Josh's singles countdown thread and the rate thread got me thinking, because the poppier songs and even the slow ballads where she sings are doing much better than I would have expected. I'm thinking perhaps more people here are general pop fans who also like a bit of Nicki, instead of people who were mainly rap fans first? That's only a thought I had though, the question is open.

Mostly dance of course! (Nicki did have a few dance songs of course as well as urban and pop!) Can you add a poll please?

Added in a little poll (hope you don't mind Jupiter) as I agree with Snake that it would be pretty interesting to see the results.
I do like a fair few of her mixtape songs and proper hip-hop/urban since then but I think pop Nicki is probably the one I enjoy the most personally. She definitely sounds most at home on urban tracks though in my opinion and is definitely the sort of sound she should be making. |

No dance option in the poll (Turn Me On, Hey Mama as examples)?

Well to answer the title question, dance music. Though I think Nicki should stick to doing urban music at the moment, my favourite Nicki songs are her dance-pop ones. Exceptions being Hey Mama/Super Bass/Light My Body Up which are all crap.

Love the buildup especially, Nicki's vocal is excellent in it too and she has a lovely nice singing bit in the bridge which is quite emotive! Hey Mama was quite good, I thought, Light My Body Up wasn't great I agree. |

Indeed, I love 'Turn Me On'. Shame her other Guetta collabs haven't been good though (I'm not keen on 'Where Them Girls At' either but it's not as tragic as HM/LMBU).

Those dance ones are all awful. I prefer her urban ones but most of her pop ones are amazing too.
I prefer urban music in general though! |

Nicki's rap in 'Where Them Girls At' is iconic though! Easily the best bit of the song tbh.

For me, definitely urban #1. Dance #2, tho its hit and miss for me. Pop a VERY distant third. But that's just my music taste in general in a nutshell. Poll was a good idea to add, I agree, interesting, and a good format to it too.
Light My Body Up/Hey Mama also easily my favourite of her dance songs lol, but that's probably because they've a more urban sound to them. On a different note though this poll (and even the forum in general) has been pretty eye opening to me as why Nicki continues to make the pop and slower songs - they're actually pretty popular! I had always assumed the label was encouraging or forcing her to just for diversity. |

Pop. Some of her pop songs are some of the best pop songs in years. Her Urban tracks don't get old for me, but a lot of the time I don't LOVE them. Her dance ones vary and are mostly on a song to song basis. Even when I end up loving it, I get tired of it quite quickly.
