BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Ultimate Pop Female 2014: The Results

Posted by: Ryan. 18th August 2014, 01:10 PM

Thank you to Regina for making our banner!

Welcome to the results of Ultimate Pop Female 2014! Thank you to everyone who has been nominating and voting over the past couple of weeks. It is time to start counting down the 122 artists that made it through the nominations round into the final voting round.

The last time the competition was held, in 2012, Rihanna won by an incredible 161 points over Beyoncé which gave us a Rihanna and Beyoncé top 2 for the second year running. But with a 2 year gap between now and then - will there have been enough of a change to give Beyoncé her first victory or could someone jump to the top from even further down the 2012 chart?

The aim is to get these results over the next 3 days with the majority being done today and tomorrow to leave us with the final 20 on Wednesday evening. However we may end up moving some of today's over to tomorrow due to everyone's incredible excitement for Taylor Swift's live stream (in 8 hours time!) and Celebrity Big Brother, but we'll see how we go!

Any last minute predictions? I'll post the first set of results shortly. If you would like a reminder of the 2012 results, click http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=145646 and for any previous years, check the Rate Index at the top of this forum for all the links you need!

Y'know Ryan, Umi and Liam both made reference to my "keen interest" in men and Kylie when they thanked me smoke.gif

Posted by: jsilv 18th August 2014, 01:21 PM

I think a Beyoncé or Katy Perry win is on the cards, excited for the results anyway.

Posted by: Ryan. 18th August 2014, 01:52 PM

Before we start, just a note that XX in the chart runs means that the artist was not in the final voting round in that year and artists with the same number of points have been ordered on who had the most number of voters.

111| Inna - 46 points (XX-84-92-111)
112| Ella Eyre - 46 points (XX-XX-XX-112)
113| Banks - 42 points (XX-XX-XX-113)
114| VV Brown - 41 points (66-XX-86-114)
115| Mylène Farmer - 39 points (XX-XX-XX-115)

116| Tinashe - 31 points (XX-XX-XX-116)
117| Natalia Kills - 29 points (XX-96-XX-117)
118| Tulisa - 27 points (XX-XX-XX-118)
119| Lauren Mayberry - 18 points (XX-XX-XX-119)
120| Mel B - 15 points (XX-XX-XX-120)

121| Indila - 13 points (XX-XX-XX-121)
122| Sky Ferreira - 6 points (XX-XX-XX-122)

As we take a look at the bottom of the chart, as expected a lot of them are new entries. Nothing very surprising here but Inna continues her decline as she falls in the chart for the third consecutive year most likely due to her lack of UK chart success with her recent couple of albums. VV Brown also declines for the third non-consecutive year (she didn't make the chart in 2011) while Natalia Kills makes a re-entry following her absence from the chart in 2012. A couple of French singers are also in this section with BJSC winner Indila entering the chart in 121st place and Mylène Farmer 6 places higher. Two further new entries in Banks and Ella Eyre are artists to look out for next year as they definitely have the potential to make it big on the charts, especially Ella who is receiving lots of Buzzjack support. Sorry the commentary isn't too exciting at the moment but I hope it'll improve as we move on!

Posted by: Liаm 18th August 2014, 02:00 PM

Such a shame Natalia isn't successful/more known, I'm positive she'd be very high if she was sad.gif Sky Ferreira isn't something I voted for or anything but I like her, she certainly shouldn't be last! I Blame Myself wub.gif

Posted by: jsilv 18th August 2014, 02:00 PM

Lauren Mayberry sad.gif Was hoping she might be a little higher, still not bad laugh.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence 18th August 2014, 02:53 PM

Love 3 of those who all have a selection of quite good songs with 1 standout
Ella Eyre with If I Go is fantastic
I am obsessed with both Shark In The Water and Mirrors by VV Brown and Natalia Kills
All 3 really good artists

Queen Lana for the win wub.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 18th August 2014, 04:51 PM

101| Hilary Duff - 63 points (XX-XX-XX-101)
102| Leah McFall - 62 points (XX-XX-XX-102)
103| Sara Bareilles - 60 points (XX-XX-94-103)
104| Jess Glynne - 58 points (XX-XX-XX-104)
105| Tove Lo - 52 points (XX-XX-XX-105)

106| Jhené Aiko - 52 points (XX-XX-XX-106)
107| SZA - 51 points (XX-XX-XX-107)
108| Cassie - 51 points (XX-98-XX-108)
109| Azealia Banks - 50 points (XX-XX-XX-109)
110| Jonna Lee - 49 points (XX-XX-63-110)

Once again, a lot of new entries in this section including the likes of Leah McFall who has had a lot of Buzzjack support for her recent single 'Home' and Tove Lo who has recently had success commercially after having a lot of hype on the internet blogs. Surprisingly Hilary Duff is also a new entry despite releasing her first single around a decade ago, although she has been on a break for the past few years and has only very recently returned with new singles 'Chasing the Sun' and 'All About You'. A slight decrease for Sara Bareilles this year and a larger 47 place drop for Jonna Lee.

Posted by: Liаm 18th August 2014, 04:54 PM

Hilary Duff is way too low sad.gif I guess she has only just returned from her break but So Yesterday, Come Clean, Beat Of My Heart, Fly, Little Voice, Stranger, With Love and Gypsy Woman are all amazing *.* I adore Tove Lo too but she does only have one EP so I'm not too shocked at her being low.

It feels weird commenting when I know the winner and the order of eveyrone to come laugh.gif

Azealia even flopping on Buzzjack laugh.gif

Posted by: Umi 18th August 2014, 04:57 PM

Ooh results.

It pains me to see Azealia so low when Iggy could probably go top 10 drama.gif And well overall there's quite a few injustices so far but I didn't expect any of these people to go much further laugh.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence 18th August 2014, 05:03 PM

Another 3 I love- Leah, Sara and Jess who all again shine wi 1 song in particular (home, love song and right here) wub.gif

Loving these results cheer.gif

Forgot to vote in this sad.gif hoping for a Beyonce or Rihanna win though .

