+++ original post +++

Christmas is coming early guys, Post Malone will drop his new album December 1st. Includes the single 'rockstar' as well as Nicki Minaj, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign and Tommy Lee features.

Excited for this, I reckon we'll get all the album tracks in the Spotify top 50 as he is so big right now, I'd say bigger than Drake.

Posted by: THEO. 21st November 2017, 10:30 PM

No way is he bigger than Drake!! Drake is a British National Treasure, most people wouldn't even recognise Post Malone if he was holding a sign saying "I am Post Malone" 😂 Also his music pales massively in comparison to Drake's (although I do now like the chorus only of "Rockstar")

Posted by: D0bz 21st November 2017, 10:54 PM

Right NOW there's no question he's bigger than Drake but he will never be as big as Drake was last year for example.

Anyhow, hoping we get some good stuff from this, he's on such good form atm.

What an album title laugh.gif

Posted by: danVember 22nd November 2017, 08:11 PM

Post has had an unbelievable amount of cultural impact this year in memes etc and Rockstar / Congratulations are bigger than any Drake song from 2017. This album will be huge.

Posted by: liamk97 22nd November 2017, 10:24 PM

Will probably have a low debut position just because of the time of year but I imagine the first week sales will still be pretty big, propped up by some huge streaming, and then jump drastically to the high area of the chart come January 2018. Post Malone is very much the 'it' guy right now among my friends and I've really come to like his music too, so I'm looking forward to this album, particularly this Nicki Minaj collab.

So Post Malone is already currently in the Australian ARIA Top 50 four times (Rockstar #2, I Fall Apart #3, Homemade Dynamite #26, Congratulations #30) with the middle two actively climbing...

Now, with no ACR or special chart rules that the OCC has... what are the bets that this album will dominate the ARIA chart ala Divide laugh.gif

On the flipside, unlike the OCC, ARIA have a different habit wherein songs have to be explicitly nominated by labels to chart, and often they just don't pay enough attention to make sure everything important gets in. Right now, Post Malone should also probably have "Candy Paint" in the top 50, and "Go Flex" and "White Iverson" in the top 100, but they've not yet been allowed to chart. Sometimes they're really slow about it, Khalid's "Location" debuted on the chart with gold sales, and went platinum when its 'official' chart run was: 43-47-45-41-51, and sometimes they just never around to it.

I've noticed that they seem to be more flexible when songs make the top 100 digital tracks chart. Ed Sheeran's entire album did so, so all of it charted, but I can't see Post Malone doing anything similar, so he might not get any new entries next week.

New Zealand's chart however might be one to watch because they're more prudent about this. Perhaps the closest thing to an English speaking country chart with 'normal' chart rules, though they themselves have issues with streaming data, "Hotline Bling" and "Fake Love" never had their streams included for some reason, and "Bad Liar" didn't either for ages, to the point that it debuted a week before "Fetish".

Posted by: Dexton 27th November 2017, 06:06 AM

Wow what a mess laugh.gif So Australia picks and chooses which songs to let chart and New Zealand inexplicably disregards steaming data for some songs... and I thought the OCC was going downhill rotf.gif Oh well heres to hoping his album does well biggrin.gif

Posted by: dancember 1st December 2017, 07:31 AM

This isn't happening today then, apparently that was just a rumour and there isn't an actual planned release date yet.

Posted by: liamk97 1st December 2017, 11:17 AM

Which will come first: Post Malone's or Eminem's album? drama.gif

Posted by: Klampus 1st December 2017, 01:07 PM

Has this Post Malone thing just completely gone over my head because there’s no way I’d even put him in the same sentence as Drake for impact currently??

I’ve still not even heard Rockstar.

he's huge everywhere! says a lot that I Fall Apart was also smashing when that's not even a single.

id say hes just as big as Drake was at his peak last year if not bigger

Well I take back the bigger than Drake comment now laugh.gif still expect this to do huge numbers on Spotify when it does eventually come.

Excited! ohmy.gif I was hoping for more features but he’s proven with Candy Paint & I Fall Apart that he can make a perfectly good song all by himself tongue.gif

Posted by: danG 22nd April 2018, 09:02 AM

I was really hoping we'd get a Drake feature but I suppose Drake's busy enough with his own album (and we may well get Post to feature on Drake's album, if they're even on good terms idk)

Posted by: ML Hammer95 22nd April 2018, 09:48 AM

I've heard rumours that the Swae Lee featuring track sounds big! Looking forward to this album.

Sounds like you want the Spotify threads to be filled with rage laugh.gif

Posted by: ML Hammer95 27th April 2018, 08:44 AM

Album out today! Sounds interesting on first listen, production varied and very melodic as to be expected. 'Better Now' is on the NMF playlist and is very catchy, and the Swae Lee song sounds potentially big.

