In case OCC decide to dump one on us today at some point, we should get an update tomorrow from MW as normal services will resume, it will only be a top 40.

Will it be Ed again, or Eminem with Ed again, or Dua Lipa, or will Rita finally get a #1.

Breakdown of the week

Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.

- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).

We should be looking at a record number of re-entries.

Posted by: HaPetey New Year 2nd January 2018, 03:55 PM

This will certainly be an interesting week to follow! Hope a number of the newies that have missed out over the Christmas period can sneak in.

Posted by: Robbie 2nd January 2018, 05:12 PM

We have a sort of midweeks. The OCC have published the new top 20 of the Trending Chart which is, I believe, the first 20 tracks on the OCC chart not to have gone top 10 on the weekly top 100.

The Trending Chart features chart positions from the current midweeks Top 100 which makes me wonder if we will get a midweeks update today

http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/ramzs-barking-is-number-1-on-this-weeks-official-trending-chart__21352/

As you can see, there is a lot of volatility on the chart with Ramz jumpting back up the chart, up to number 10, James Arthur reversing a drop to climb to number 15, Craig David ft Bastille back up the chart and now at 17 and Dave Ft Mostack back into the top 20 at number 19.

Posted by: Dappy New Year 2nd January 2018, 05:31 PM

Those climbers:

10. Ramz - Barking
15. James Arthur - Naked
17. Craig David - I Know You
18. Dave - No Words
21. Jason Derulo - Tip Toe
22. RAYE - Decline
24. P!nk - Beautiful Trauma
26. Jax Jones - Breathe
27. Not3s - My Lover
33. J Hus - Bouff Daddy
35. Greatest Showman Cast - This Is Me
38. Portugal The Man - Feel It Still
39. G-Eazy - Him & I
40. Camila Cabello - Never Be The Same
43. Sam Smith - One Last Song
45. Steel Banglez - Bad
46. David Guetta - Dirty Sexy Money
49. Greatest Showman Cast - The Greatest Show
52. G-Eazy - No Limit
53. Hailee Steinfeld - Let Me Go

Has Feel It Still been placed on ACR at any point? Its chart run has been very erratic so it's hard to tell.

Posted by: Dappy New Year 2nd January 2018, 05:43 PM

Don't believe so, its climb this week is just due to Christmas songs leaving and increased airplay helping its sales.

Posted by: Dircadirca 2nd January 2018, 05:45 PM

Thought that might be the case. Clearly taking lessons from Post Malone & Lil Uzi Vert in the strategy of ACR dodging laugh.gif

I hope pink can get a new peak with beautiful trauma this week in the singles,

Posted by: Mart!n 2nd January 2018, 06:12 PM

I reckon NF and Post Malone must have gone up as well, I reckon they are #11 or 12, looking at last week's positions.

I don't think either would have had any strategy for the UK charts when they were so big in America anyway. laugh.gif

Yeah I know, just the first examples I could think of for songs that perpetually avoided the ACR trap. Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing stuff like that legitimately happen where promotions/remixes etc are timed specifically to exploit it.

Posted by: cqmerqn 2nd January 2018, 06:35 PM

Oh I’m sure that will happen.59p tactic will be overused too.

Posted by: mic1812 2nd January 2018, 07:26 PM

As regards the songs from The Greatest Showman how many of those 10 tracks can be eligible to chart.
Will it be 3 also like the other artists albums

More or less, yes!

This is where I miss the old days of physical singles as the New Year chart used to see lots of new entries from fan based acts along with some belting dance tunes which had been held back until after Christmas. Instead all we have now is old hits moving back up the chart. Goodness knows what the chart will be like next week as the new release schedule still looks a bit thin on the ground so sales are going to plummet over the next couple of weeks.

Posted by: sammy01 2nd January 2018, 09:38 PM

I would love This is me to make top 40 (The greatest show too) as I feel some radio exposure could make these songs explode.

Camilla Cabello certainly did according to her initial reaction on the Radio 1 chart show despite not being British.

