Madvillain's 'Madvillainy' is also an MF DOOM project (his collab with Madlib) and by far his highest entry, currently at #13 - he never had any commercially successful albums but that's definitely his most well-known project, seems to be a pretty huge cult classic in underground hip-hop. Would be quite nice if that could finally make the UK top 100 this week, though not sure how likely that is.

3. Jean-Michel Jarre - Welcome To The Other Side

3 NEW
Gerry & The Pacemakers - The Best of Gerry & The Pacemakers

They haven't made the album chart since the 60s, so it would be lovely to see them make a splash given the passing of Gerry yesterday.

Shocked they have never released more best ofs over the years!

surprised Zayn is so high, was expecting zero interest

The One Direction members will always have some sort of decent fanbase

Posted by: Bjork 15th January 2021, 08:26 AM

His second album peaked at #77 though smile.gif
it was one of the biggest flops in recent years
so seeing this sun the top 5 is surprising to say the least

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th January 2021, 08:27 AM

Low sales all around now though, and not the week before Christmas

Posted by: Bjork 15th January 2021, 09:14 AM

but still quite there surprising performance

Posted by: Rob 15th January 2021, 10:55 AM

Zayn's position probably also equates to about 20 sales.

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th January 2021, 11:51 AM

Icarus Falls debuted at #15 on the download chart so its position so far isn't at all surprising (and it takes barely any downloads to get that high as Rob said)

Posted by: Bré 15th January 2021, 01:53 PM

The exact same opening sales that he got for 'Icarus Falls' would equate to being not too far off the top 10 in last week's chart laugh.gif it'd take some serious failure for him to not significantly outpeak that just by default with a January release.

Guessing You Me At Six should be able to get the #1 album this week, Sleaford Mods could maybe get a top 5 too after how well they did with just a compilation album last year (infamously getting the midweek #1 before being entirely absent from the following week's midweeks) and I suspect Why Don't We will be quite high up due to excessive multiformatting.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th January 2021, 02:55 PM

I hope You Me At Six can get there, I just have a feeling it'll be Why Don't We with their bundles.

Posted by: Bré 15th January 2021, 03:05 PM

Actually forgot YM@6's last album charted as low as #6 (and only selling 8.8k first week) oops - not so confident that they'll get the #1 now.

Why Don't We were nowhere near #1 with their last album but Joseph reliably tells me that only had one format available so they should do better this time, a #1 probably isn't out of the question. Although would it then be another #1 album to fall out of the top 40 in its second week? kink.gif (saying that as if You Me At Six wouldn't also possibly do that lol)

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th January 2021, 03:15 PM

As long as BMTH get there next week I'll be happy x

1. Bicep - Isles

Posted by: Bré 22nd January 2021, 03:18 AM

Interested to see how Bicep's album will do. Their debut got to #20 but I think they're probably a much bigger name now - possibly a top 5 contender?

I really hope they will make it to the top this week!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 22nd January 2021, 09:33 AM

I think BMTH will be the ones to beat to the top this week, as the physicals of Post Human: Survival Horror have released

Posted by: danuary 22nd January 2021, 09:44 AM

would be great if Bicep did go top 5, as we don't often get electronic albums doing that well.
they're also #14 on Apple Music (a chart which is topped by... Baby Lullaby Academy laugh.gif)

Discovered them from the absolutely fantastic 'Odal' being in BJSC a couple of years ago but I've been really enjoying a couple of the singles from this album too.

I think Fredo's new album could be in contention for #1 as well (his previous album did 9.6k first week), although no idea really what numbers to expect from Celeste, she could very well do comfortably over 10k but with this being her debut album there's no previous numbers to compare it to. Arlo Parks' album also seems like a bit of a question mark that could potentially do pretty well. And there's a new mixtape from Chip out as well although I'd be surprised if that did better than Fredo's album.

No idea who could be #1 this week! I'd say it's between Pale Waves, slowthai, perhaps Dua Lipa and The Pretty Reckless?

Posted by: Bré 12th February 2021, 06:18 PM

The Pretty Reckless' last album only charted at #23 (following their first two both making the top 10), would be quite a comeback if they're contending for #1 this time around!

