Chart Commentary

After four weeks at the top, Why Don't We lose their grip on the chart in a tight battle as Hooked drops one spot to #2. The winner of the battle was Jonas Blue, who claims his very first #1 with Rise. It became his third top 10 hit five weeks ago, debuting at #4 - already his highest position to date, beating Mama's #5 peak. Climbing for the second week in a row, it jumps all the way to #1. The song features Jack & Jack, and similarly, it was already their biggest hit to date, beating #17 hit All For Love with Madison Beer, and now it becomes their first #1 too.

Jonas Blue
2016 10 Fast Car (feat. Dakota) | 1 | 10-13-32-x (3 weeks)
2016 37 Perfect Strangers (feat. JP Cooper) | 2 | 37-x (1 week)

2018 01 Rise (Jonas Blue feat. Jack & Jack) | FEAT | 4-7-6-11-8-1-... (6+ weeks)

Entering the top 10 for the first time in the same week as Rise, Cardi B's I Like It has had somewhat of a yo-yo run so far. Unlike Rise, it's actually been in the top 10 every week since it first climbed in, although it joins Rise in reaching a new peak this week, surpassing the #4 position it achieved three weeks ago. It's Cardi's best position to date as a lead artist, although she has #1 and #2-peaking features in the top 40 right now too - notably, her #1 hit Girls rebounds into the top 10 this week, back up to #7 as previous weeks' new entries dip below it (see also: Alec Benjamin's Let Me Down Slowly). #3 is a new personal best for both Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

One of the most prominent names in my chart so far this year, Lil Xan rebounds into this week's top 10 with Moonlight, the latest single from his debut album TOTAL XANARCHY. Its revival is thanks to the music video, released a week and a half ago, as well as hype for his debut London show on 14th July which I'm attending! It was his second top 10 hit nine weeks ago, arriving just one week after his debut hit Color Blind, a Diplo collaboration. It's remained on the chart since, and for the ninth consecutive week, Lil Xan has a minimum of three songs in the top 40, while his #1 album rebounds a spot to #2. For the second time this year, Charli XCX has two songs in the top 10, with both Moonlight and Girls rebounding this week. Charli also has the most songs in the top 40 of any artist this week, with double single Focus and No Angel entering at #29 and #30 respectively.

Lil Xan
2018 04 Color Blind (Diplo & Lil Xan) | FEAT | 6-4-6-14-19-23-22-22-30-36-38-... (11+ weeks)

2018 35 Betrayed | 2 | 39-35-x (2 weeks)

2018 29 Focus | 2/3 | 29-... (1+ weeks)
2018 30 No Angel | 2/3 | 30-... (1+ weeks)

Signed to The Vamps' label, British boyband New Hope Club have so far struggled to follow in their mentors' footsteps. The Vamps have more #1s than any artist in my chart, with 13 to date, and their former labelmates The Tide scored four top 10s, including one chart-topper. However, previous New Hope Club singles have stalled lower down the chart, with Fixed being their most successful at #19. That all changes this week though, as George, Blake and Reece score their first top 10 hit with Medicine, which enters straight in at #5 a week after its release.

Elsewhere, there is a new personal best for Rich the Kid as Ring Ring climbs 21-15, and the only artist to make their debut this week is Au/Ra, who enters at #19 with Panic Room. However, unlike in the UK, I am not charting the CamelPhat remix - I much prefer the original!

New Hope Club
2017 26 Perfume | 1 | 34-26-33-x-34-x (4 non-consecutive weeks)
2017 19 Fixed | 2 | 19-21-29-38-x (4 weeks)
2018 05 Medicine | 1 | 5-... (1+ weeks)

Hey there Joseph hi.gif heart.gif heart.gif

Hooray for 'Panic Room' debuting for you *.* glad you have been converted to the genius ways of CamelPhat after not being too keen on 'Cola' iirc kink.gif I'm also here for 'Focus' entering, instantly one of my favourite Charli songs already ohmy.gif the production is just marvellous and the chorus is always stuck in my head at the minute, makes sense when it's so repetitive I guess laugh.gif not heard 'No Angel' yet though!

Great stuff happy.gif

Hey Joseph!

1. Jonas Blue feat. Jack & Jack - Rise | 4-7-6-11-8-1-
7. Rita Ora feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX - Girls | 1-1-2-3-3-9-13-7-
9. Cheat Codes & Little Mix - Only You | 4-9- wub.gif Aside from this I haven't been too impressed with their recent output. They are so Americanised now they are almost unrecognisable.
14. Clean Bandit feat. Demi Lovato - Solo | 3-5-10-13-19-17-14- wub.gif This is someone else I've not enjoyed with the direction their music has went in. Actually both of them HAVE been mediocre recently. This is a brilliant song though.
15. Jax Jones & Mabel feat. Rich the Kid - Ring Ring | 21-15-
20. Demi Lovato - Sober | 10-20-
26. Taylor Swift - Delicate | 36-x-28-26- Lovely song and video!
31. Nicki Minaj feat. Ariana Grande - Bed | 8-20-31-
32. Jennifer Lopez feat. DJ Khaled & Cardi B - Dinero | 2-3-6-12-18-25-32-
35. Selena Gomez - Back to You | 2-4-6-11-14-20-29-35-
36. George Ezra - Shotgun | 21-17-9-15-26-36-
39. Troye Sivan - Bloom | 20-1-6-9-13-15-19-27-33-39-

Hey Joseph!

Yay at Rise being #1! biggrin.gif Cardi B close to the top too wub.gif

Not surprised at Ruel being here. I heard Dazed & Confused on the radio earlier and I 100% thought to myself "I bet Joseph likes this" laugh.gif His song Younger is being pushed on Spotify over here, could potentially become a small hit ą la Robinsons Nothing To Regret

Great debut for Ocean also - it's not really that special but I am liking it. I (like everyone else I think) was hoping for something with a bit more punch from Martin Garrix

Great chart!
