BuzzJack Music Forum _ Lady Gaga _ 'A-Yo' • 2nd Instant Grat

Posted by: HausofTravis 17th October 2016, 05:49 PM

With the album out there to hear, speculation and rumours are already underway for the 2nd single.

So far some radio sources are stating it is 'A-Yo' which is one of my least favourites on the album on first listen so CAN IT NOT gahh sad.gif :/ I am making my sinner's prayer that it's a false rumour.

Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Dancin' In Circles, Million Reasons >>>

Posted by: Rob Spears 17th October 2016, 09:17 PM

Out tomorrow.

Posted by: HausofTravis 17th October 2016, 09:19 PM

Shouldn't even be a promo single but I'll let it be as long as it doesn't get full treatment.

The cover is amazing though.

Posted by: Joe. 17th October 2016, 09:23 PM

The artwork is fantastic. I'm loving all the artwork this era so far, there's a real sense of self.

Posted by: HarryEzra 17th October 2016, 09:32 PM

I like that artwork for it ohmy.gif

Sinner's Prayer is trash.

Yasss Ayo!!!

SHOULDA BEEN THE FIRST SINGLE!!!

IT IS THE GYPSY OF THIS CAMPAIGN!!!

Posted by: skankhunt42 18th October 2016, 12:51 PM

This Gypsy-like single MIGHT stop her descent into being like Cyndi Lauper, it will be MASSIVE!!!!

Posted by: Joe. 18th October 2016, 12:53 PM

Lmao at the Cyndi Lauper comparisons. So random!

Posted by: HausofTravis 18th October 2016, 04:14 PM

It is tge only good song on the whole album!!

Of course it won't be massive massive as she is Z list but it'll do well enough.#MIRRORSONTHECEILING?!

Posted by: blacksquare 18th October 2016, 04:52 PM

I didn't realise Super Bowl were searching through the Z-List for performers. Relevancy is measured differently than a decade ago anyway.

Posted by: blacksquare 18th October 2016, 04:54 PM

I can't decide if this would have been a hit leading into the album, it's divisive but there is something catchy/irritating about it.

I think it's probably too late now (if it is actually a single).

Posted by: HausofTravis 18th October 2016, 04:56 PM

Official audio~

It is definitely catchy but I just can't warm to it sad.gif

Posted by: skankhunt42 18th October 2016, 05:03 PM

Live version a MILLION YIMES BETTER!!

The new Swine.

She no longer wants to be famous. She is the biggest flop these days sad.gif Miley Cyrus will be getting a flea in her ear from her record company to avoid the same flopstination.

Posted by: Rob Spears 18th October 2016, 05:04 PM

Ok, I really like A-Yo!

At last!! cheer.gif

Flopstination? What even? blink.gif Some of these posts are embarrassing.

Posted by: J▲hq 18th October 2016, 05:25 PM

I think the hook / line where she's singing 'A-Yo' is catchy and decent but the rest isn't very good. Definitely not a hit at any point in the campaign.

Posted by: mr_pmt 18th October 2016, 05:39 PM

Meh

Posted by: Davidson 18th October 2016, 05:48 PM

It is much better than 'Perfect Illusion' but it isn't great (kinda the theme of the album).

Posted by: HausofTravis 18th October 2016, 06:04 PM

It would rank as her worst single ever (below You & I and Applause) for me if it gets full single treatment. DON'T DO IT GAGA sad.gif

DO IT FOR JUSTICE!!

Having said that, I'm listening to it now for the first time and I can see why... ph34r.gif

Were we expecting to hear about it everywhere? It's a promo single for an album being released with very little hype at the moment.

We probably all need to accept that the era is not going to be any sort of commercial or media stormed event and either listen to the album and enjoy it or ignore it if the music isn't impressing you. She's basically buried the artist FKA crazy lady gaga, this is almost like a brand new artist releasing an album especially musically with her retreat back to the music she was making 10 years ago. It's difficult to follow it longing for former glories because those glories were SO glorious. The album is so much more enjoyable when you don't compare it to the albums that have come before.

everything i've heard so far has been has been unlistenable tho. it has nothing to do with the hype or lack thereof around her.

it's not easy or clever to go from the kind of artist she used to be to barely any promo or hype. people are used to that from her now. its what she known for. and it's what i'll miss. she used to back it all up with great songs too. now she has neither and it feels like such a loss.