Posted by: Ryan. 18th August 2014, 06:21 PM

91| Carly Rae Jepsen - 94 points (XX-XX-72-91)
92| Emma Bunton - 90 points (XX-XX-XX-92)
93| Gabrielle Aplin - 88 points (XX-XX-XX-93)
94| Sofi Marinova - 87 points (XX-XX-XX-94)
95| Rebecca Ferguson - 80 points (XX-XX-71-95)

96| FKA Twigs - 80 points (XX-XX-XX-96)
97| Mutya Buena - 79 points (XX-87-XX-97)
98| Grimes - 74 points (XX-XX-XX-98)
99| Charli XCX - 65 points (XX-XX-XX-99)
100| Kiesza - 64 points (XX-XX-XX-100)

As is expected, lots more new entries including the likes of Gabrielle Aplin who achieved a #1 single with her cover of 'The Power of Love' and Charli XCX who is becoming more and more popular thanks to the mainstream success of 'Boom Clap' as well as her features on 'I Love It' and 'Fancy'. Mutya Buena returns to the chart for the first time since 2011 but not quite reaching a new peak. Eurovision semi-finalist Sofi Marinova also makes her first appearance on the chart and is therefore currently one of the most popular Eurovision contestants on Buzzjack! Also Carly Rae Jepsen and Rebecca Ferguson both fall around 20 places from 2012 probably due to Carly currently working on her follow-up album to 'Kiss' and Rebecca's second album 'Freedom' being not quite as successful as her debut 'Heaven'.

Posted by: Umi 18th August 2014, 06:48 PM

Criminally low for Sofi drama.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence 18th August 2014, 07:34 PM

Love Carly, Gabrielle and Charli- especially call me maybe, this kiss and please don't say you love me for the former 2
Also like Kiesza and Rebecca. Good section

Posted by: Umi 18th August 2014, 07:35 PM

It does feel sad to see Carly so low given she had a strong 2012 début. She shouldn't be down in the flop sections drama.gif

Posted by: *Tim 18th August 2014, 07:37 PM

I expected Charli a bit higher, since she seems to be one of the "itgirls" of 2014

Britney FTW of course happy.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 18th August 2014, 11:37 PM

81| Dannii Minogue - 116 points (58-XX-XX-81)
82| Lena - 116 points (XX-XX-66-82)
83| Natasha Bedingfield - 114 points (21-42-77-83)
84| Solange - 114 points (XX-XX-XX-84)
85| Amelia Lily - 113 points (XX-XX-XX-85)

86| Beverley Knight - 104 points (46-45-70-86)
87| Estelle - 104 points (XX-XX-XX-87)
88| Alesha Dixon - 101 points (90-74-78-88)
89| Pixie Lott - 101 points (30-37-55-89)
90| Lykke Li - 97 points (86-76-69-90)

Only a small number of new entries in this round including Amelia Lily who would most likely have entered last year if the competition was run after releasing her first three singles between 2012 and 2013. Both Natasha Bedingfield and Pixie Lott continue their consecutive declines, both were top 30 in 2010 and are now only just inside the top 90. Dannii Minogue re-enters the chart after two years away while Lykke Li falls 21 places after 3 consecutive years of climbing the chart. Somehow Lena falls 16 places despite her UK success this year but I assume Liam has made a calculation error there. Look out for her new album in October though!

Posted by: Liаm 18th August 2014, 11:40 PM

I didn't make a calculation error, she is just that low laugh.gif

Nobody is particularly a loss there, except Solange maybe. And I quite like Alesha Dixon I guess but she's nothing amazing.

I really hope Taylor does great

Lena drama.gif I think people may have got sick of hearing her on the radio so much.

Next set of results coming shortly!

Posted by: Ryan. 19th August 2014, 02:11 PM

71| Foxes - 143 points (XX-XX-XX-71)
72| Christina Perri - 133 points (XX-XX-89-72)
73| Amy Macdonald - 127 points (XX-XX-81-73)
74| Jamelia - 126 points (XX-81-XX-74)
75| Brandy - 124 points (74-55-XX-75)

76| Sanna Nielsen - 122 points (XX-XX-XX-76)
77| Santigold - 122 points (78-82-50-77)
78| Aaliyah - 122 points (XX-57-67-78)
79| Rita Ora - 120 points (XX-XX-XX-79)
80| Cher Lloyd - 117 points (XX-XX-58-80)

Foxes makes a solid debut on the chart following her debut album release earlier this year while Christina Perri and Amy Macdonald both make climbs compared to their positions in 2012. There are also a few re-entries in this section, one of them being Jamelia who also manages to achieve a new peak position after charting inside the top 75 for the first time. Rita Ora enters the chart for the first time while Cher Lloyd has a 22 place fall possibly due to her success now in the UK not matching the highs of her debut album 'Sticks + Stones' and its singles.

Posted by: Ultraviolence 19th August 2014, 02:15 PM

I like that section

I would apply for tickets to see Foxes at the ITunes festival but I cannot put myself through the script though. I love foxes
Christina Perri is amazing (especially JOH and Human), I love superstar by Jamelia and I also like Rita and Cher

I hope Taylor and Lana finish at least top 10 wub.gif

I think I forgot to vote. drama.gif

Quite upset about the fact a few people are so low here. The two most notable for me being Azealia Banks & Hilary Duff.

Speaking of which Azealia Banks has a new song out for any fans of her here.

Posted by: Liаm 19th August 2014, 02:22 PM

Ew Jamelia.

Queen Sanna *.* Undo and I'm In Love especially are amazing. There's nobody else there who I voted for, but I do really like Aaliyah, Brandy, Christina Perri and Foxes!

Posted by: Ryan. 19th August 2014, 04:17 PM

61| Carrie Underwood - 179 points (42-54-48-61)
62| Kelly Rowland - 167 points (19-19-47-62)
63| La Roux - 162 points (70-XX-XX-63)
64| Loreen - 161 points (XX-XX-XX-64)
65| Ariana Grande - 155 points (XX-XX-XX-65)

66| Selena Gomez - 153 points (XX-59-XX-66)
67| Annie - 147 points (XX-XX-XX-67)
68| Janelle Monáe - 145 points (XX-48-XX-XX-68)
69| Hayley Williams - 144 points (25-62-XX-69)
70| Rachel Stevens - 143 points (XX-XX-64-70)

Carrie Underwood is the first artist officially in the top half of the 2014 chart and continues to consistently be in the middle of the top 100 for the fourth consecutive year. Kelly Rowland continues to fall down the chart after 2 years in the top 20 while one of this year's biggest popstars Ariana Grande enters the chart for the first time at #65. Furthermore, Hayley Williams returns to the chart after a year out but achieves her lowest chart position so far.

