible and easily his worst, the lyrics are beyond bad, his attempts at rap are embarrassing, Barcelona might be the worst song I've ever heard or at least the one including more cliches
Ed Sheeran just seems to be rehashing everything he's already done before from what I've heard. Shape Of You aside.
New Cash Cash & ROZES is decent, wonder if that will get anywhere
26. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
Lorde #8
best news!!!!
Thought Barcelona was the worst thing Ed has ever done, then I heard Nancy Mulligan, oh my is he serious?
I think most people will buy the album over the weekend, plus streaming will be slow to begin with.
Nancy Mulligan is my favourite
That last update
Looks like The Chainsmokers & Coldplay will sneak to the top on iTunes for a short time before the Ed takeover!
Didn't realise Coldplay/Chainsmokers were that close!
Definitely on lorde's hype train this week. Stay high as long as possible please!
Ugh great so Play That Song probably will outpeak HSS now
Is the Lorde song a grower? I wasn't too fussed on first listen.
Ed needs to go away. He's had a handful of genuinely good songs but this new stuff is just abysmal. I'm sure people will look back on it and cringe. Those faux-Irish songs are the worst things I've heard for a long time. He needs to take another year out sooner rather than later.
The Lorde track is gorgeous after a few listens, loving it. I hope the track gets a top 20 entry.
I thought Lorde would do a Lana, so I am very pleased it is at #08 already.
I think it will get stuck at #07 but I would love it to make the top 5.

61. Ed Sheeran - Hearts Don't Break Around Here
What's the story with the new Coldplay single? A bit strange of them to release a new single two weeks after the release of the Chainsmokers collab?
It's from their upcoming EP. Presumably not a radio single just something for the fans whilst SJLT gets them the chart hit.

omg rise Nancy Mulligan rise!!!!
Galway Girl is already #1 on Irish iTunes!
I think it's a good album on first listen, I don't understand why he gets such huge success though when many other artists of a similar genre are just as good or better!
It crazy his whole album almost too 50 due to cherry picking do ppl not realise cheaper to buy whole album
Sales rip next Friday is going to be frustrating to do
With mother's day fast approaching, the album is going to keep selling, also with TT in contention in a few weeks time, with TT album tracks in the singles chart.
Green Light is light green
Yayyy for Lorde making the top 10 I really hope she is at least top 40 this week, will be a lil bit annoying if she's just kept out by all of Ed's album tracks.
Hope Little Mix can get top 10 before Ed manages to overtake them!

Yes Chainsmokers back at 1
Does it even matter when Ed has about 47 versions that put him miles ahead anyway.
LEA MICHELE!
Didn't realise she was relevant enough to grab a top 100 iTunes smash *_* (need to listen to it tbh)
Galway Girl hitting #1 would be awesome! It's so so different to anything we've had in the charts of late and culturally important too as it brings Irish influences to the chart. The best track on the album by far.
Ed performing twice on "The One Show", first up "Castle On The Hill", an acoustic version...
Yay for COTH, but I assume that means the other will be 'Shape Of You'?

'Supermarket Flowers'... interesting choice. I imagine the mums and older generation will lap that up though, so I guess it was the right choice for 'The One Show' demographic.
EDIT: Oh and I'm not surprised to see Joseph's fave being the least popular of the Ed tracks :')
Go on Galway Girl! #1 please!
I heard 'Galway Girl' on Heart FM today, no surprise that's the highest album track! Sounded like a bit of a bop.
(can you not knock Lorde out of the top 10 though Ed :'()
09. Lorde - Green Light
Hope she doesn't free fall
Yeah, she's down to #9, but all of Ed's album tracks are dark red (and she is light green) and the numbers are messed up coz I have...
07. Ed - Galway Girl 0.4521
08. Ed - Perfect 0.4377
09. Lorde - Green Light 0.4910
10. Ed - Castle 0.4451
Is it like that for anyone else/does this happen a lot?
Bizarre that Ed's tracks are all already dark red (even the one he performed on The One Show) so I think I might just have a dodgy update tbh.
EDIT: After refreshing like 4 times, writing this post and then refreshing again after I post this... it's obviously sorted itself out lmao.

