A new thread ahead of tonight's episode after the last thread reached 50 pages.
A reminder of what to expect this Summer:
Schedule
Monday - 8pm
Tuesday - 7:30pm
Thursday - 7:30pm
Friday - 8pm
Omg Whitney ‘when you know, you know’ yeah hun isn’t this your 3rd engagement in 4 years?
Sonia, I do NOT need to know that you’re like a leaky tap when you get going.
Stacey and Martin are pretty horrific as people.
Not sure on Bobby yet. But I liked Ben acting like an uncle.
Sharon, keep slaying.
I am not seeing much direction as to how Stacey will be wrote out for her maternity leave unless she goes on the run with Arthur.
There's no way Sharon is just going to reveal all to Phil surely
Screaming at Sharon and Karen teaming up.
How on Earth does Kathy look so f**king young?
Am I the only one who doesn’t understand what is so bad about Kush getting legal rights to his son?
That episode was trash and made literally no sense. Sharon going all gangsta, kidnapping Keanu and smacking Karen unconscious with no logic or reason.
omg this scene just came to mind Cringiest soap moment EVER.
Tbf it wasn’t actually Bobby’s fault Max did time. Phil bribes the jury but has been completely left out of any of Max’s revenge for some reason.
Exactly Bobby had no part but I suppose it gives Bobby the storyline of paying for what happened and will likely lead to a max and ian plot aswell which could lead to Lauren returning.
Does anyone want Lauren returning though? They killed the wrong sister.
I have no interest in Max seeking vengeance against Bobby. In fact, I have no interest in Max.
I am interested in seeing Bobby coping with being back in Walford, trying to readjust to real life but being constantly reminded of his past. There's lots to explore there, much more than the half-arsed "is Bobby evil?" angel that DTC tried to push.
I agree, I think Bobby’s return has been handled well so far and much more realistic than it could have been. He’s messed up after making a mistake and his parents’ behaviour following messed him up a bit more. He’s not a monster. Leave that role for someone like Denny.
I too am uninterested in Max. He’s run his course.
No Eastenders on Thursday this week, due to England playing Norway.
I can’t be the only one that thinks Bobby injured himself here?
Yeah I thought that too. I feel like that final "please" after seemingly telling Ian and Kathy to leave him alone was more to himself.
Loved the scene with Denise coming over to the Beales in the Vic. Nice continuity.
Karen being oblivious to who Bobby is despite living on the square for two years and only living a few streets away when Lucy's murder made national news...
Thursday and Fridays episodes have both been rescheduled to accommodate the Women's World Cup QF stages on BBC One.
Thursday's episode will air tonight at 9pm and Friday's episode on Thursday at 7pm (up against Emmerdale!) It's almost like the BBC want the show to be axed :')
So is Billy calling Lola basic by saying she's like "cheese and pickle"?
Why is Tiff wandering around in school uniform when her GCSEs probably finished last week?
Why is Lola frowned upon for being angry that bratty Lexi is acting like a brat?
Good to see Ade Edmondson as 'the annoying man'. Maybe he will be Jean's new love interest.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a28212426/eastenders-danny-dyer-mick-carter-mental-health-storyline/
ffs
Ffs that’s all we need. We’ve already seen that character completely ignore his son’s mental health and he already throws his toys out the pram over every tiny inconvenience.
I think this is the wrong character to explore this with.
If they used this as a way to address Mick's attitude toward Lee and his depression then I'm here for it, but I very much doubt that'll be the case as I think the show expected us to cheer Mick on at the time.
This is pretty unnecessary. The Carters have Ollie's autism storyline and that's impactful enough. We don't need another "woe is Mick" story.
This is totally the wrong character to do this with...I can think of many characters who would do way better and explore correctly after his treatment of Lee I don't think it should be him :/
Exactly - it's not as if the character or family need a storyline! It's ALWAYS all about them, we had a nice escape while Mick was in prison, do they feel the need to make up for it?? Unless it's something quite drastic and different like schizophrenia, I'd probably be here for that but they wouldn't commit to altering a character like Mick so drastically.
Louise coming for Whitney’s position of resident 1950s housewife by suggesting her fella take extraordinary risks to provide for her without offering to get herself a job to help.
Omg that photo is one of the most iconic things ever.
Andy Murray and Serena Williams playing mixed doubles on BBC1 tonight so I'm not sure what happens to Eastenders. There is still a singles match to be finished. Maybe they will put Eastenders on BBC2.
The mixed doubles match has been now been postponed to tomorrow.
£395,000. Is that how much a basement flat in East London costs now? You won't get much natural daylight coming in.