Pale Waves' debut got to #8 and slowthai's got to #9, I expect both will be contending for the top 5 at least this time but not sure about #1 - definitely rooting for slowthai to get the #1 though, all 3 of the singles I've heard so far from it have been great. I could see the #1 ending up just being The Weeknd by default on <10k sales or something though.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th February 2021, 06:20 PM

Pale Waves' debut sold 7.1k in 2018 (a bit higher than I was expecting!), I think they could push for 12k+ this time - especially if its close in the charts

Posted by: Liam.k. 12th February 2021, 06:41 PM

I could see Pale Waves opening with similar sales to last time.

Surely we can't rule out Foo Fighters remaining #1? Their second week drop was 68% for their previous album, which would mean 13k+ with this album if they dropped the same. I imagine the drop will be a bit steeper but could still top 10k which I think is all it'll take to remain #1.

Posted by: Bré 12th February 2021, 06:49 PM

Yeah it's possible Foo Fighters could still get a second week at #1 as well. (Possibly coming for the rare 'massive drop from #1 after being #1 for 2 weeks' laugh.gif)

Posted by: Bjork 12th February 2021, 07:46 PM

I was thinking Pale Waves would have a chance at #1, seem more popular now than before, and got plenty of radio support.
They're also signed to the Dirty Hit label which I'm sure it's gonna go the extra mile to get the #1

EDIT: just checked and they have 5 different cassette formats biggrin.gif Super expensive now but sure they're gonna go for 1 pound by Thursday

Posted by: Bjork 13th February 2021, 09:09 AM

Pretty Reckless still #1 on albums, with Foo Fighters at #2 and Pale Waves at #3

really surprised at Pretty Reckless still being #1... looking at their sales, debut album opened with 11K, 2nd album with 9K
and then their 3rd and most recent album opened with just 4K, so I wasn't expecting this apparent popularity...

Posted by: Lukuzz 13th February 2021, 09:39 AM

How much do you have to sell to get top 10 in the iTunes album chart?

Guess it's between Mogwai and Ghetts for #1? I reckon it'll be low sales for the top though

Posted by: Bjork 19th February 2021, 11:34 AM

the schedule is pretty dead this week and next
and then lots of releases on the 1st week of March

didn't know David Gray has a new album out! Not released physically yet though

Posted by: dan :: G 19th February 2021, 11:49 AM

I'm not sure what the selling power of Mogwai is but perhaps The Weeknd's GH could go to #1 by default this coming week?
Ghetts will probably do decently on streaming but not on the level of Slowthai, I don't see him challenging for #1.

Posted by: Bjork 19th February 2021, 11:53 AM

last Mogwai album opened with 6K:

It is 20 years next month since Glaswegian rock band Mogwai's debut album Young Team gained a toehold on the chart, debuting at No.75 on sales of 2,683 copies. Their 10th regular studio album, Every Country's Sun, is also the highest-charting, debuting at No.6 (6,331 sales) to surpass their ninth, which became their first to make the Top 10 when it debuted and peaked at No.10 (7,783 sales) in 2014. They have been in the chart since then with Atomic, the soundtrack to a BBC war documentary with instrumental soundscapes fashioned by the band, which reached No.20 (4,242 sales) last year.

Posted by: Liam.k. 19th February 2021, 03:06 PM

I think it'll be Ghetts at #1 but probably sub-10k. I can't see The Weeknd getting it, he'll probably do 5k or 6k.

Maybe Gary Barlow can get there after his performance on Saturday Night Takeaway tomorrow night. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Bjork 19th February 2021, 03:16 PM

the Ghetts album is unexpectedly good, not what I had expected, very melodic and almost r'n'b-esque
there is a nice track with Emeli Sande
should be an easy #1 but mostly cos of lack of competition

Same here, I can't see the Weeknd getting it, I can't see the #1 album above 10k at the moment.

Could Ariana return to the top?

Posted by: Jade 19th February 2021, 05:16 PM

I think she would've had a good chance if the vinyl release had lined up this week as well but sadly that's not until April laugh.gif

Hoping for a top 10 re-entry though.

Yeh album sales will be low this week - 'Fine Line'??

Posted by: Bré 19th February 2021, 05:25 PM

Ghetts' previous albums have missed the top 20 so again would be a big feat if he can suddenly get a #1 now (even considering the low sales that will be necessary!)

Posted by: Liam.k. 19th February 2021, 05:39 PM

Admittedly I don't know anything about him but there's some pretty notable collaborations on the album and it's not unusual for these sort of acts to suddenly blow out of seemingly nowhere.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th February 2021, 05:41 PM

That was his first time reaching the singles chart at all as lead artist I believe (although he had a top 40 hit as a featured artist on a Stormzy album track before that) - he's been a well respected name in the grime scene for a long time but not really made much of an impact commercially so far.