Dear God that's depressing. People only really like Ed Sheeran because they're told to like him, his songs are average at best.
I listened to Radio 1's 'Divide' listening party yesterday and I did think it was 'average'!
12. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
Oh wow! Galway Girl is the highest non-Shape of You Ed song
Castle On The Hill brings back the sort of Snow Patrol type sound to the charts so that is good. Nancy Mulligan is a better Irish influenced song than Galway Girl I think.
There is a sheep mentality, considering the Chainsmokers domination in dance in the charts is becoming like the David Guetta domination in the early 2010s, and there are plenty of better dance songs out there better imo than Martin Garrix's two recent rather generic future bass songs, but they seem to be popular because he's Martin Garrix and they both feature well known vocalists who have had hits before. Tbh I would call Martin Garrix's two recent songs very loosely dance as they are not very dancey songs, to me they are just pop songs with a not very danceable to (imo) electronic drop.
10. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
I totally see what Jack means. Ed is forced down the throats as some hugely credible artist, it's quite inescapable and a lot of people I know that know pretty much nothing about music automatically 'love' Ed Sheeran. That's not to say he doesn't have some good music, but he really is pushed as 'real music', when a lot of people who loved him are the same people who'd turn their noses up at out and out pop - not knowing that Ed uses a lot of the same co-writers and producers as those artists.
What I hate is how some people have this sort of "if you're not dancing to it, you don't care what song is on" attitude. If you're not bothered about what song is on, why are you even listening to music anyway?
Having said that, they're not really listening to music, they're just hearing it. There's a big difference between the two.
12. Lorde - Green Light
I do get that, explaining it that way is a good way to put it. I love Ed LOADS but a lot of people I know irl who don't really listen to a wide range of music do act like he's the only person ever to write and produce his own music and that makes him so far above anyone else. I enjoy Ed's music for what it is, not becasue he's a "real talent" and so much above out and out the same old pop.
it's what they're trying to do will lots of UK artists recently, Ed, Adele, George Ezra, James Bay, but actually none of them write their own songs, they always co-write with others, an even with teams...
And what's the problem with co-writing? (Just a general question, not trying to talk down to you haha)
Tbh, as long as the song is good, I don't really care if the artist has written it or not. It's such a snobby way to view things, imo. Obviously it's a bonus if I know it's written by that artist, but if it's not and it's a jam, I don't really hold it against them as it isn't really fair.
As then it is real emotion expressed by the artist. If not, they become somgbirds, or even as low as the Westlife coverband puppet level.
for me personally it's different
writing your songs on your own
or working with those teams and adding a comma here, a comma there
of course a good song is a good song and a good artist is a good artist
but for me a real singer songwriter does not need a team to work with
I honestly couldn't give a flying Judi Dench who writes the song, if it's a good song it's a good song!
Solo Dance top 10 is very impressive, if it wasn't for Ed Sheeran Martin would be getting a top 20 placing this week - hopefully it'll get there in future though. Just shows how much it pays to have a 59p reduction, he's over doubled in sales since the reduction meaning not only is his chart position improved, he's earning more ŁŁŁ
Well little mox and 1 direction are party bands and 0 clue how to write songs. They sit in song writing teams and add comas or change a word here or there with no input to the melody either. That type of 'co write' or Beyonce's even more egregious form of accepting aongs if she can have her names on the credits -and no song writer is refusing that- is what should be looked down upon.

I thought most solo artists co-wrote. Often it just means that the artist wrote a song and then someone else looked at it and made some suggestions.
The bigger they get the less chance thwy have of that happening, as the record company gets a huge vested interest in them doing well. Then come the overproduced albums - chexk out Coldplay after their 4th.
Shape of You just got performed on The Voice
13. Lorde - Green Light
21. Little Mix - No More Sad Songs
27. Coldplay - Hypnotised
New releases falling relatively quickly
'Solo Dance' climbing so fast
07. Train - Play That Song
I'm quite happy about Solo Dance getting that high, it's growing on me a lot and it's very good the only part that let's it down is the generic drop in the chorus but I'm pleased it's getting bigger anyhow!
For someone co-writing the song, that could surely mean the artist writes all the lyrics but others had input into the melody and musicality?
Like for example, most traditional pop artists aren't going to do all the production on the song themselves.
64. Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals
Human up to N.3 again.
64 Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals
This to somehow smash please
oh ffs Human's doing a Can't Stop The Feeling. GO AWAY ALREADY
EDIT: Human back to #02
62 Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals
86 Take That - Giants (Welcome boost for this as it dropped to #99 earlier)
'False Alarm' being performed on The Voice I don't expect any kind of boost but it's such an underrated gem
Any sign of J-Hud's 'Remember Me' after The Voice performance?
54. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight
63. Jennifer Hudson - Remember Me
The new ALT-J is out if anyone cares like I do it's fantastic.
ITS OK GUYS STEPS ARE COMING TO STOP THE ED DOMINATION THIS FRIDAY
47. Jennifer Hudson - Remember Me
55. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight
I think what mdh means is that Robbie isn't the sort of artist that this age bracket would care about, so the song being known to and popular with them means it's done well. I always kind of think that too, my friends are sort of 18-20 but I feel like a song is a hit when they know it
2. Ed Sheeran- Shape Of You (Stormzy Remix)
3. Katy Perry - Chained To the Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley)
4. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human
I'd have thought uni students are the biggest consumers of streaming, followed by those doing A levels. Just due to the amount of time is on their hands compared to everyone else! My last.fm chart is still filled with stuff I listened to at uni, at a massively disproportionate rate to what I now listen to!
147. 3WW - alt-J
Interested to see how high this will go. It's not at all a chart friendly song, anywhere in the top 100 would be a great achievement for it really. Such a great comeback though, I think it is possibly their best song to date.
2 Katy Perry Chained To the Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley)
Shame streaming isn't better for this one, Ed or not.
45 Jennifer Hudson - Remember Me (This needs to smash!)
127 alt-J - 3WW
3. Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl
9. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
66. Just Us - Cloudbusting
108. alt-J - 3WW
13. Lorde - Green Light
Glad to see it stable now
Yay at Lorde not continuing to freefall. Hoping she can get back to the top 10 soon.
'Galway Girl' now the highest Ed track *.* (still behind 'Shape Of You' after its millions of versions are combined ik). Has to be the 3rd single.
alt-J still not top 100 D: I guess they're gonna be 100% an albums act now even though they had 3 top 100 hits from each of the first 2 albums. Hoping the album will be another top 5 for them at least.
117. Calum Scott - Rhythm Inside
Maybe it's not too late!
I don't know why there's no more buzz about Alt J, amazing band and incredible comeback, much better than anything on album 2
One of the surprising things about "Galway Girl" for me is there are 9 writers on the Credits for a 2:50 track!
Was it just a case of everyone in the Studio at the time of Recording got a credit...
Poor little mix they really did choose wrong week I'm hoping they can get time to give it some promotion
Yeah LM are defo looking to miss the top 40 this week. Not great for them, unlucky week for sure.