Posted by: ▲Tyler▲ 19th August 2014, 04:28 PM

Expected Ariana to be higher! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Liаm 19th August 2014, 04:31 PM

Queen Carrie *.* she should be way higher but I actually expected lower! I'd never have expected her to get as high as 42 in the past.

I voted for Hayley Williams, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande too, the latter too I didn't expect to be much higher but I did think Hayley would. Then again, Paramore are rock which isn't Buzzjack's choice genre I guess, I just thought she'd have more fans here.

Posted by: Iz~ 19th August 2014, 04:37 PM

I guess the quota of people voting for someone divorced from their band (especially when they don't really have a solo career beyond featuring on a couple of songs) has its limits too. Even though Hayley's amazing with or without them. At least it's an artist I like at #69. kink.gif

Janelle and Selena this low is awful though. sad.gif

28. Amelia Lily
35. Carly Rae Jepsen
37. La Roux
39. Leah McFall

Posted by: Iz~ 19th August 2014, 06:53 PM

I used to adore Kelly Rowland and the faceless dance tracks she imprinted herself on. These days I'd only listen to When Love Takes Over and occasionally her track with Tinie Tempah, Invincible out of choice. Not an artist who ages well at all.

Posted by: Ryan. 19th August 2014, 07:54 PM

51| Jessie J - 205 points (XX-26-18-51)
52| Sophie Ellis-Bextor - 205 points (36-32-51-52)
53| Jordin Sparks - 204 points (45-69-84-53)
54| Ciara - 204 points (48-47-54-54)
55| Melanie C - 203 points (55-XX-62-55)

56| Lorde - 203 points (XX-XX-XX-56)
57| Miley Cyrus - 191 points (34-68-65-57)
58| Alanis Morissette - 191 points (32-46-XX-58)
59| Little Boots - 186 points (53-61-36-59)
60| Diana Vickers - 182 points (29-36-40-60)

Quite a few very popular artists starting to be revealed now, for example Jessie J who falls out the top 50 despite being top 20 back in 2012. Ciara continues to be incredibly consistent by staying within the same 7 positions throughout all 4 years while Melanie C matches her peak position on her return to the chart. Perhaps surprisingly, Jordin Sparks climbs a massive 31 places compared to 2012 despite releasing no new album in that time and Miley Cyrus only climbs 8 places meaning Demi Lovato will win the battle of arguably the 3 main Disney stars at the moment: herself, Miley and Selena. Finally Diana Vickers falls 20 places despite releasing the incredible 'Music To Make Boys Cry' last year.

Posted by: Regina 19th August 2014, 07:56 PM

QUEEN ALANIS deserves a mention.

Posted by: Umi 19th August 2014, 07:59 PM

Well thank GOD at that drop for Jessie. Wasn't expecting it as her fans seem to be constantly multiplying for no huge reason but it's great to see.

Posted by: Liаm 19th August 2014, 08:37 PM

I was very surprised Alanis was that high, she is pretty fab though. Jagged Little Pill is ESSENTIAL.

8. Litte Boots
9. Jordin Sparks
17. Jessie J
38. Diana Vickers

Posted by: Ryan. 20th August 2014, 06:28 PM

41| Kelis - 299 points (35-24-28-41)
42| Jessie Ware - 259 points (XX-XX-XX-42)
43| Iggy Azalea - 258 points (XX-XX-XX-43)
44| Sia - 248 points (82-XX-68-44)
45| M.I.A. - 245 points (43-41-34-45)

46| Demi Lovato - 243 points (XX-XX-75-46)
47| Delta Goodrem - 241 points (52-42-45-47)
48| Ella Henderson - 239 points (XX-XX-XX-48)
49| Alicia Keys - 217 points (06-11-26-49)
50| Nicola Roberts - 207 points (XX-XX-42-50)

Possibly a shock exit or two here, possibly in the form of Iggy Azalea who makes her debut in the chart just outside of the top 40 but judging by her fantastic success so far this year, she could well make a big climb next year. Demi Lovato and Sia both make big climbs from their 2012 positions while Delta Goodrem continues to be fantastically consistent just outside the top 40. Ella Henderson makes a fantastic debut on the chart based on just one single release while Alicia Keys is on the edge of the top 50 after being top 10 back in 2010.

Now we are inside the top 40, we'll start revealing them in sets of 5 instead!

36| Anastacia - 328 points (20-49-53-36)
37| Alexandra Burke - 327 points (18-25-37-37)
38| Nelly Furtado - 319 points (14-30-25-38)
39| Emeli Sandé - 308 points (XX-XX-39-39)
40| Natalie Imbruglia - 301 points (40-35-46-40)

The fantastic Anastacia is the first artist in this section who climbs 17 places compared to her 2012 position and has recently released her sixth studio album which went top 10 in the UK! Despite only releasing her 'New Rules' EP between the 2012 chart and now, Alexandra Burke manages to stay top 40 by matching her position of #37 that she achieved in 2012. Nelly Furtado is at #38 making her the third consecutive former top 20 artist in this section, but she has fell 13 places since 2012 possibly due to a lack of new material since 2012's 'The Spirit Indestructible'. Another artist who has been quiet recently charts at #39 for the second consecutive year and that is Emeli Sandé who was one of several artists that performed at the 2012 London Olympic Games and is due to release a new album very soon. Finally at #40 we have Natalie Imbruglia who continues to be very consistent in her chart positions and is reported to be releasing her first album in more than 5 years next year and it will be an album entirely of covers.

Poor Nelly, she deserves top 20.

Alexandra grabbing that Buzzjacki relevancy.
Yass bish, go get it. Outselling your Nelly and Emeli faves!

Posted by: Umi 20th August 2014, 08:15 PM

The devotion of Alexandra's stans on here is always impressive. Not even a horrendous EP/second album/career can deter them.

