I sent imaduck a reminder on PopJustice as usual so oops at him not voting xx 'only' 5 non-voters is not terrible for a contest of this size I guess though ~
I have paid less mind than ever to how my song is going to do, this is one where I'm pretty happy just to be in the final no matter what - I'm feeling lucky for going for a new unique position (that 30th place WILL BE MINE).
Doss to win pls (if it's not a surprise winner) as the other major contenders are not at all to my taste x

It is a good song so I'm not mad but as far as Aeroche entries go this actually wasn't one I was expecting to see being a contender! (although I suppose instrumentals have been somewhat en vogue recently with Nora En Pure and Worakls both winning)

Good evening Altyr Muunilinst, this is Ricardo Delta calling with this month's Rontvian vote. Thanks for an excellent show and for presiding over another brilliant selection of songs. As well as our own entry, we sadly lost seven of our favourites at the semi stage this month, including our 12 from Republic of Adonia, though this was perhaps to be expected in such a big field. Nevertheless, it was still a great final.
We have asked a professional jury to rank the songs this month, and the five strong panel consists of Delta Goodrem, ATB, Alba August, DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ and Andreas Johnson. Good evening all, here are the votes from Utopia. 16 songs we wanted to vote for this month, so Persephonia can count themselves a little unlucky at missing out. In positions 6-15 Aeroche, D'yermak'er, Numayania, Skall and Elëdan all return to the points this month, with Danæviia, Aelandor and Cumulonimbia each getting a second consecutive set, whilst Dobago receive Utopian points for a fourth contest running and Rolloland a fifth.
Into the top 5 are much loved songs, both recent and classic, from Kluminican Republic and Zanmatony with Kathaldazia continuing an excellent run of entries receiving this months' 13. Thats good Hendinia are doing well I liked the song, that Ulrikke song should have been entered into Melodi Grand Prix and won this year and been Norways Eurovision entry imo. The actual 2021 winning song for MGP is disappointing imo.
Also Buzzjack Mountain's next entry is like it in style of music I think, its VERY Eurovision sounding anyway I can reveal so a good performance for Hendinia bodes well for us hopefully next time.

Greetings BJSC! Another amazing contest, at least 4 of these songs were worthy of 18 points. Both of our top 2 are from past decades, courtesy of Numayania and Zanmatony - 'Dream A Dream' is 90s gold and 'Don't Falter' is just so catchy and happy TARO Bellamia and Singerpurear offered massive growers. Xenomania and Paige Cavell got Harmonica's 18 last time they were sent, so it was great to have them back, but the competition was just too strong this time!

Picking up our 18 points is a grand welcome back to N DNTN picking up the quality as they left it (we'll ignore that their last entry before this one wasn't that great) serving a melancholy banger which is always the key to our hearts x This marks their fifth gold medal from us in total alongside 3 silvers and 3 bronzes, with their last 18 from us being their third-from-last entry before their hiatus (Yaeji in BJSC 99) and their last appearance in our votes being BJSC 100's Charlotte Gainsbourg who got 9 points. With some blissful RÜFÜS DU SOL esque vibes our silver medal goes this month to the ever hyped Kluminican Republic who we hope can capitalise off a less hypey month to actually get a big hit this time. This brings their medal tally from us up to 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze (their last medal position being 13 for Cosmo Sheldrake in BJSC 108, while this marks their highest points since also picking up 15 for Gang Of Youths in BJSC 102). Completing the podium is a weave-snatching techno BANGER from Kathaldazia, 13 points matching the highest we have given to them (previously also getting 13 for Pascal Letoublon in BJSC 124). This continues our record of giving them at least 9 points in every final they have qualified for since their 2020 comeback, after giving them a combined total of only 5 points in all the years prior to that. A rejuvenation! Also making the top 5, 12 points go to the former Persephonian potential bite-sized UK garage stomper from Cumulonimbia and 11 points go to a rather unique blend of R&B and UK drill which we were thrilled to see making the final for D'yermak'er, with this also marking their highest points from us since BJSC 124 when they picked up 15 points with Blanche.
Continuing a run of quality entries in 2021 Dobago claim another 10 points with their latest floorfiller. 9 points go to a DnB tune with shades of Pendulum from Trifoski, a slow burning French synthpop jam from Jadakissnia nets them 8 points to add to the pile we've continuously given them over the years, there's more synthpop in the 7 point slot for the lovely Elëdan for their highest points from us in a final since our full 18 to Erika Lundmoen in BJSC 114, and the top 10 is rounded out by something a bit different in the form of Singerpurear's indigenous Canadian icon (we can appreciate a bit of First Nations music, just look at our own entry 'Sisters' x) claiming 6 points. Mealworms of the month are 5 points for Aeroche (feat. my spirit animal in the visualiser), 4 to another synthy number from Rolloland, 3 to #longsongbloc connoisseurs Skall (RIP Vülkyria but at least we got this sax instrumental in), 2 to the teen movie soundtrack core cut from Cor Lupus and 1 to Aelandor's Lion King tribute (or, if you'd like, 0.5 points to each song xx).

