I’m not normally one to post anything in the sports forum, but a thread idea came to life this evening for some reason. In your lifetime, what football shirts have you owned and had printed with, either your own, or a player’s name on? I don’t own one presently, but in my lifetime I can claim to have owned 4 different club shirts. I think my first was for my local team, Bristol City, and it was not with a printed name on the back. Some years later in secondary school I bought an away shirt (white) for Manchester United, and again it wasn’t with a printed name (I think it was the 1998 season). I know before leaving secondary school I owned an England shirt too, but I can’t remember what year or if it was home or away, but I think it was an away shirt, but I know some years after leaving secondary school, late 2000’s, I got another England shirt, full home kit, and it was printed with “10 Rooney” on the back. Around the same time I bought a home shirt for Manchester United (around the 2008/09 season), I thought that had Rooney printed on it too but I could be getting mixed up, in hindsight I wish it had said Giggs on there instead. I’ve not bought any official football shirts myself since, but I was given one as a gift from my brother once, it was the home kit of Barcelona, around 2010 season, and Messi’s name was printed on the shirt! None of these shirts belong to me anymore so I don’t have images to share, but I’ll see if I can dig up old club images of the kits to compare to. What about you? What football shirts (or if you want to share rugby shirts instead) have you owned over the years? This post has been edited by awardinary: 18th February 2020, 12:40 AM |

I owned a Lee's T-Shirt around 2011 but the sponsor wore off after a few matches. I had a few other Leeds/England shirts that I had passes down from my uncle as well, i wore them a lot mainly because they were long but I don't think I own any now.

As a kid I had the first Vodafone Man United shirt which didn't have any stripes on it. I currently have the Chevrolet shirt which was worn during the 2015/16 season.

I own quite a few Chester City/Chester FC shirts (including one player-worn shirt) but haven't bought one for a couple of years now.
My favourite shirt I've ever owned has got to by my United shirt with Vidic 15 on the back because, if my first username on here (nemanjavidiclew) doesn't let you know he is my all-time favourite footballer. Others I've owned are an England shirt with Owen on the back, an AC Milan shirt with Kaka on the back (a week before he left for Madrid) and a Spanish national team goalkeeper shirt with Casillas on the back. I've wanted an Eibar shirt for a while but they're hard to get in the UK. I also own a Portsmouth shirt because it was the cheapest we could find for our 5-a-side team. |

I have had plenty of Carlisle United shirts over the years, none with names on. Can't remember how many, currently have 3...
