Zanmatony has been denied their first Top 10 result by a single point, finishing in 11th place for a second consecutive month. ohmy.gif

However, we are delighted to announce a new record of points received in a final, beating the previous months record of 206 points!

Also, thanks to the 32 countries who gave us points in this contest, this too is a new record of voters! happy.gif

BJSC 99 Entry (September 2017)

Artist: Les Rythmes Digitales
Song: (Hey You) What’s That Sound?

Description: Les Rythmes Digitales is one of many aliases for English musician and three-time Grammy award winner Stuart Price. He has worked with many big names such as Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, The Killers, Gwen Stefani, Scissor Sisters and perhaps most notably, with Madonna on her 2005 best-selling album Confessions On A Dance Floor. Les Rythmes Digitales was initially a reference to the explosion in demand for French house in the United Kingdom during the 1990s.

(Hey You) What’s That Sound? was originally released as a single in May 1999 but made no chart impact. The song contains a sample from Skee-Lo’s 1995 single I Wish. The album the single is taken from, Darkdancer, was named in prestigious list contained in a book published in 2005 entitled 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

LOVE this! I remember downloading a few songs from this album when I had a few quid spare from an iTunes voucher and this was by far my favourite!

I don't know this one but I love the single he did with Nik Kershaw, also in 1999,'Sometimes'. That one got to no.56. Stuart Price was part of Rolloland's entry in the last contest under his Thin White Duke moniker.

Thank you Niceland for your support! wub.gif

This contest was one of my most indecisive entries to date. I knew I wanted to send this artist, but ther were so many potential tracks on the album Darkdancer That I kept changing my mind, but I’m glad I chose one that was your favourite! biggrin.gif

Ah yes I listened to Sometimes and it was a potential song to send, but I changed my mind!

I’ve heard from Bré too about your misfortunes last month, so hopefully this time I can gain justice for both of us. wink.gif

BJSC 132 Entry (February 2021)

Artist: Pleasure Generation feat. Salena Mastroianni
Song: Sacrifice

From the label that brought you Joel Corry and his top 10 hits Sorry, Lonely and the UK No. 1 single Head & Heart, comes some brand new faces to the label by the name of Pleasure Generation with their debut single Sacrifice featuring UK Singer-Songwriter and Dance Queen Salena Mastroianni. Having released on some of house music's most prestigious record labels under various monikers, the platinum selling DJ / production duo formed Pleasure Generation as an outlet for their love of 90's inspired dance records and rave culture.

Salena Mastroianni, who after years of performing as a backing vocalist for the likes of Rita Ora and Kesha, to name just two, now stands in her spotlight across a number of original house records. Mastroianni has penned lyrics for the likes of Danny Avila, Philip George, and Wh0, and her track Is it Real? with Tobtok, Oliver Nelson and Simon Field has clocked nearly 5 million global streams and counting. Her soulful voice and emotive lyrics are to get truly lost in.

I actually think I might have heard this song before, the chorus sounds familiar. Really nice song indeed, the indie and pop blocs are going to love this!

EDIT: OF COURSE! I discovered it when looking for dance songs in 2000 that went top 40 for Dan G's ultimate 00s dance playlist.

Thanks Buzzjack Mountain! It was indeed a Top 40 hit in 2000, and I’m unsure if it made Dan’s playlist at the time, but it was definitely a catchy pop song of the time! happy.gif Mint Royale of course had that belated #1 in 2008 (thanks to Britain’s Got Talent) with Singin’ In The Rain which you’re no doubt familiar with too.

Well, once again a National record has been broken, at the completion of BJSC 133, Zanmatony have finished in 9th place, beating last month’s record by a single position! ohmy.gif This is an unexpected result, and once which I have many to thank for. I wish to especially thank Rolloland for awarding my nation maximum points in both the Semi final and the Final also! Thank you too to Singerpurear and Trifoski for their maximum points in the Semi final. Also, thank you to the five nations who awarded us 15 points in the final, the most amount received in a final before, so thank you very much to Cumulonimbia, East Rukahavian, Harmonica, Tartford and Trifoski. The final score of 223 in the final was only two points more than last month, meaning another record smashed! ohmy.gif

We thank you again, and look forward to joining you for BJSC 134 in the near future! cheer.gif

BJSC 134 Entry (April 2021)

Artist: ABDA
Song: Gold

ABDA is the new stage name of singer Ahmad Abdul. He was a participant in the Indonesian Idol singing talent search which was broadcast on the RCTI television station in 2018 and he became the runner up.

The 30 year old Indonesian singerhas previously released a number of songs, namely Coming Home, Bukan Cintaku, Tell Me Something and Up to the Sky. After becoming one of the winners in the talent search arena, his name is indeed known by the wider community. However, ABDA felt they were not familiar with the work he had produced. Not wanting that image to stick, ABDA wants to show its true identity through its works.

Gold is the first single released under his new alias ABDA which blends the unmistakable sound of pop music with some well placed electric guitar riffs. ABDA describes the song on social media “About a life that asked for more, it’s hard for sure. He gave his best and all. Life is like a war. One thing he knew, he never wanted to jump and fall. Then he realized, he had to go. Searching for his own gold.”

First impression sounds very promising and I like the change of direction! Very likely Sovarasma will break the record of not giving any points to Zanmatony so fingers crossed about the rest of the semi! biggrin.gif

Well it’s been reported that Zanmatony failed to qualify for the final for the 134th BuzzJack Song Contest, finishing 26th in their Semi final. It was always a risk to send a different genre, and with a male vocalist, but it seems it was a risk that didn’t pay off on this occasion. Thanks to the six nations who gave us points in this contest, including two 12’s and one 8. We will rethink our plans for the next contest and look forward to sending our votes for the final soon.

Also, just to add to this post, as part of the results ceremony, this is an interpretation by Mosquetania of Zanmatony’s present flag;

BJSC 135 Entry (May 2021)

Artist: Bentley Rhythm Ace
Song: Bentley’s Gonna Sort You Out!

Bentley Rhythm Ace (BRA) is a band formed in Birmingham, England in the late 1990s, by former members of the band Pop Will Eat Itself, with guest appearances by Milf, a member of indie band EMF. The name likely refers to the Rhythm Ace line of analogue drum machines manufactured by Ace Tone, some of which were rebranded and distributed by Bentley Pianos in the UK.

Their self-titled debut Bentley Rhythm Ace was released in 1997 and spawned the hugely popular single Bentley's Gonna Sort You Out! which featured in a few TV adverts at the time and was also praised in multiple music magazines such as NME upon its release. This song was also used as the soundtrack on several of the 100 Greatest… shows on the UK television's Channel 4.

Original Release Date: April 15th, 1996