I would apply for tickets to see Foxes at the ITunes festival but I cannot put myself through the script though. I love foxes

I know this is kinda old but the script put on one of the best shows I've ever seen when they opened for OneRepublic!

Great section like Anastasia and Burke's newer stuff and love Emeli (especially heaven)
Burke's first album is amazing, and I like Nelly and Natalia but they both have one massive standout track for me (maneater and torn)

Posted by: Ryan. 20th August 2014, 09:22 PM

31| Whitney Houston - 337 points (37-42-22-31)
32| Mariah Carey - 336 points (15-27-27-32)
33| Nicki Minaj - 335 points (XX-12-12-33)
34| Shania Twain - 329 points (41-49-XX-34)
35| Janet Jackson - 328 points (27-39-43-35)

The legendary Whitney Houston stays in the top 40 once again while Mariah Carey drops a few places despite the recent release of her latest album 'Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse'. Nicki Minaj surprisingly drops a quite substantial 21 places which perhaps coincides with Nicki's shift back to rap & hip-hop whereas in 2012 she was experiencing her commercial peak with the release of 'Starships'. Canadian country singer Shania Twain re-enters the chart this year and manages to secure a new peak of #34, her first year inside the top 40! Finally, Janet Jackson climbs 8 places in comparison to her 2012 position and continues to be in and around the top 40 every year.

Posted by: Liаm 20th August 2014, 09:32 PM

Stellar section, love all those!

Whitney and Janet Jackson are two of THE biggest female legends in music, Shania's Come On Over is undeniably flawless and Nicki and Mariah have soooo many good songs!

Your top 30 female artists of 2014!

Adele (XX-07-10-??)
Amy Winehouse (31-53-23-??)
Avril Lavigne (24-17-29-??)
Beyoncé (05-02-02-??)
Britney Spears (08-05-03-??)
Cheryl Cole (27-79-33-??)
Christina Aguilera (09-15-15-??)
Ellie Goulding (44-40-20-??)
Florence Welch (33-29-17-??)

Katy B (XX-87-79-??)
Katy Perry (12-04-05-??)
Kelly Clarkson (03-08-09-??)
Ke$ha (62-23-35-??)
Kylie Minogue (07-10-06-??)

Lana Del Rey (XX-XX-24-??)
Leona Lewis (09-13-19-??)

Lily Allen (22-18-16-??)

Marina & The Diamonds (63-51-11-??)

Rihanna (03-01-01-??)
Robyn (23-21-13-??)
Shakira (13-19-30-??)
Taylor Swift (38-56-38-??)

So as we can see, Katy B and Paloma Faith are going to be the biggest climbers into the top 30 this year - but how far can they go? Also there are no new entries in the top 30, but Lana Del Rey has charted the least number of times with only one previous chart appearance so could she be a surprise contender at the top of the chart?

So many questions but any predictions of what will happen in the top 30?

29| Cheryl Cole - 346 points (27-79-33-29)

Following the release of 'Crazy Stupid Love' this summer, former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole became the third British female to achieve four solo number one singles alongside Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora. Cheryl will also be returning to the X Factor judging panel this year for the first time since 2010 and her record in the competition as a mentor is fantastic following her wins with Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry and finishing as runner-up with Rebecca Ferguson. Cheryl's fourth solo studio album 'Only Human' is scheduled for release in November and will be looking to achieve her fourth top 2 album in a row.

30| Nicole Scherzinger - 337 points (XX-22-49-30)

Nicole Scherzinger released her comeback single 'Your Love', her first in more than a year since March 2013's 'Boomerang', just one week prior to Cheryl and achieved her fifth UK top 10 hit as a solo artist. 3 of those top 10 hits were also top 3 hits in the form of 'Poison', 'Don't Hold Your Breath' and 'Right There' - the first three singles from her debut solo album 'Killer Love' which hit the UK top 10 back in March 2011. Nicole is currently preparing to release the follow-up single to 'Your Love' titled 'On The Rocks' and her upcoming second studio album which is currently untitled.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st August 2014, 02:15 PM

Two amazing artists. Fight for this love, Parachute, Promise This, Your Love, Poison, Don't Hold Your Breath and Boomerang are all classics wub.gif

Anyway Taylor + Lana for top 2

Posted by: Liаm 21st August 2014, 02:19 PM

Nicole is higher than she should be imo, Killer Love was a great album with lots of killer (lololol) tracks like Wet, Killer Love, Desperate and especially Dont Hold Your Breath, but there were also some absolute horrors on there and her second era has been pretty bad so far. I love Cheryl though, CSL is probably her worst single but it's a 8/10 or so for me still!

Posted by: *Tim 21st August 2014, 02:20 PM

Nicole's You Will Be Loved & Desperate >>>>
(Altho that whole album is amazing)

Posted by: mr_aly 21st August 2014, 02:28 PM

Nicole. wub.gif I think she's someone that has the whole package as a popstar, I've loved all her singles from 'Poison' onwards but I agree the album was a bit patchy. Hopefully this one will bring the goods!

Cheryl has very few great moments here and there, but on account of Messy Little Raindrops being the worst album I've ever heard by anybody ever (and 3 Words not being much better) I'd say she is too high.

27| Avril Lavigne - 400 points (24-17-29-27)

Staying in the top 30 for the fourth consecutive year, Avril Lavigne is the first artist to break the 400 points barrier on this countdown. Avril released 'Here's To Never Growing Up' in the UK last July and surpassed expectations by going top 15 despite no airplay support whatsoever. However unfortunately the 2 follow-up singles 'Rock N Roll' and 'Let Me Go' only just managed to break the UK top 75 while her self-titled album became her first to miss the UK top 10, peaking at, #14. Avril has received much media attention for her recent music video for 'Hello Kitty' which resulted in the song going top 75 in the US - her second highest peaking single from the album there!