A very good top three, probably the most predictable in years but all deserve their success.
Really pleased to see ASHS and Leony both made the top ten in the end! A strong top end all round.
Down the other end, I don’t understand how Ojnoj are the only country under 100 points I really liked it.

Sorry for that taking forever - my trusty quick method of finding discrepancies seemed to not be working for some reason and it took me a while to realise that was because John already found and corrected it before I actually worked out what the issue was. xx (It was that Altyr Muunilinst themselves were missing 4 points so that may explain why John worked it out so quickly)

Congrats Chris and pleased with 3rd. My 3rd top 3 placing in 6 months and 4th top 10 in a year *.* Not too bothered about not winning as it outdid my expectations. Legit thought it would just scrape through or something lmao.
Aelandor and Ojnoj deserved much better very pleased to see Zamnatony in the top 10. I didn't even know the song when it charted until now. Living under a rock clearly.

Oh yay, I was so ready to be disappointed in this result, but the best one came through (sorry sorry, but the other two in that top 3 were about the furthest thing from my taste than could be so was slightly side-eying those odds x), Puppy was fantastic and I had the sense it could be a winner contender, congrats to Chris, it's like it's 2013 all over again! *.*
So close to all of my top 3 making it into the top 10, really pleased in particular to see Dobago there, will never get tired of orchestral dance, gimme a whole contest of it x

Also pretty good results on the whole. The winner just missed out on my votes but was still great, second placed Hendinia did get in my vote, and I voted for Aeroche and Danæviia as well so it's good to see them all in the top ten, the rest of the top ten that I didn't vote for were almost all enjoyable songs too. A bit of a shame to see my 18 Kathaldazia fall just short of the ten (and Mosquetania who I also voted for missing out by a tiebreak to Elëdan who were in my commiserations list!) but still a good performance. Pleased that Taahino finished as high as 26th and Skall avoided the bottom five too!

Congrats Chris! It was in my Top 15 after first listen but fefll quite a bit throughout the week whoops, still a good song though. Fab to see Zanmatony Top 10 and Singerpurear Top 20 as well! Shame to see Ojnoj in last though, missed my votes but one of the songs I can actually recall quite well now. big yes for N DNTN winning as they were very much my fave of the contenders, congrats! also amazing to see Dobago and Zanmatony out-do the odds so much to reach top 10 as well, Zanmatony have had a very impressive comeback getting 2 back to back top 10s!
Arcodesia deserved a lot better though at least they managed a few +18s from the dance bloc, and Cumulonimbia bottom 5 is a big shame.

Entirely possible that such a thing might have happened already, there's no way we'd ever know about it for sure! (LION BABE's 'Treat Me Like Fire' came 8th after only qualifying because the number of qualifiers was expanded from 15 to 16 on a whim, and in the mess contest of BJSC 64 Ben Khan's 'Youth' came 6th but later turned out that it would have DNQed if the semi-finals had gone ahead as planned - I'm sure there must be other examples of songs that just missed out but would have smashed if they had made it in, not a huge leap to imagine that could include potential winners in especially close contests).

