How I compile my charts:

With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's started gaining some airplay.

Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80's/90's singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1.


This week's chart commentary:
* Following #4 hit 'Lovers On The Sun', David Guetta fares even better with follow-up 'Dangerous', which climbs to #3 to give the Frenchman his biggest hit on this chart since 'Titanium' and 'Turn Me On' both reached #1 in 2012.
* With 'Steal My Girl' looking like it peaked last week at #5, that's a lower peak than any of the four singles from the previous era but nevertheless does provide One Direction with their 9th Top 5 hit.
* Clean Bandit climb to #8 with 'Real Love' to give them their 4th Top 10 single out of 5 (sadly 'Extraordinary' only managed a #23 peak).