28| Gwen Stefani - 366 points (16-16-14-28)

Following a very successful solo career in the middle of the 2000s with her albums 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby.' and 'The Sweet Escape', Gwen Stefani recently returned to No Doubt with their 2012 album 'Push and Shove' going top 3 in the US and top 20 in the UK. It has recently been announced that Gwen will become a new coach on the upcoming seventh series of The Voice US due to start next month alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st August 2014, 02:31 PM

Gwen has 1 good song (holloback girl) and 1 bloody amazing classic (the sweet escape)

AVRIL IS ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS EVER wub.gif cheer.gif
Complicated, Sk8er Boi, My Happy Ending, Girlfriend,The Best Damn Thing and When You're Gone (her best) are all easy 11's and songs like I'm with you and what the hell are also amazing

#Justice4RockNRoll cry.gif

Posted by: Liаm 21st August 2014, 02:34 PM

Such a discrepancy in quality between those two!

Gwen is absolutely amazing, both with No Doubt and solo. Don't Speak, Just A Girl and Bathwater stand out to me from No Doubt but What You Waiting For is one of THE best pop songs ever. Early Winter, Cool and Hollaback Girl are her other highlights. I've always had a bit of an irrational hatred for Avril, the only songs by her I really like are Complicated, I'm With You, Rock N Roll, Girlfriend and When You're Gone. Otherwise I find her horrifically overrated and she seems a bit of a twat to be honest sad.gif

25| Katy B - 401 points (XX-87-79-25)

What I assume is our biggest climber this year - I could be wrong as I haven't checked! - Katy B jumps from outside the top 75 in 2012's chart to inside the top 25 this year! Early this year, Katy released 'Crying For No Reason' which went top 5 in the UK and gave Katy her first Irish top 40 hit. The single preceded her second studio album 'Little Red' which hit #1 on the UK chart. Unfortunately for Katy, none of her follow-up singles have reached the top 100 but 'Little Red' has been certified silver (according to Wikipedia!).

26| Taylor Swift - 400 points (38-56-38-26)

If this rate was done a couple of weeks later, I think Taylor Swift would be a few places higher! Taylor released the lead single from her upcoming fifth studio album '1989' a few days ago titled 'Shake It Off' and has already given Taylor her first UK iTunes #1 and has hit #1 on iTunes in over 30 countries worldwide with the pre-order for '1989' having similar incredible success. Taylor became one of the world's biggest stars over the last couple of years with the massive success of album 'Red' and singles including 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' and 'I Knew You Were Trouble'. Taylor managed a sensational 8 UK top 40 hits from 'Red', an even more incredible achievement considering she had only achieved 3 UK top 40s from her first 3 albums combined! Taylor is looking to achieve over a million first week sales in the US for the third consecutive album with '1989', time will tell if she can achieve it but its safe to say that at this point in time, Taylor is the biggest popstar in the world!

Posted by: Liаm 21st August 2014, 03:02 PM

Queen Taylor really should have been top 10 at the very least, she is one of the artists I truly stan for <3

20. Sparks Fly
21. Everything Has Changed

I think I have forgotten a couple of songs but oh well

EDIT: I MISSED ENCHANTED, THAT'S IN AT 14 NOW

Taylor has become utterly unbearable since she released Red. All she is now is just another basic pop hoe with faceless songs.

Posted by: Ryan. 21st August 2014, 03:25 PM

23| Jennifer Lopez - 417 points (51-14-21-23)

Falling a couple of places compared to 2012, Jennifer Lopez recently released her eighth studio album 'A.K.A.' which has so far struggled to match the success of her previous album 'Love?' after missing the UK top 40, however it did go top 10 in the US. So far, two singles have been released from the album: 'I Luh Ya Papi' and 'First Love', the latter of which went top 75 in the UK in June. Prior to this album, Jennifer released the Pitbull collaboration 'Live It Up' which had moderate success worldwide and she has also recently featured on the official 2014 World Cup song 'We Are One (Ole Ola) along with Pitbull and Cláudia Leitte.

24| Christina Aguilera - 411 points (09-15-15-24)

Christina Aguilera's seventh studio album 'Lotus' was released in 2012 to moderate success and mixed reviews but Christina has recently achieved major worldwide success with the song 'Say Something', a collaboration with A Great Big World. The song charted at #4 in both the US and UK while hitting #1 in Australia and Canada and #2 in New Zealand. Christina has also recently been a coach on The Voice US and is currently working on her upcoming eighth studio album!

Forgot to vote in this :'(

Top 3 should clearly be
01 Cassie
02 M.I.A.
03 Rihanna

so I'll go with Rihanna for the win now.

Surprised Miley is so low..definitely one of the best female popstars around and I thought she'd be more popular on here!

Posted by: Liаm 21st August 2014, 03:42 PM

Jennifer Lopez's latest album is one of the worst I've heard in a while... She has loads of tunes in her discography though, especially Waiting For Tonight, On The Floor, Hypnotico, Get Right, Jenny From The Block, If You Had My Love, Play and Love Don't Cost A Thing.

Christina deserved more with both Lotus and Bionic I think, although Hurt and Fighter remain by far her best wub.gif

Posted by: Umi 21st August 2014, 03:55 PM

I thought Taylor would challenge for top 10 actually, weird to see she's had so little success in these things when BuzzJack seems to love her! Can't quite fathom Avril's longevity in these things however.

21| Marina & The Diamonds - 424 points (63-51-11-21)

After her major climb in this chart from 2011 to 2012, Marina & The Diamonds drops 10 places after not releasing anything for the past 12 months or so. 'How To Be A Heartbreaker' was her most recent UK single release and it charted in the top 100 in February of last year despite no airplay support. Her most recent album 'Electra Heart' gave Marina her first UK #1 album and she is currently working on her upcoming third studio album.

22| Amy Winehouse - 421 points (31-53-23-22)

The incredibly talented Amy Winehouse is at #22 this year, Amy's highest position in this chart so far. Amy's second studio album 'Back To Black' that was released in 2006 has sold over 3.5 million copies in the UK alone and is one of the biggest-selling albums in UK history. Worldwide, the album has sold over 12 million copies and won Best Pop Vocal album at the 50th Grammy Awards.

19| Ke$ha - 430 points (62-23-35-19)

Ke$ha reaches a new peak chart position of #19 this year. Her most recent album release was 'Warrior' in December 2012 which went top 10 in the US but only #60 in the UK. However lead single 'Die Young' was a UK top 10 hit and Ke$ha secured another top 40 hit from the album last year with 'Crazy Kids' featuring will.i.am. At the beginning of this year, Ke$ha achieved her second UK #1 after featuring on the Pitbull single 'Timber' which was a massive success worldwide.