Exit confirmed for Mel.
Gutted they wasted such a talent. I don't actually understand why she was brought back in the first place though. At least we'll get some scenes with Lisa before she goes.
She didn't last long I'm not surprised she's going. Her storylines have been awful.
That is such a shame as she has been absolutely amazing of late.
They completely wasted her in the first year back and she often felt like she was part of a different show. I’ve pretty much been dreading this since New Year.
With an actress of her calibre, she was never going to hang around for ages.
Loool unsurprising really. I’ve enjoyed her being back but there’s nothing more for her with Hunter gone and we can’t keep going over old storylines. Right decision.
It's annoying that it's slightly tainted the character as newer viewers are just going to remember her as an isolated character who was always miserable and no explanation or exploration as to why that was. If this was a new character played by a less capable actress, I'd probably feel nothing for the character either.
The exit was to be expected as we have speculated for a while.
An unexpected turn for Bobby there. I do wonder what their approach is going to be with this and I hope they’re not going down a radicalisation route.
f*** SAKE GRAY
I thought it was going to be Honey on the subject of domestic abuse, it seems to be handled well. This is the second time this subject has been covered as I remember little Mo Slater bashing Trevor with an iron
Yes,it will be interesting to see what happens with Gray and Chantelle. I wouldn't have even been able to put a name to Chantelle's husband up to this point.
Apparently Phil will be attacked yet again....
Another storyline where Phil is fighting for his life. Very original. And he'll survive yet again. Must be the Mr Indestructible of the Square
Best UK Soap again at the moment.
Been ages since EE was this good!
It’s been obvious for some time that this was what they were going to do with Gray and Chantelle. The fact that she was hesitant to take the job and the fact that until last night, we’ve never seen them in a scene on their own or in their house.
I expected Adam and honey for such a storyline but im.hapoy with it going to them also.
Honey and Adam won’t be domestic abuse, he’s just a slime ball cheat.
I've been waiting for something to "surprise" us about Chantelle and Gray's relationship for weeks. He's such a lovely gorgeous guy and they're a perfect couple, but the signs have been there for ages - it's been done so well and the reveal of the abuse was a hard scene to watch.
This has all the makings of a brilliant storyline, it's great as well to use new characters so quickly with such a big storyline. Kate Oates is really moving the soap on, I agree it's probably the best atm.
3.3m for last night’s episode is not great though. It’s improving massively as a show but the audience needs to be tempted back in too
Just caught up on the Thursday and Friday episodes. There was lots of speculation that there would be domestic abuse storyline for Gray and Chantelle so I wasn't surprised to see it confirmed in an article after the episode aired, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite so brutal and raw. I welled up as Chantelle sunk to the floor in tears and the way the scene lasted just longer than a moment really added to the discomfort of it. The build up as they were walking to the house and Chantelle was trying to talk her way out of what she knew was coming was really suspenseful and I also thought it was good that we actually saw the aftermath: once upon a time, the beating would have been the duff duff; a quick shock with no immediate follow up. If the show wants to raise awareness on domestic abuse, we need to see it all.
Jessica Plummer's soft delivery of her lines makes sense now in this context. I just wish I could believe Chantelle as a part of the Taylor family because that would make the storyline stronger. As it stands, I don't see any chemistry with any of her family members and that may get in the way of other aspects of this storyline.
Also, I forgot to mention last week, but the Pride episode was potentially my favourite of the year.
Also again - Honey in that dress! *.*
Chantelle needs further integration with the Tylers in general to really bring more power to the storyline.
Congrats to Lacey Turner and her partner Matt on the arrival of their daughter on Friday!
Congratulations to Lacey
She come across so lovely on This Morning when she discussed her long journey in terms of successfully becoming pregnant.
Also I agree that I was pleased we seen the aftermath of Chantelle’s attack. Initially I was thinking the scene where she punched her and she sank in tears to the floor was going to be the duff duff. It worked better with that not being the case.
Warm congrats to Lacey and her husband.
Loved the little mention of F1 and cricket results from yesterday
Rather hasty exit confirmed next week for Kim!!! Can't lie and say I'm particularly bothered but that really came out of nowhere, I guess she has been really underused since having her second kid (who's name I can't even remember lmao).
Not been confirmed if it's permanent yet or whether it's just time off, possibly maternity leave. I hope it's just temporary as when the character is written well, she's fantastic! Also if this did turn out to be permanent, the character deserves a better exit than that (the Vincent storyline is right there ffs!). I'd also really miss Pearl who is a star in her own right.
