Wasn't expecting an album so soon! No Shame wad fantastic, probably my favourite album of hers now, so I can't wait to see what this album will have to offer.

Yeah, wasn’t expecting another album so soon; but she does talk in her book about how she’s on a lousy 5-album deal; so the quicker she gets out of it the better potentially...

The first two albums were outstanding pop records!
The recent two have been alright but not as good. |

I'm curious about the quality of this one because, as mentioned, she's spoken about being in a 5-album contract that she is extremely eager to get out of. The last time she phoned an album in, it was dire, but she also hated every second of making and promoting it. This could be very bad, but it seems unlikely that she'd put herself through that twice. No Shame was beautiful so I'm optimistic but at the same time, it felt like such a labour of love and time and so defining to her after the inital post-2009 break. I find it hard to see where she goes from there so quickly after putting that out. It would feel slightly weird to me if she went back to political commentary, but another autobiographical album would seem almost needless.
In other words, I have no idea what to expect or even what I want. |

If we ignore Sheezus, she's has a fantastic discography. No Shame was one of the most overwhelming reliefs I've ever experienced from an album. I was SO surprised that she managed to absolutely pull it out of the bag after that 3rd album.
Looking forward to seeing if she can stay on track. |

Sheezus isn't perfect but I think it's an album that's suffers more from bad management and Lily's own head space at the time than the quality of the songs necessarily.

Lily's been dropped from her label. Depending on the negotiations of her leaving, hopefully she's able to release the album the way she wants to. At least she's free of the 5 album contract that Umi mentioned she wanted to be rid of.