Post your thoughts here, dependent on interest an album rate can be arranged!

Posted by: Dexton 27th April 2018, 11:06 AM

“Stay” is the fourth single.

I like the album but I don’t love it. A lot is just samey crap that blends into each other like most of Stoney although the different sounding songs here are very different and it works. Bit disappointed by all three new collabs on first listen

Not the only song I had to skip drama.gif

Posted by: BridgeCow 1st May 2018, 06:28 PM

Stay is amazing and Better Now is a f*cking bop, those are the only two new ones I've heard, why am I all over Post Malone all of a sudden omg, I need to check out this album

Posted by: danG 1st May 2018, 08:08 PM

album's brilliant, a bit too long but there's quite a few standouts; Better Now which seems like it'll be massive, then Spoil My Night, Ball For Me, Stay and Same Bitches are highlights too (typical that I like the ones with features the most but some of the solo cuts may grow over time)

Posted by: lewistgreen 1st May 2018, 09:14 PM

I genuinely do not get the hype over this man at all. He can't 'sing' if that's what you call it... but y'all seem to hear something I don't because the whole world f***ing loves this man atm.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 4th May 2018, 10:08 AM

'Better Now' is still doing very well on Spotify, it sounds like a poppier 'rockstar'. I'd be very surprised if that wasn't a single.

Posted by: Dobbo 4th May 2018, 12:01 PM

The 2 'Now' songs were the best for me on first listen.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 4th May 2018, 06:37 PM

I'm not too into Post Malone's material (except for maybe White Iverson and I Fall Apart) but I like the design of the physical CD release. The way there's no cover art or booklet and just a CD and back cover gives this a hipster feel. Kinda like the design of the CDs of Ye's Yeezus, Vince Staples' Big Fish Theory and Mura Masa's self-titled

Posted by: danG 8th May 2018, 07:49 AM

Post Malone breaks the record for most songs US top 20 simultaneously with nine tracks, beating The Beatles and J. Cole (six)! *.* He also breaks the streaming record with 431.3 million streams (288,000 SEA units) and the album goes to #1 with 461,000 overall units. Which is the highest week of the year. Not that it matters too much because Drake is coming to smash that out of the park but still really impressive.

With 18 songs top 100 he is in joint second with The Weeknd ('Starboy') for that record, behind Drake ('More Life', 24 songs).

No. 2, "Psycho," feat. Ty Dolla $ign (up from No. 5)
No. 7, "Better Now"
No. 8, "Rockstar," feat. 21 Savage (up from No. 32)
No. 11, "Paranoid"
No. 14, "Rich & Sad"
No. 15, "Spoil My Night," feat. Swae Lee
No. 16, "Ball for Me," feat. Nicki Minaj
No. 17, "Stay"
No. 20, "Same Bitches," feat. G-Eazy & YG
No. 23, "Zack and Codeine"
No. 24, "Over Now"
No. 29, "Takin’ Shots"
No. 34, "Candy Paint" (re-entry/new peak)
No. 40, "92 Explorer"
No. 46, "Otherside"
No. 47, "Blame It on Me"
No. 57, "Sugar Wraith"
No. 73, "Jonestown (Interlude)"

Posted by: Dobbo 8th May 2018, 08:33 AM

All those records are only gonna tumble from here unless the rules are changed which is highly unlikely.

Posted by: Bjork 8th May 2018, 10:58 AM

after hearing the album, pretty bizarre they went for Psycho as a lead, such a non-event of a song, Better Now would have been a much better lead

Posted by: Bré 8th May 2018, 04:47 PM

I saw a user on Twitter who's supposed to be really good at predicting the charts who was forecasting 'Psycho' to be #1 this week and him to have 3 further top 10 debuts so this is actually a little less domination than I expected tbh! Indeed though, Post will only have a few weeks to enjoy holding these records before Drake destroys them tongue.gif

I’ve done a bit of a 180 with this album now laugh.gif Pretty much all of it is growing on me the more I listen especially SMN & Better Now

Better Now is such a bop *.* I need to listen the whole album, my best friend is obsessed so I've heard most of it probably in the background laugh.gif

Posted by: Ronald McJackson 27th May 2018, 09:17 PM

Better Now is such an amazing song, I need to listen to this in full. I have so many albums to check out at the moment.

Posted by: danG 11th June 2018, 10:16 PM

'Psycho' officially becomes Post Malone's second US #1 hit this week kicking off Drake! Surprised.

Posted by: Dobbo 12th June 2018, 08:00 PM

Impressive stuff. I never really got the hype around that single, a bit too dreary even by his standards. All his other singles since & including Congratulations (well, technically I Fall Apart chronologically) have been amazing, still really loving Better Now.

Post has been involved in a plane incident, and the plane apparently had to make an emergency crash landing.

Hope he’s safe!
