Dexton's Top 40 (24/04/2017) (Week 50)



The past few days have been heartbreaking to say the least. Debuting at the top is probably the song that's affected me the most since Avicii's sad death over the weekend, Friend Of Mine featuring Vargas & Lagola. I don't want to stay on this topic too long, but I will say that Avicii has always had a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favouite artists. His comeback in August was incredibly anticipated by myself (amongst many, many other fans) and the fact that we were finally given a studio version of Without You was brilliant. It hurts that such an inspirational man has left us. Rest easy.

Avicii's Friend Of Mine featuring Vargas & Lagola enters at #1 giving Avicii his second #1 single here after Without You featuring Sandro Cavazzo spent 3 weeks at the top in August, with Ariana Grande's No Tears Left To Cry entering at #2 who is actually new to the chart! This marks the third week at a row where a new single has debuted at the top! Drake, Calvin & Dua, and George Ezra each fall a fall a place to complete the Top 5. Climbing for a 5th consecutive week, Shawn Mendes' finds yet another alltime peak with In My Blood (10-6), whilst Lauv returns to the Top 10 for the first time this year with Chasing Fire up to #9! Anne-Marie is also returning to the Top 10 with her latest single 2002 at #10. Her last single, Friends with Marshmello, reached #1 - will 2002 follow suit?

Other new entries come from Kendrick Lamar, Cash Cash, MoStack, and Pink. Love featuring Zacari (#26) is Kendrick Lamar's second Top 40 here after Pray For Me peaked at #4 not long ago. Cash Cash's Finest Hour featuring Abir (#37) is Cash Cash's third Top 40 hit, whilst Pink's Whatever You Want (#40) is her 4th. MoStack enters the chart for the very first time with What I Wanna (#38) which boasts a very familar sample

The Wombats earn their second consecutive #12 peaking single with Cheetah Tongue up to - you guessed it - #12. Banx & Ranx & Ella Eyre return to the Top 20 with Answerphone featuring Yxng Bane rebounding back up to #16, and David Guetta & Sia's Flames is almost Top 20 (24--21). Sam Smith's Pray featuring Logic (33-24) and Client Liaison's World Of Our Love (38-29) join the small list of in a very chart this week. Luke Million's Hypnotised featuring Last Dinosaurs (#22) inexplicably FLOPPED in BJSC because ya'll have no taste, so there's my second DNQ in 5 contests I also flopped in every other sort of contest over the weekend, so I must've ran over a snail or something because karma is not being nice... ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I was informed this morning that I am joining HarryEzra & SGrey in the Beyonce + Destiny's Child Artist Forum as an Artist Mod! So not all bad news for once

Avicii monopolises the album chart with his debut album True at #1, his latest EP Avīci (01) at #2, and his second album Stories at #3. George Ezra (1-4) and Justin Timberlake (3-5) complete the Top 5. And the rest is history