Fun fact: he was one of the featured artists on Ed Sheeran's first project that received any mainstream attention (the 'No.5 Collaborations Project' EP) so Ed's feature on his new album is coming full circle a decade later!

Posted by: LewisGT 19th February 2021, 09:26 PM

Ghetts is a legend in grime so I would be delighted but very surprised to see him get to #1.

He's a bit more of a legacy act now in the same way as Dizzee & Wiley so I can't see him managing more than what Wiley's Godfather did in 2017.

Posted by: steve201 21st February 2021, 02:09 PM

Yeh he’s a big name in grime, enjoyed Mozambique last year and the new singles good too, radio 1 supporting him a bit too so should do well on streaming, maybe top 5 overall.

Architects might take the #2 spot - their last album sold 7,435 despite its #18 peak! True it was released in November but I doubt they're stocking fillers for Christmas.

I imagine A Day to Remember and Gabrielle will comfortably be Top 10, perhaps even completing the Top 3 if they sell 6k+!

Wonder how much Kings of Leon will sell, can they beat Foo Fighters? 'WALLS' in 2016 sold just shy of 50k (including 4.3k from streams).

Posted by: Bjork 5th March 2021, 11:27 AM

yes, very interesting week in terms of how much KOL will sell, guess their fans are still there
wonder if the lack of radio support will affect their sales

agree ADTR and Gabrielle will be top 5 minimum

also curious to see how Zara Larsson does

Posted by: steve201 5th March 2021, 11:52 AM

Yeh the biggest question this week will be if KOL will break 30k!

Posted by: Bjork 5th March 2021, 01:32 PM

this is from last time KOL charted in albums:

In another week of extreme volatility at the top end of the chart, Kings Of Leon's seventh studio album WALLS stands head and shoulders above the rest, earning the familial Nashville quartet - comprising brothers Nathan, Caleb and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew - their fifth straight No.1 album on sales of 49,964 copies (including 4,267 from streams).

That's more than three times as many sales as any other album, and slightly more than the rest of the top five combined, but it is pretty sluggish by their own standards - on their debuts at No.1, Because Of The Times (2007) sold 70,451 copies, Only By The Night (2008) sold 220,879 copies, Come Around Sundown (2010) sold 183,298 copies and Mechanical Bull (2013) sold 71,765 copies.

so in summary:
Because of the Times (2007) - 70,451 copies
Only By The Night (2008) - 220,879 copies
Come Around Sundown (2010) - 183,298 copies
Mechanical Bull (2013) - 71,765 copies
Walls (2016) - 49,964 copies

Posted by: Bré 5th March 2021, 05:32 PM

Hope that KOL won't drop too much from the opening of 'WALLS' - they were still relevant enough to at least make the top 100 with the lead single (notably something Foo Fighters did not manage, at least not until after the album release) so hopefully that's a decent sign for them. 'The Bandit' and 'Echoing' have both been fantastic singles from them, possibly my favourite songs from them since the 'Only By The Night' era.

9. Carly Simon - No Secrets

Due to the repeat airing of BBC 4's Classic Albums which looked back at Carly's album. It's also #5 on Amazon.

Previous album sales:
Tom Grennan [#5, 2018] 10,856
Thunder [#8, 2019] 5,834

Tom Grennan clearly going #1 this week with 20k+. If Central Cee does similarly to Digga D sales wise he could be #2 or #3. Thunder probably heading for top 5 if they can still sell that much two years later.

Posted by: Liam.k. 12th March 2021, 01:07 PM

Yep, easy #1 for Tom Grennan this week. Might be getting a bit ahead of myself but I actually wouldn't be surprised if he came closer to 30k than 20k.

Maverick Sabre got to number 2 with his first album and then missed top 40 with his second. There are loads of artists who the public just ignored upon return

Lana's last album did 31.5k first week and Justin's did 17.7k - hoping for similar-ish numbers from Lana this time (but I keep being let down by album sales numbers recently so I'll just hope that she gets the #1 and not worry about the sales too much lol).

Was sure Ben Howard would be number one, not sure he will sell much now, maybe 12-14k Max?

Posted by: Bjork 26th March 2021, 01:28 PM

his last album sold 13K so don't expect that much more from this one, I think 10-15K at most

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 26th March 2021, 01:33 PM

Lana's last album sold 7.9k in the second week, so I expect Chemtrails will stay top 3 perhaps?