Hoping to see a boost for Prince Albums after last night's Documentary on Channel 4 - '4Ever' all ready Top 100 but pleasing to see 'HITNRUN' Phase One and Two Albums getting biggest boost on Amazon (as the Documentary was about his last year).

Posted by: timjimlee 3rd January 2018, 10:48 AM

Not much discussion on the #1 Album this week, thought Ed Sheeran would be clear favourite but with 'The Greatest Showman' (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) top on iTunes and Amazon now I'm not so sure - if Ed does stay top this week it will be the first time an Album has stayed at the top since August (well since Ed did it last time).
'The Greatest Showman' entered at #39 overall last week but should be on course for a top 3 placing - 'La La Land' (same songwriters as 'The Greatest Showman') went 3-2-1 around the same time last year so may be a gradual rise to top again.

It depends on how big the sales increases are. Some of the songs will undoubtedly be rebounding without much of an increase at all, if any, and it's simply due to the Christmas songs vanishing. Time will tell I guess!

Ed has only got 2 more days of sales left I should imagine he do around 55k or less for the week, if JT has got a good lead by this time next week with his new track release on Friday, he could actually do it. as Ed's sales are decreasing slightly.

Posted by: mic1812 3rd January 2018, 07:27 PM

Not a big urban fan but Ramz could be a future number one depending on how good Justin Timberlake's new one is like.

Yeh or a metal band getting to no1!

Now we usually have a big new release on the 5th Jan like Justin on Friday and Ed last year, knowing they can start the year in a dominating way with radio dying to playlist new material.

There are songs being released randomly such as the brand new Vaccines single tonight although it'll not be huge chart wise.

Nice to see album sales aren't completely dreadful. P!nk with top songs top 30 on the singles chart and the album still hanging in there at #7! Such a great campaign for her so far wub.gif

I hope "Beautiful Trauma" the song will be made 59p on iTunes and added to the main spotify playlists soon to help it out. Either way I'm sure the album will be selling well a while longer given that both "Beautiful Trauma" and "What About Us" are both top 10 in the airplay chart! ohmy.gif

Hope Big Shaq can remain in the top 3 *.*

Nice to see Rak-Su rebounding into the top 10, holding up relatively well as I hoped they would. They really have big potential so I hope their label (is it Syco or is that not a thing any more? don't think Matt was signed to Syco) don't mess it up with the next single.

Also good to see Craig & Bastille top 20, 'I Know You' is really clicking with me now <3 'When The Bassline Drops' is still the peak of Craig David's post-revival output but this is coming close for me now.

I'm sure the lowering of price (on Amazon and other places) after Xmas to Ł6.99 will have helped although in fairness a lot of other recent Albums have been reduced to that level and in some cases Ł4.99 (eg The Killers). Hope Record companies take note that Albums do have potential to sell in bigger numbers if the pricing is reduced.

Posted by: pippa 4th January 2018, 03:26 PM

Elton John has done very well with this release, his best selling in a long while.

It is welcoming to see the Killers on the rise to, the album has sold better than i feared, hopefully it can at some point manage sales of 200,00 of greater. I think its safe to say sad.gif
it will be their first album not to reach platinum.

Is it guaranteed that Wham will fall out of the top 200?

The top 200 for the official chart under its current system doesn't exist anymore, so it just needs to drop out of the top 100 and that's all but confirmed seeing as it's absent in the top 100 mids from Tuesday! I'm sure it would fall out of the top 200 anyway.

All the Christmas songs fell out the top 200 last year (excluding Matt Terry) so I'm sure it would happen again.

Last week there were 28 Christmas-related songs in the Top 75, this week there are none. In fact, the only one to even remain in the Top 200 is newly anointed X Factor 2016 champion Matt Terry's coronation single When Christmas Comes Around, which slumps 20-96 (4,657 sales). The biggest fallers from the chart - and the two exits from the Top 10 - are: All I Want For Christmas Is You (No.5 last week) and Wham!'s Last Christmas (No.7 last week) both of which now reside outside the Top 200.