The Sun has revealed its just a break. Phew!
Oh joy
Thank God. I love Kim and everything but a breaks from what? She’s hardly been used recently!
There's speculation that Tameka is pregnant again. When she left in 2013, it was ages until it was revealed she was on maternity leave, apparently she had complications so it was kept on the down low. It's possible that's why we've had no confirmation this time around either.
I am relieved it is just a break as Kim is great in the show.
If it is maternity leave i wish her all the very best.
Move over Sean, Lisa and Bianca - Ritchie Scott is back! *.*
OMG Sia stealing that episode *.*
There’s not one character right now that I don’t enjoy watching.
I have no recollection of this scene, it must have been when I would miss multiple episodes, but Janine and Sharon is the friendship we are not worthy of:
I wasn’t watching then either.
One of the final straws at the time for me was Sharon introducing herself to Janine like they’d never met.
It feels like everyone is falling into place again. Shirley feels relevant for the first time in years.
I hate when the show makes out characters don't know who famous people are. Lola may be in her mid-20s but would she really never have heard of Julie Garland, Donna Summer and Dusty Springfield?
All soaps do the same when it comes to such discussions and it is annoying.
So annoying! Similarly when they have characters go "Theresa what's her face?", as if they don't know who the PM was.
"Your dishwasher makes a lot of noise". I snorted.
Love the return of Sharon and Shirley's feud.
OMG I was howling at Shirley and Sharon!
‘Your dishwasher makes a lot of noise’
‘We don’t feed dogs at the table’
Iconic.
I definitely think Tameka is off on maternity leave, there were a lot of strategically placed props in her scenes today.
I think that too.
Plus the exit itself was more of a be back soon type exit.
If she had quit I think she’d have got a much better send off than that.
Karen ‘have you dabbled, Phil?’ I was howling.
Bayley queen of Sass *.*
It was quite touching to see Kathy reflect about Donna especially having recently viewed those events on Classic Eastenders.
Return for Dotty, Dot's granddaughter, confirmed. Thankfully it's a recast.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/a28510309/eastenders-dot-branning-granddaughter-dotty-return/
Never forget one of the worst acted stunt scenes in Eastenders history:
Dotty *.*
Omg have they aged her up to 28 or something?
Interesting to see will she return as a villain?
With Dot not in the show too much anymore she will likely integrate via the Brannings, Sonia and Robbie to get established.
Howling at Stuart calling Kathy Granny Smack.
I’m literally fearful every time it looks like Chantelle will be alone with Gray, they’re playing it so well.
All I kept thinking tonight was this childhood classic:
I still reckon Phil's the dad. No way would the show let up the opportunity of a Watts-Mitchell baby.
Wait I thought the letter said he wasn't?
We don't know how Sharon got his DNA for the test - it might not be his DNA!
I get the feeling it will be Keanu’s child for as long as we have a massive Christmas fall out and Sharon giving birth on the 35th anniversary. Then once all that’s happened, it’ll be revealed there was some mistake and it’s really Phil’s.
Since when did Mel have a gun in the club?
This is likely Mels exit storyline, anyone thinking the same?
I'm guessing Phil Survives that
Of course he does, he’s Phil Mitchell.
Omg not Stacey giving Phil a much needed slappin’ dahn!
I guess we know why she’ll be off screen now.
I howled at the following exchange.
Ian: you look like you’re soliciting.
Rainie: you’d know.
I need Stuart and Rainie to be a long term pairing tbh.
I’ve genuinely done a complete u-turn on Stuart and his relationship with Rainie is refreshing to see
Yeah, I would never have believed it last year that Stuart could be saved as a character. I like that the show hasn't expected us to pretend last year never happened and have Stuart 'redeemed'. He's still very flawed and is capable of doing awful things, but he is much more rounded and nuanced. I love his relationship with Rainie.
I think we all knew that Stacey would be the one to injure Phil but I do like how it built and it's a logical way to accommodate Lacey's maternity and presumably Steve's latest break from the show. It also helps to put the Sheanu storyline on hold (or perhaps develop it further whilst he's away?).
-x-
I notice it's 15 years to the day since this classic scene:
This was a couple of months before I started watching EastEnders but I remember watching these clips via the website not that long after. Remains one of my favourite catfights! 2004 was heavily criticised at the time but there was still plenty of iconic moments.
Chrissie had a few great scenes, I really like her.
They’ve been spotted literally round the corner from me at our Nene Valley railway line. They renamed the station Walford Common briefly for some scenes that are going to be aired in September. Bobby was the only character spotted.