"Linking Park"
I am hoping out of that list Shooting Stars is a hit (although it isn't as good as the similarly named Flip and Fill song!). Also On My Mind is definitely better than Disciples' stuff after They Don't Know, which I liked, glad they have gone a bit less minimal now. Unlikely either is a hit though.
Cloudbusting does look like it will go low top 40 eventually officially once Radio 1 decide to playlist it.
This is a better Galway Girl than the Ed Sheeran song, remember it as it was on an advert about 10 years ago!
Ooh alt-J so close to the top 100, c'monnn please climb a little bit more! I would be more than satisfied with top 100 on iTunes for '3WW' as it is not very commercial in the slightest. I'm pretty sure that it's my favourite song of the year so far
It's not really a big deal if Little Mix miss the top 40, when we all know they'll be receiving huge airplay within a couple of weeks and will spend multiple weeks in the top 40. I really hope it does make the top 10 though.
02. Ed Sheeran - 'Galway Girl' - pleased that this has really taken off (well all the album tracks have but this the most) as it's my 2nd favourite of the album after 'Castle on the Hill'
104. alt-J - '3WW'
Expecting The xx to re-enter the top 1500 at some point soon with 'Say Something Loving' as the video has dropped.
Galway Girl will most likely be the next official #1.
Galway Girl seems to be doing a Love Yourself, I think it'll be the official number one in two or three weeks.
read a rumour Drake is releasing a duet with J.Lo, if true that could be #1 for 75 weeks
8. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
55. Just Us - Cloudbusting
15. Lorde - Green Light
23. Zedd & Alessia Cara - Stay
62. ALMA - Dye My Hair
Dye My Hair to finally get huge pls
Dye my Hair is A fantastic pop song!
It'd be awesome for it to smash, not often we get a pop song with such a heavy beat, definitely makes it seem quite house like as well as being a fun pop song. Makes it stand out from the dull, bland pop we see most of the time!
Just goes to show radio 1 B listing can boost a song a lot if it's good, I've no doubt people like it!
98. alt-J - 3WW
yasssss hopes now met
801. Fleet Foxes - Third of May / Ōdaigahara
Brand new single from them after six years since their last album!
Dye My Hair is horrendous Really don't see the appeal at all, her voice has always gone right through me for some reason.
306 Jack Garratt Weathered
I was wondering why this was suddenly so high... but figured it out! it's featured in the latest episode of Girls (s06e04), at the very ending, in full and at a key scene for which the song fits perfectly
get those 25 sales from being 300-ish on itunes Jack Garratt
05. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
Solo Dance could be a potential #17 then?
( )
Issues 39
looking very good for top 40 next week
04. Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
05. Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios
amazing to see Martin Jensen and Anne-Marie do so well, the power of being 59p never fades.
Happy to see Anne-Marie doing so well! Love "Ciao Adios". Hopefully a lot of Ed's tracks will fall hugely next week to allow her to climb up a lot.
09. Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me
18. Lorde - Green Light
37. Julia Michaels - Issues
45. Just Us - Cloudbusting
Say Something Loving will only do something when they get airplay. (Not that it's going to be a big hit either way, unless they perform it on Graham Norton).

34. Julia Michaels - Issues
232. Public Service Broadcasting - Progress (feat. Tracyanne Campbell)
1. Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl
I see the Ed Sheeran w**kfest is continuing then.
Solo Dance rising so quickly is baffling, it doesn't even have that many youtube views and isn't playlisted by Radio 1. I thought it usually took longer for a song to become a hit these days and rise up the chart, especially from an unknown artist like Martin Jensen. danG suggested it is because of spotify payola for the top playlists but if he is right, why is it so high on itunes now too with little airplay?
Discounted price and commercial radio airplay.
Front page on Hot songs......
Hoping Green Light gets a big push. Would be great to see it go 59p once the Ed domination has calmed down a bit.