Smith/Kotzen are a new duo made of members from Iron Maiden and The Winery Dogs btw, I hadn't heard of them before today!

Fingers crossed for Ben to get the #1!

No and No vinyl's also.

Posted by: Bré 9th April 2021, 12:49 PM

Hope BROCKHAMPTON can get a top 10 this time - their last album did 3.3k first week so they'll need a bit of an increase but they did the classic boyband tactic of selling 7 different CDs with different members on the slipcase this time laugh.gif (all sold out a while ago though). Plus this album seems to be better received by the fans fwiw and is of course off the back of their first actual crossover single which blew up a while after their last album came out. Sadly no vinyl release this time (at least not yet) though. Won't hold my breath too much but I don't think it's impossible x

(Raises the question of why they chose to release in the same week as Taylor again - think they could probably have got another US #1 album with this if they chose a less competitive week especially with them going so hard on the multi formats).

Posted by: Bjork 9th April 2021, 01:14 PM

Taylor is only out as regular CD, the deluxe CD I believe is out in a few weeks, the cassette in a couple months and the vinyl at the end of the summer

The deluxe CD, according to Amazon, is a Japanese release and not a global one

Hopefully London Grammar can get the #1! Hoping to see Greta Van Fleet top 10 officially as well

Posted by: dan::G 16th April 2021, 08:36 AM

should be an easy number one for LG I think, AJT isn’t so big that his streams will be bigger than their sales.

Posted by: Bjork 16th April 2021, 08:36 AM

Im positive LG can do it, hopefully they had many preorders with the pre-album campaign being so long
although AJ Tracey sure will do well on Streams

Posted by: steve201 16th April 2021, 12:15 PM

What will London Grammar sell do yous think? The preorder campaign has been long as Bjork said I think it could be 40k!

Posted by: Liam.k. 16th April 2021, 12:18 PM

'If You Wait' sold 33,130 in 2013 and 'Truth is a Beautiful Thing' sold 43,403 in 2017. I imagine this album will be in the same ballpark too.

Royal Blood has probably got the #1 album on lock.

Posted by: Liam.k. 30th April 2021, 10:56 AM

Their debut sold 65,812 on first week in 2014 and 'How Did We Get So Dark' sold 48,447 in 2017. I trust this album will clear 30k quite easily.

'How Did We Get So Dark' sold 6,199 on vinyl, wonder if they can clear 10k this time.

Alfie doing poorly 😥

Also the fact ‘Life By Misadventure’ does have both versions top 5 would suggest its sales will be moderate, maybe 25-30k

Alfie doing poorly 😥

He's still not a particularly well-known name yet! Give him a year or so haha. It is also a "mini-album" so the fewer tracks give it a disadvantage to full albums.

Posted by: steve201 8th May 2021, 06:03 PM

Why would fewer tracks affect it?

But yeh his name isn’t know as well fanbase wise, good album though!

Pretty interested to see the midweeks on Monday for the albums! Even if my fav release of the week will be no where near the top - being Gary Numan!

Posted by: Bjork 21st May 2021, 09:32 AM

just listened to the Pink album and it's a proper mixed bag, sure there are her biggest hits live but then lots of live covers
mixed with studio versions of her last couple singles then some random speech at some awards

the song I was looking forward to the most was her cover of Time after Time cos I remembered it being great live
but she does that thing of letting the audience sing the chorus, which is the worst thing ever and
thats a reminder why I hate going to see big artists like Pink live and why live albums are a no for me

anyway curious to see how it performs in the charts
the album being #1 on iTunes I guess it shows her audience is iTunes/CDs so might be not affected by the album not being available on vinyl/cassette like I initially feared...maybe it won't be affected either by being a mixed bag of live album/greatest hits/covers/new songs

also curious to see how Twenty One Pilot do. If their last album did 30K, this should do the same. But it's not out on vinyl so that should have an impact on their sales on paper. Certainly I asked around and all my snob friends that buy vinyl only now (me included) are passing on this for now and waiting for the vinyl. This is really an interesting one to see for sure, allows me to test my theory that indie is only doing well cos of the multi formatting and the colour variants.

and then of course there's Olivia. I think she can easily do 20K on streams alone, so add to that a few fake cassette sales and she can easily grab the #1 in the UK this week biggrin.gif

Not really without a single vinyl variant being available though, for example Fontaines D.C. had strong vinyl sales with just 1 type being available (IIRC).