20| Kate Bush - 429 points (17-31-31-20)

Climbing back into the top 20 since the first chart back in 2010, Kate Bush is just 4 places away from reaching a new peak! Kate's most recent single release was a 2012 remix of 'Running Up That Hill' which premiered during the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. It entered the UK singles chart at #6 which was Kate's first top 10 single for nearly seven years when 'King of the Mountain' charted at #4 in 2005.

Posted by: Umi 21st August 2014, 07:09 PM

It's nice to see both of them so high. Ke$ha's second era was all around a mess but I really hope she comes back stronger with album #3.

17| Leona Lewis - 469 points (09-13-19-17)

X Factor 2006 winner Leona Lewis climbs the chart this year and stays in the top 20 for a fourth consecutive year. Last Christmas Leona released her first Christmas single 'One More Sleep' that reached #3 in the UK chart and the album 'Christmas, With Love', released only 3 weeks before Christmas Day, sold over 100,000 copies - more than her third studio album 'Glassheart' managed. With the success of 'One More Sleep' Leona broke the record for the British female solo artist with the most UK top five singles as this was Leona's eighth! This year, Leona parted ways with Syco Music and signed a new record deal with Island Records and if rumours are to be believed, her fifth studio album may even be released as soon as this year!

18| Shakira - 454 points (13-19-30-18)

This year Shakira released her first album since 2010 and her first English-language album since 2009's very successful 'She Wolf'. The album, titled 'Shakira.' was top 10 in many countries and achieved a top 15 position in the UK. The lead single 'Can't Remember To Forget You' featured Rihanna and was also a top 10 hit across much of the world, just missing out in the UK with a peak of #11. After 'Empire', Shakira then released 'Dare (La La La)' and a World Cup version of the song title 'La La La (Brazil 2014)' which was also successful in several countries, especially in mainland Europe.

Posted by: Ryan. 21st August 2014, 08:26 PM

15| Robyn - 486 points (23-21-13-15)

Robyn falls a couple of places in comparison to 2012, but spends a second consecutive year in the top 15. Most recently, Robyn has teamed up with Röyksopp on the single 'Do It Again' that has achieved some success in the UK by charting in the top 75. Robyn has achieved one UK #1 single with 'With Every Heartbeat' featuring Kleerup and two further UK top 10s: 'Show Me Love' in 1997 and 'Dancing On My Own' in 2010.

16| Lily Allen - 482 points (22-18-16-16)

In 2012 Lily Allen managed to reach a new peak position despite not having released any new music since 2009's 'It's Not Me, It's You', but with the release of her third studio album 'Sheezus' this year Lily has managed to match that peak position and stay at #16. 'Sheezus' reached #1 in the UK album chart and has so far produced six singles, three of which reached the UK top 10: 'Air Balloon', 'Hard Out Here' and the #1 smash 'Somewhere Only We Know'.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st August 2014, 08:28 PM

I love Lily Allen so so much, she has an amazing catalogue
I thought Robyn would be top 10 with the amount of love she gets on here

Posted by: Ryan. 21st August 2014, 09:06 PM

13| Paloma Faith - 518 points (75-59-57-13)

Paloma Faith climbs a massive 44 places this year as she enters the top 15 for the first time. Paloma's third studio album 'A Perfect Contradiction' was released earlier this year and peaked at #2 on the UK albums chart and has had great longevity on the charts. The album has also produced 2 top 10 singles so far: 'Can't Rely On You' and 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This'. Paloma looks like she will achieve her first UK #1 single next month as 'Changing', her collaboration with Sigma, is showing all of the signs of being one of the biggest #1s of the year so far!

14| Lana Del Rey - 492 points (XX-XX-24-14)

In only her second year on the chart, Lana Del Rey climbs into the top 15 and improves her peak by 10 positions. Lana's third studio album 'Ultraviolence' was released in June this year and went straight to the top of the UK chart and has charted in the top 5 of many countries worldwide. Lead single 'West Coast' also charted just outside the UK top 20 but inside the US top 20 at #17. Lana confirmed to Digital Spy that the title track will be her next single and the album has already sold over one million copies worldwide.

Paloma is a lot higher than I expected, but she is fab <3 Lana is amazing too, at least the first era! For me Ultraviolence was a disappointment on a par with Duffy's Endlessly sad.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st August 2014, 09:12 PM

Both of them deserve to be top 10
I have loved Paloma since 2009 and I am so glad she is getting big success at last now. New York is still my favourite by her
And I think I have said enough about Queen Lana on this forum

Anyway Kelly for 1 wub.gif

11| Florence Welch - 527 points (33-29-17-11)

For the fourth consecutive year, Florence Welch climbs the chart. This year she manages a 6 place climb to the brink of the top 10! As a solo artist, Florence reached #1 in the UK chart after featuring on Calvin Harris' single 'Sweet Nothing' back in 2012 and the song also achieved a top 10 position in the US. Earlier that year, Florence + The Machine achieved their first #1 following the release of a Calvin Harris remix of 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' which was their only top 10 single from the 'Ceremonials' era. On the other hand, both of Florence + The Machine's albums have peaked at #1 in the UK.

12| P!nk - 518 points (02-03-07-12)

P!nk falls down the chart for the fourth consecutive year but still charts at a very respectable 12th position. Her most recent album release was 'The Truth About Love' in 2012 which hit the top 5 in many countries and produced singles including 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)', 'Try', 'True Love' and the massively successful 'Just Give Me A Reason' featuring Nate Ruess - the lead singer of Fun. Amazingly, five of P!nk's 6 studio albums have charted in the top 3 in the UK with only her debut 'Can't Take Me Home' not achieving that by charting at #13.