Oh obviously if you're not liking the music then it's a different matter altogether. The lack of hype or promo is understandable though? She has said that she had to express herself with theatrics and being outrageous in the past but now she has matured she can do it in much simpler ways. I wouldn't want her to continue playing up to a character she no longer wants to be just because I miss it? I'm more than happy to let her avoid hyping up the material and just record what she enjoys recording and releasing it for whoeever wants to hear it. I do like 50% of the music in the album so i'm ok, but if you're not liking any of it I guess there's no hope in supporting her this era and probably best to just ignore it (which is easy because it's got no hype or promo or being mentioned anywhere away from her social media / us stans tongue.gif)

i honestly wish i hadn't just watched that

it's never bothered me that she's pretentious, that she's so obsessed w her work before because it was so important to the image and the music she was making. i don't even mind that i don't like anything from this album yet. whats bothering me is she is trying to shed off all these 'layers' and yet this is somehow the most contrived thing she ever done.

aye it would be fine if i actually liked the music but so far i've not liked any of the new stuff which is a shame because i now feel completely disconnected with this new side to her and don't hold much faith in whatever she puts out in the future under this new guise / incarnation / whatever you want to call it. i remember thinking the whole build up to born this way was way too over the top and a bit grotesque so theres that, she can definitely do too much and put people off that way, but i feel like she's gone a bit too far down the rabbit hole of joanne and anti-gaga too quick. transitioning into that kind of artist is understandable but this almost feels more contrived than the over the top artpop.

I really don't see how this music is contrived when it is most similar to the stuff she was making 10 years ago in those New York bars... She has musically gone closer to Stefani Germonatta than she's ever done before since she became 'Gaga' and released 'Just Dance'. This isn't even a transition, it's a regression to who she used to be, surely?

i've only been exposed to just dance onwards. for the stans who have delved into what she was like beforehand sure it looks like a regression but to the general public i feel it is looking v contrived and off putting. again i think it comes to wether the music is able to back everything else up and for me this era its not which is a shame because she's actually one of my favourite artists and i was willing perfect illusion to be a fluke.

Ok I fully get you now (and this is how the majority of people will see it I guess). Yeah pre-Just Dance was very rocky and ballad-y and shouty and gritty but if you don't know any of that and only have Just Dance to compare it too then I guess it can be seen as too far a transformation from what she was. This album is a definite return to that early sound though with slight twists throughout. It's fair enough if you don't enjoy it, many won't - certainly for me it's the weakest album she's done to date by FAR too, oops.

I'm the sort of stan that can't hate on her for choosing to release this type of music. I'm far too invested in her as a person to constantly will her to release the same types of music over and over again just to remain on top. I mean, I certainly wish the music was stronger too whatever genre she did but I do still enjoy this album so I haven't abandoned hope yet. It was painful watching her during the ARTPOP era where you can tell she was being pulled in 15 different directions and lashed out against everything and everyone - considering that, this era is a healing for her and a time where she can regain some normality in her life both musically and personally. I'm personally here for that.

I don't think it's contrived. I think we all knew she would show us the *real Stefani* at some point, but perhaps not so soon. I just don't think the music is good enough to compensate the change.

Posted by: blacksquare 19th October 2016, 08:37 AM

A lot of people love Gaga for her pop sensibitlies and theatrics. It's sad to see that go. Whilst Gaga has been experimenting (ageing herself) with jazz and country music, Beyoncé has released two era defining visual albums. She literally gave us Artpop without all the pretense.

And then we got Joanne. It hurts my head.

Posted by: Liаm 19th October 2016, 09:16 AM

This is incredible, by far my favourite on the album and keeps growing. It reminds me of if Taylor released Shake It Off in the Red era instead of 1989 musically, but equally it would kinda be weird if anyone else sang it laugh.gif

Lmao this is already dropping on iTunes. A complete flop even for a promo single. She cannot follow through with this being a proper single. 'Million Reasons' will overtake it again (and is showing very good stability since its release) - go with that! It's the safest option.

LOVING this!! 'Million Reasons' would be the sensible second single pick for sure but I much prefer this as a song. Currently on repeat *.*

Posted by: mr_pmt 26th October 2016, 04:57 PM

I'm seeing around Twitter and FB that Interscope have confirmed this as the second single, if so then that is the most stupid single choice this year (probably tying with 'Kill 'Em With Kindness').

Posted by: Dannoween 27th October 2016, 08:43 AM

Thing is though, this is doing better on Spotify and Million Reasons is doing better on iTunes. So it will end up being a Needed Me/Kiss It Better situation where neither are particularly big hits (not the best analogy as NM was a US top 10, I know but that's all I got)