Gary Numan's last album in 2017 debuted at #2 with 13.4k sales, I don't think he'll be in contention for #1 this week but he could be in with a shot of making the top 3 again quite possibly - expecting he'll be behind twenty one pilots and Olivia at least, not sure what to expect from P!nk. Hope to see him doing well again anyway, I've really liked all of the singles from this album (slightly surprisingly as I haven't exactly been a big Gary Numan stan in the past although I do like his obvious classic singles, he just seems like the kind of artist who I'd have expected to be a bit past his prime by this stage).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 21st May 2021, 12:46 PM

I think Gary will end up at 4 behind pink at 3, Olivia at 2 and 21 pilots at 1.

Posted by: steve201 21st May 2021, 12:54 PM

Same here, can see them all selling enough to be above the streaming long runners in the top 10 which is 7k plus!

Not surprising to see Wolf Alice go straight to number one.

Will it be comfortable for them to get to official number one? How much did their last album sell week one?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 4th June 2021, 09:11 AM

19.3k, I reckon this one will be higher though!

Posted by: Bjork 4th June 2021, 09:21 AM

Im sure they'll do at least 25K and that will be enough to beat Olivia's streams, which is the only thing that can go in their way

Yeah I'd imagine so, I guess Muse could've pulled off a surprise with their 20th anniversary re-release but the physicals aren't out until next month.

Posted by: Bjork 18th June 2021, 04:29 PM

I kinda think they missed a chance at #1, not much competition this week

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 24th June 2021, 11:49 PM

Straight to #1 for Jack Savoretti - his last sold 32k in the last week, so should claim it officially also!

Posted by: Bré 25th June 2021, 12:06 AM

And in the time that has elapsed since that album, I have gone from having no idea who he is to having a very vague idea of who he is basil.gif

Interested to see where Tyler, The Creator will chart this time around, he did 12k first week to debut at #4 with 'IGOR' in 2019 - assuming he gets at least a similar number this time (I'm hoping it can go higher - not sure if it has a physical release but I checked and it appears 'IGOR' didn't either at least for its first week) he should at least match #4 this week if not making the top 3? Depending on how Doja Cat's album does which is a bit of an unknown currently since her last album was released before she properly blew up so this is her first 'real' test of first week units. Expecting Savoretti will be #1 and Olivia will still be in the top 3 too, I'm not sure I see any of the other new releases reaching 10k.

Savoretti should be an easy #1
his label did the job and he has vinyls, cassette, lots of signed stuff on his site, all out today

can't see Doja Cat doing that well, but still should be top 5, same as Tyler.

I think that's a pretty tall order given her last album did 5k in 2016. She could do around the same again which would be decent for her and probably enough for Top 5.

the battle for #1 in albums next week is also gonna be very interesting, think it's between Inhaler and Tom Odell...

found this old MW summary on Tom Odell:
Tom Odell hit the ground running in 2013, when his very first album, Long Way Down sold 33,764 copies to debut at No.1, in the wake of the success of his Top 10 single, Another Love. Follow-up Wrong Crowd looked like debuting at No.1 in 2016, before a late surge by Rick Astley’s 50 pushed it down to No.2 (19,979 sales). Odell’s third album, Jubilee Road, with 11 new songs penned and produced by the 27 year old from Sussex, is in a slightly lower orbit, debuting at No.5 (13,445 sales).

Tom Odell is up to number 5 but I am amazed he is not too 2 with Inhaler

Posted by: Bré 9th July 2021, 05:32 PM

Another week at #1 for Olivia most likely? Tbf not really sure what to expect from Inhaler given it's a debut album, I know they've had hype for a while so shouldn't write off them potentially being big enough physical sellers to sneak a week at the top but hard to see Tom Odell being a threat at least. His last album did 13.4k first week, he'd need a few thousand more than that this time which I don't see happening, this era seems to have been entirely overshadowed by the resurgence of 'Another Love' laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th July 2021, 06:35 PM

I can see Inhaler doing similar to The Snuts, if they do the same sort of midweek push - so a #1 for them is definitely possible! They moved their album forward a week to avoid KSI, so hopefully they will be pushing it hard.

Wonder if KSI will do much on Spotify? Prob sell 10k max and then Gary Kemp is the only other one I can see, gonna be a long summer for the album chart until the final quarter kicks in!!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 16th July 2021, 10:03 AM

KSI's debut album last year sold 27.4k in the first week - but in that week he massively reduced/pushed the album for the chart battle with The 1975.