Florence wub.gif great to see her so high, very different to other artists and you always know it's her when you hear her voice. P!nk is really good but I feel I should like her more than I do given my tastes, she wasn't in my top 40.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st August 2014, 10:22 PM

Prediction (and I am pretty much terrible at them)
1. Katy Perry
2. Britney Spears

4. Beyonce

6. Rihanna
7. Madonna
8. Kelly Clarkson
9. Ellie Goulding
10. Adele

And my what I want order
10. Madonna

8. Beyonce
7. Adele (I love her but she hasn't done anything new last year and pretty much last two years)
6. Ellie Goulding
5. Rihanna
4. Katy Perry
3. Britney Spears
2. Lady Gaga
1. Kelly Clarkson

Posted by: Umi 21st August 2014, 10:23 PM

A bit insane to see Ellie Goulding top 10 in this and I'm surprised Adele hung on too but here's my predicta:

1. Beyoncé
2. Rihanna
3. Katy Perry
4. Britney Spears
5. Lady Gaga
6. Kelly Clarkson
7. Madonna
8. Kylie
9. Ellie Goulding
10. Adele

It's nice to see some fresh blood in the top 10.

Go Kylie!

Posted by: Umi 21st August 2014, 10:28 PM

I don't quite get how Kylie is actually still top 10. I would have thought the floppiness of this era would have put off a lot of people, alongside the sonic horror that is 'I Was Gonna Cancel'.

I guess it's the video for 'I Was Gonna Cancel' which is a landmark in history now, plus her foray into lavishly produced dubstep with 'Sexercize', her slick rapping in 'Mr. President' and the tear jerkingly emotive ballad 'Beautiful' has kept her in people's hearts for another year.

I guess we shouldn't forget her role as the sex-deprived man ogler in Sexercise - The Video (Part 2).

How I Want It To Go:

01. Lady Gaga
02. Beyonce
03. Britney Spears
04. Adele
05. Ellie Goulding
06. Kylie Minogue
07. Rihanna
08. Katy Perry
09. Kelly Clarkson
10. Madonna

How I Think It Will Go

01. Katy Perry
02. Beyonce
03. Ellie Goulding
04. Lady Gaga
05. Rihanna
06. Kylie Minogue
07. Britney Spears
08. Kelly Clarkson
09. Adele
10. Madonna

In an ideal world I want Gaga to win but this past year has been rocky for her so I think Beyonce should take the crown as she's the only person equally as talented as Gaga, in my eyes anyway. The rest are boring as f*** excluding Adele, Rihanna and possibly Britney. I thought Madonna's career ended ages ago lmao is she still working?

...and why are artists like Madonna, Rihanna and Adele being nominated if they haven't released recent stuff. As much as I like Rihana/Adele I don't think it's fair to chart people who haven't made music recently higher than those who have been working really hard for the past 12 months (Paloma, Lana, Kelis) but ah well kink.gif no.gif

09| Kelly Clarkson - 633 points (03-08-09-09)

Staying at #9 for the second consecutive year is the first ever winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. Kelly's most recent album releases include a Greatest Hits album titled 'Greatest Hits - Chapter One' which produced the singles 'Catch My Breath', 'Don't Rush' featuring Vince Gill and 'People Like Us'. Even more recently Kelly released a Christmas album titled 'Wrapped In Red' which charted in the UK top 75 and was preceded by the lead single 'Underneath The Tree', a UK top 30 hit!

10| Adele - 559 points (XX-07-10-10)

Just staying inside the top 10 is Adele, another non-mover compared to the 2012 chart. Adele is one of the biggest stars in the world and her most recent album '21', released in 2011, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and is one of the biggest-selling albums of all time. The album included the massive singles 'Rolling In The Deep', 'Someone Like You' and 'Set Fire To The Rain'. In 2012 Adele released 'Skyfall', the theme song of the James Bond film of the same name and was another massive success!

Posted by: Liаm 22nd August 2014, 05:49 PM

Kelly Clarkson wub.gif My absolute fave along with Demi, Breakaway is my favourite album of all time. Irvine, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because Of You, Sober, Never Again, Don't Let Me Stop You, Cry, My Life Would Suck Without You, Already Gone and so many more are amazing 11/10 masterpieces.

I found myself a little bored of Adele by the end of the 21 era, she is brilliant though. I just hope that the next era is a success but not as overwhelming as 21, in a selfish way laugh.gif

07| Ellie Goulding - 672 points (44-40-20-07)

The only artist in this year's top 10 that wasn't in the top 10 in 2012 is Ellie Goulding who climbs 13 places to #7. Last year Ellie released 'Burn', the lead single from 'Halcyon Days' which was a re-release of her second album, and gave Ellie her first UK #1 single. 'Burn' was also Ellie's second US top 20 hit! At the beginning of this year, 'Halcyon' climbed to #1 on the UK albums chart for the first time - 65 weeks into its chart run! The album has recently passed sales of 900,000 so is well on its way to becoming a million-seller!

08| Beyoncé - 668 points (05-02-02-08)

Perhaps a surprise, 2011 and 2012's runner-up Beyoncé falls 6 places to #8 this year. Beyoncé surprised everyone by releasing her fifth album, titled 'Beyoncé', last December without any prior announcement which sold over 800,000 copies worldwide in just three days. The album was described as a visual album as Beyoncé had made music videos for every single album track. The album has so far produced two UK top 40 singles, 'XO' and 'Drunk In Love', a collaboration with Jay-Z.

Britney, Gaga, Madonna and Kylie, all above Beyoyo.

Good job Buzzjack.

And yessss for Ellie. wub.gif

Wow, how did Beyoncé fall like that?! I was under the impression that she was much more popular on here now than she was when 4 was released - she's actually credible and stuff now!

Bey is overrated as f***. Good to see her in lower partof top 10.

Posted by: Liаm 22nd August 2014, 06:17 PM

Most of Buzzjack loved the self titled album, I had to recount Beyoncé when I saw she was that low ohmy.gif She is one of my faves though, glad she is top 10. Shocked at Ellie too, but so so pleased! The whole Halcyon era was amazing, although nothing beats Lights as her best song <3

I hope Rihanna can make it three consecutive wins but I think Britney will take it.

