#11 is not bad for Ella's album considering 'Ghost' is only just taking off. Any chance it could be top 10 in the actual sales chart?

BILLBOARD 200

133 42 Robin Schulz - Prayer

This album would have sold less than 3,000 (as it's not top 100 on Top Album Sales), yet it's #42 on BB200 laugh.gif

It seems bizarre that even though album sales are slumping, Taylor is defying the odds and selling albums at a faster rate than anything she has released before ohmy.gif.

When do you think it will go diamond? I was thinking it could follow the trajectory of 21 but obviously it doesn't have as broad an appeal as 21 did to spur those sales, and sales will gradually taper off anyway, but she's only a couple singles in and if she remains ubiquitous enough throughout the year, maybe sales will remain relatively steady.

I think it can sell perhaps 6.5m ultimately. Not diamond.

It probably won't. 6-7 million most likely. The sales climate looks as though it's going to drop a little again and her sales are also starting to calm down. With singles to promote the album I think she will be able to shift another 2-3 million by the end of the era but 10 million is out of reach :/

  • 2012 - Red (4.1 million)
  • 2010 - Speak Now (4.5 million)
  • 2008 - Fearless (6.9 million)
  • 2006 - Taylor Swift (5.5 million)
I think '1989' will sell between 5-6 million.

I think that actually plays a pretty decent part. I mean why would one casual listener buy an album that can be listened to via spotify?
Of course the brilliance of the album, its singles release strategy, the radio backing and great promo from her team make up for the rest
