The album will be released on March 9th ! A cover album, but still, the video gets me excited and I can really see me enjoying it (and her voice ). Hopefully she gets enough success with it so she can work on her next own album. |

Not impressed at the thought of a covers album at all. Her original material this far has been fantastic and she needs to keep bringing it.

in all honesty, who here can say they know the original billie holiday in any form at all? it's basically going to be a new album to many so i don't see the fuss, she'll undoubtedly put something new out toward christmas...

This, I guess the only "fear" is that the music doesn't sound very current and doesn't fit very well in 2015's pop landscape. But I'm sure it will be amazing. |

Covering an entire album is such a bizarre move. I can't see how it was justified as a good decision at this stage of her career. Even on the off-chance that it does well, I'd imagine it'd be selling to an older demographic who may not be interested in a studio album from her and she'd be alienating a lot of younger/other fans, which she can't really afford to be doing. I would think it'll pretty much flop though which is obviously even worse.
Both her albums were superb and she should be focusing her attention on another instead of this. |

how many younger people (aside from the internet gays) have actually bought into her as an artist? i'd argue she's been chasing that older demographic since she put out her first record...?
she's blessed with an easy listening voice and a concept that as lazy as it is, is fresh to the market in 2014 and it'll sell well over mother's day. her audience isn't as all watching and analysing as we are. it's an easy sell and for those younger fans out there it'll bring a different generation of music that we would never experience otherwise. i have no doubt there will be another record come the end of the year. |

I know of half or so of these songs! But to a lot of people I agree it will just be new songs for all intents and purposes. This will be good to bridge the gap between Freedom and the next record. |

I think she actually had quite wide appeal at the beginning, which was obviously helped by being fresh off X Factor. Her second album only really had one, arguably poor, single and was badly promoted which would have lost her a lot of momentum, something I feel could be somewhat won back with the release of a radio-friendly/hit-chasing single now. I do appreciate that she was geared towards an older demographic as well but I can only see her further losing grasp of her younger (casual) fans with this. I don't buy into the idea that it'll bring a different generation of music to them or do well in general but we'll see - it's all about promotion.

she did have quite wide appeal but she was also a mild-mannered, somewhat shy mother of two and now a mother of a young child on top. she evidently has no ambitions on being a more fully-rounded popstar and i think. the traditional x-factor mum's market fits perfectly for her; minimum thought and effort required whilst still putting out music and making money on a regular basis.

Is this actually a viable market though?! Who has exploited it almost exclusively and maintained success? I guess Joe McElderry at a push. I do get your general point though. |

I do get your general point though. of course, her mild manner is perfect for the likes of this morning and loose women (when she isn't passing out post-performance). she has that "mum" feel which helps her sell her music to the older market. she will be fine. (don't get me wrong, i too would love to see her do a dance album or even work with contemporary producers as she does have a lot of potential but realistically it isn't ever going to happen because first of all she doesn't want it herself) |