True. There was (an admittedly ancient) BJSC adage back in the day that the ‘wrong semi effect’ was a bit overhyped and that songs strong enough to win the entire thing should have enough widespread appeal to make it through the semi regardless of who’s in it.
But I really don’t believe that rings true anymore, especially as quite often we distinctly have one more pop semi and one more alt/indie/dance semi. They very rarely seem completely balanced, and an indie song being lumped into a pop semi doesn’t always end well, and vice versa.
Of course on the flip side are the songs who end up with basically all of their supporters in their semi, and then tank in the final when either no additional support comes their way from the opposite semi, or their original semi voters desert them when more songs are added into the mix.
A wide appealing song is of course the most important thing but there is certainly a large element of luck to the semi draws, especially on contests like this one with a much larger number of entrants.

This is the first time my 18 has won since 'Ellipsis', too lazy to look up exactly how many times it's happened in total but I think it's only 5 or 6 times - I don't know if I'd have pinned Doss as a winner contender if not for other people hyping it but I'm thrilled that the hype turned out to be warranted, really feels like stepping back in a time machine to the good old days of BJSC hipster smoothie domination (and not only because it's N DNTN although partially because of that as well x). As I hinted at already Hendinia and Summericia were both v much not my thing (Hendinia grew on me a little bit on my final listenthrough and ended up not being in my bottom 3, Summericia... is still a hard pass for me sorry!) but congrats to the both for also living up to the hype, pat on the back to those who did predictions this month xx
Great to see Aeroche in the top 5 + Dobago and Elëdan both in the top 10! Also Zanmatony getting another new peak at this rate they'll get their first win in 8 contests' time this one only just missed out on my votes so also happy to see it! Would have loved to see Kathaldazia finally getting a top 10 again as well (so close!) but at least it's stll their biggest hit since their comeback ~ also a decent enough result for Klum Rep if lower than I had hoped, and a few more of my votes sneaking into the top 20 in the form of Rolloland, Jadakissnia and Singerpurear (especially surprised by the latter as I didn't expect that one to even qualify!)
The big disappointment here is Cumulonimbia, I guess I shouldn't be surprised given its hype vacuum but I'd have been severely let down if I'd sent it and only come 39th :'( deserved soooo much better than that. As it were, my entry has indeed slightly beaten the entry that I previously had as a potential for a second month in a row, so my apologies to Doctor Blind as well as to LewisGT last month
Shame that I mostly hit a drought in the second half after being a top 20 contender early on but at the end of the day I had absolutely no expectations here so I'll take 33rd, just glad to finally have the song out there after it being constrained to the potentials list purgatory for half a decade, and that it at least appealed enough to make the final and pick up a few medals (thanks again 152chris, Harve and Rollo my faves <3) - although I see it was a pretty close shave in the semi-final eek! I'll have to actually bother to find something new for the next contest so hopefully I haven't got too rusty at potential searching

A huge thanks you to all who voted for Buffy, that was a lovely surprise, not only that she made the final, but did so well, exceeding expectations! 19th is a new spot for Singerpurear, nestling nicely in between Aus aboriginal Yothu Yindi at 18 and Japanese quirky pop REOL at 20. On the chat on semis to finals, yes it really is a thing - Buffy wouldn't have qualified by some distance in a very pop/dance semi if not for the 12 points from Iz...and yet ended up top 20. I can vouch for some of my huge faves from other countries in past contests that seemed like obvious Qualifiers flopping, so it's very much a possibility these days of wrong semi with significant numbers of voters tending to veer toward pop/dance and some veering towards indie-flavoured, and some (like moi) with a crossover between the two.
Roll on the next one, got so many options to choose from...

A very strong winning track, congrats 152chris on your grand return! Pretty good top 10 there with us voting for 5 other tracks from the remaining 8!
Those semi results tho... talk about a semi not being to our taste with only voting for 2 songs in the entire top 16 Glad Skall squeezed through even it was at the expense of East Ruk which we also liked very much. Hushkanukia also proved to be one the biggest growers I can ever recall going from zilch in the Semi to 9 points in the final so glad that also just about made it thru in the end.

Aw no, that's awful Chris - always my biggest fear when cycling. Hope you are ok and it's not too bad a break.
As for hosting duties, surely the most logical solution would be to pass them to the other half of 152wild.