But it has got a lot of big singles this time compared to his first, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a similar figure to that.

Posted by: timjimlee 16th July 2021, 10:04 AM

Still see enough on the Release Schedule and also Olivia Rodrigo's Album to keep number 1 Sales above 10k over the summer.

In other words and even though we are in Olympic year smile.gif I don't think we will get close to a new record low!

Posted by: Bjork 16th July 2021, 11:46 AM

there's also new Billie Eilish, which will sure have GREAT Streams for a while

I wouldn't be too sure about that given how the singles have performed. It'll definitely be #1 but I'm not sure how long it'll stick around near the top.

Looks like Kanye's album hasn't dropped then. Kanye gonna Kanye.

Dave being the highest studio album on iTunes is already a good sign for him given that rap albums typically don't really get super high pure sales. Hope he'll be coming for a comfortable second #1.

Yeh if KSI can do near 30k maybe Dave can do 40k? However I am aware he has less preorders than other artists!

Unless Jane McDonald throws a surprise.

^Olivia has released the vinyls x Sour, so that should be a contender too, I think probably the biggest chance at #1 if I had to bet

The amount of songs on Spotify’s top 200 for Lorde would indicate she will get half decent streams while I can imagine Jake will do well with the physicals, if they both get upwards of 15k I would be happy enough

Dying for CHVRCHES to be number 1. It's they're best album. Insane I really think that and they are getting also critical acclaim this time and they have vinyls.

just found this on mw about their sales:
Love Is Dead (No.7, 11,763 sales) is Chvrches’ third album, following 2013’s The Bones Of What You Believe (No.9, 12,415 sales) and 2015’s Every Open Eye (No.4, 15,844 sales).

I'd say they're certainly in with a chance though! Especially when you consider there will likely be a big push from them if they're #1 in the Monday update.

Posted by: Bré 28th August 2021, 12:58 AM

I didn't really consider CHVRCHES to be a contender for #1 at all (I actually forgot their album was even out this week until I spotted an album track on New Music Friday lol) but if they can pull in 10k+ sales again as they consistently have before then that may be enough for them to contend for the top spot this week, since Olivia's sales will probably drop back close to their previous levels now the vinyl boost is out of the way. Hopefully they should be safe to at least get a second top 5 album (if not a new peak) anyway.

Potentially interesting battle between Iron Maiden and Drake for #1 next week? laugh.gif I'd forgotten how much Iron Maiden's last album opened with (60.2k, very close to the 63.7k Drake's last studio album did (no, 'Dark Lane Demo Tapes' does not count xx)).

I am amazed Steps have stayed number one!

Posted by: Bjork 18th September 2021, 09:20 AM

Montero now #1 but Steps and Manics still selling well on iTunes

Posted by: Bré 19th September 2021, 11:12 PM

Not sure that Lil Nas X will do enough to get #1 this week without a physical release and none of the other new releases really scream #1 either. Are we going to have Drake returning for a second week at #1 by default?

(unless his streams have dipped enough to allow something like Bob Dylan or Lindsey Buckingham to sneak it with physical sales)

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th September 2021, 11:19 PM

It's a shame Don Broco's album was delayed from this week, I think they would have had a chance to sneak in to the top!

Fingers crossed James Blake can finally get a first top 5 album this time, 'Assume Form' did 6.2k first week to enter at #6, a similar number may be enough this week - don't think any of those other new releases look like ones that will be troubling the top end of the chart, apart from Sam Fender obvz.

Posted by: steve201 8th October 2021, 10:02 PM

I forgot all about the new We Are Scientists album being out this week, seems so has the rest of in radio!

Posted by: Liam.k. 14th October 2021, 11:04 PM

A surefire #1 for Coldplay this week, I imagine. Their last album opened with 80,974 in November 2019 so I suspect this one will pass Silver in its first week too, especially as this album is a lot more commercial.

The Beatles release an expanded version of their 1970 album 'Let It Be' which should be #2. This is how their expanded editions in recent years have performed:

36,559 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (#1, 2017)
22,086 The White Album (#4, 2018)
34,680 Abbey Road (#1, 2019)

Between 25k-30k for 'Let It Be' perhaps? It's not as iconic as 'Sgt. Pepper' or 'Abbey Road' but more so than The White Album.