I thought the last album for beyond was ok but nothing amazing. However if I were a boy is one of my favourite songs ever, I adore it so much wub.gif
Glad Ellie is so high, I thought burn was average for the first few months but I am completely in love with it now and pretty much her whole discography
19 and 21 are both classics
And Kelly is so amazing, especially because of you and since u been gone

Beyonce is way too low in the top 10 ! I really wish I voted now sad.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 22nd August 2014, 08:18 PM

Sorry for the break, here are the next two!

05| Lady Gaga - 747 points (01-06-04-05)

Falling a place this year is Lady Gaga, the winner of the first ever Ultimate Female competition! Lady Gaga's most recent album release was 'ARTPOP' at the end of last year and went straight to #1 in both the UK and the US. However so far, the album has failed to match the success of her previous two albums. The album produced two UK top 10 singles: 'Applause' and 'Do What U Want' featuring R. Kelly. Lady Gaga is currently preparing to release her collaborative album with Tony Bennett titled 'Cheek to Cheek', due for release next month.

06| Kylie Minogue - 717 points (07-10-06-06)

Matching her peak of #6 that was achieved in 2012 is Kylie Minogue. Kylie's most recent album release was 'Kiss Me Once' earlier this year - her first studio album since 2010's Aphrodite and it peaked at #2 in the UK. The album's lead single was 'Into The Blue' which reached the UK top 15. Also earlier this year Kylie became a coach on series three of The Voice UK and earlier this month Kylie performed at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games alongside fellow Australian popstar Jessica Mauboy.

Posted by: Umi 22nd August 2014, 08:22 PM

It's weird that people like Gags and Kylie can stay so high in these things when their BuzzFanbase appears to have evaporated. Madonna being top 4 is strange too.

Posted by: Liаm 22nd August 2014, 08:39 PM

ARTPOP was a bit lacking compared to The Fame and The Fame Monster but Lady Gaga is still one of my faves. Kylie has her high moments (the X era onwards, Impossible Princess) but also some horrors, but overall I do really like her.

Posted by: Ryan. 22nd August 2014, 09:07 PM

03| Katy Perry - 830 points (12-04-05-03)

Reaching a new peak of #3 this year is Katy Perry. After the incredibly successful 'Teenage Dream' album and it's many singles, at the end of last year Katy released 'Prism' and was very successful worldwide similarly to the lead single 'Roar'. While the follow-up singles, aside from 'Dark Horse', haven't quite matched the success of the 'Teenage Dream' singles, Katy has achieved 4 more UK top 40 singles from the album so far with latest single 'This Is How We Do' looking to make it a fifth in the coming weeks.

04| Madonna - 818 points (11-09-08-04)

Climbing to a new peak position for the fourth consecutive year is Madonna. She released 'MDNA' in March 2012 and has since gone on to sell more than 2 million copies worldwide. The lead single 'Give Me All Your Luvin' featured M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj and was largely successful worldwide despite only just peaking inside the top 40 in the UK. Follow-up singles 'Girl Gone Wild', 'Masterpiece' and 'Turn Up The Radio' were less successful but all charted in the UK top 200.

Who will be your Ultimate Female 2014? Britney Spears or Rihanna?

Posted by: Umi 22nd August 2014, 09:11 PM

Please God let it be Britney.

Omg Kath!

Yass for Katy tho! Who needs grammy's when you're top 3 on Buzzjack's Ultimate Pop Girl

Posted by: Ryan. 22nd August 2014, 10:20 PM

And here is your Ultimate Female 2014...

01| Britney Spears - 891 points (08-05-03-01)

After constantly improving every year, Britney Spears finally reaches the top spot and is your Ultimate Pop Female 2014! Since the 2012 chart, Britney released her eighth studio album towards the end of last year titled 'Britney Jean' and was preceded by lead single 'Work Bitch'. The album wasn't as successful as Britney's previous albums but still went top 5 in the US and top 40 in the UK during the busy Christmas period. 'Work Bitch' fared much better in the UK by reaching the top 10 and just missed out on a top 10 peak in the US. Follow-up single 'Perfume' failed to chart in the UK but had some success in other countries. Despite this, Britney Spears is one of the biggest popstars of all-time and fully deserves the achievement of being the Ultimate Pop Female of 2014. Well done Britney!

02| Rihanna - 859 points (03-01-01-02)

Falling from the top spot after two years at the top is Rihanna, but still stays firmly in the top 3 for the fourth year in a row. This may have been due to Rihanna not releasing an album last year which was the first year we hadn't had a new Rihanna album for quite a number of years. Her most recent album was 2012's 'Unapologetic' which produced 2 massively successful ballads in 'Diamonds' and 'Stay' featuring Mikky Ekko. The album went to #1 in both the UK and the US and has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide since it's release. Rihanna's next album is scheduled for release in the next few months so maybe next year she will be back at the top?

Thank you everyone who took part in this year's Ultimate Pop Female 2014 and congratulations once again to Britney Spears for being our winner! Over the next couple of days I will post the full results so stay tuned for those.

Omg ohmy.gif Never thought Britney would win of these and honestly not quite sure how she managed it but HURRAH.

Posted by: mr_aly 22nd August 2014, 10:30 PM

I won't begrudge old Britney a win this time, I'm still of the unpopular opinion that Britney Jean is by FAR her best album to date.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 22nd August 2014, 10:30 PM

Yay I love Britney. She has so many classics
Rihanna is normally amazing but the last two albums have disappointed me

Posted by: JosephStyles 22nd August 2014, 10:37 PM

YES Britney! I do like Rihanna but I'm in the minority that isn't really a fan of most songs she's done in the past few years. She has loads of gems from the first few albums though wub.gif Britney is consistently amazing with her singles though, she has some duds but most are fabulous biggrin.gif

Thanks for hosting this, guys!

Posted by: Liаm 22nd August 2014, 10:44 PM

Both brilliant artists, Rihanna's hugely consistent, everything since GGGB has been amazing pretty much! Her two best singles come from A Girl Like Me though funnily enough.... And whilst Britney Jean is a bit patchy, Britney is pretty much flawless too, I was shocked when I saw she was the winner but glad, she does deserve it. What an icon!

Posted by: Jade 22nd August 2014, 10:53 PM

Incredible winner in Britney, as she has some absolutely classic pop gems in her discography, and she's kept it consistent as I really enjoyed 'Britney Jean' as well. Yay!