Chrissie remains an iconic soap bitch!! The haircut scene was so good *.*
Chrissie was such a fantastic character that I never want her to return in case they ruin her.
I'm reading SO many comments on DS in regards to how much better EE is now I may actually start getting back into it.
It's been on a roll since February I think. Even poorer moments are drowned out by the generally strong place that the show is in right now.
It has turned the corner alot and I think in another 2-3 months it will have that real oomph that was missing. The chantelle storyline I think could be great as she is playing it brilliantly so far you can feel her fear when watching.
I am enjoying how many characters are getting screen time now and the focus is not not on one family.
There was a long period where the show was totally dominated by the Carters.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/a28573413/eastenders-clair-norris-bernadette-instagram/
I nearly spit out my tea. She looks the same! These "omg this character looks SO different in real life!!!" articles always make me weep.
I'm kind of out of touch with eastenders lately (it can be hard to keep up when you work until 9pm most day) but i do still see the odd episode if I'm at my parents and my mum has it on and i still follow it on social media so i see some clips which is handy so still have a rough idea of what's going on but I'm hearing a lot of good things about it these days that I'm actially considering doing a bit of a binge and then keeping up properly again.
I'm seeing a lot of LGBTQ content (well L/G as soaps are allergic to having a bisexual character) but that's really peaked my interest more (to absolutely nobody's surprise) and I want to see what the Callum/Ben pairing is all about as well as Iqra apparently having a lesbian reveal soon?
and we can't forget our sexually liquid karen now can we :')
Karen is just at the to top of her game for a few months now and is providing some good laugh out loud moments.
GWON Dido getting that airplay!
I loved how every time Shirley knocked on a door tonight the occupants’ shit themselves.
Love how Jean can easily think on her feet when her family completely crumble.
Jean *.*
I really love her friendship with Shirley as well <3
Jean and Shirley are such different characters and i feel that is why their friendship works.
The friendships in the square need to be developed more as they open storyline further for characters.
Coming up next week:
The police continue to investigate Phil’s attack
Mick’s mental health storyline begins
Halfway and Whitney wedding drama
Sheree (Patrick’s new love interest) arrives and clashes with Denise
Iqra finds out that Bobby is studying Islam
One scene and I feel like I’m already stanning Sheree.
I wondered where I’d seen the new detective before but an article on DS explained. She has a new haircut but I usually see her acting in Welsh so to watch her speak English threw me a little!
So Bex, who is a teenage girl, who is somehow magically Oxford material, after failing all her exams not long ago, going out to party all the time, and generally looking like she's not studying/ not particularly smart, is now also magically the next Paula Radcliffe?! Are you having a larf Eastenders? So unrealistic. One: with A Levels, you work hard for two years, coursework, exams, and THEN do final exams, or you don't go to Oxford. It's not one exam takes all. Two: a fully grown man who goes to the gym to train cardio and running all the time v Bex, who is not fully grown, is a woman (and there's a reason why physical sports are divided by sex), who has literally BEEN SITTING EATING CHOCOLATE AND STUDYING AND DOING NOTHING ELSE FOR TWO MONTHS. She must have a magical cardiovascular system to beat him. Come on, EE - be realistic!
Also, Sharon suddenly knocking out Karen, drug lords, etc? SHARON? SHARON?! And then threatening everyone and challenging everyone to fights? Come ON. You don't wake up and turn into a gangsta. She would be k.oed by Karen, not the other way round.
Too unbelievable for me atm. Axe Sharon!
Sharon cannot be axed ever.
Just a few months ago, she was terrified of a gangsta woman, too, and was worried she was too weak and just Phil's wife. She can't go from that to the square's champion fighter gangsta woman! They'd be better off axing.
She punched one woman, she’s hardly gangster queen. Sharon has punched plenty of people over the years. You’ve picked a really weird thing to make out as unrealistic given everything else that’s going on with her.
Also Sharon is an EE institution. It will only be over for her when Letitia Dean decides.
She also punched out a hard as nails drug lord?! Also, the storyline at the moment with keanu is so unrealistic, but it is soap gold tbh.
Exactly. She’s in a very high profile storyline that has loads of mileage going forward. There’s no way she’d be axed now even if she wasn’t Sharon.
I actually can’t think of one character that needs axing right now.
Mick and Linda say hi.
Although saying that, Kat and Stacey's storyline is unrealistic, extremely out of character for both, and ruining the show...
can we axe adam, he can take habiba with him if he likes, as long as iqra stays x
You would think with the amount of murders and assaults in Albert Square over the years that there would now be CCTV cameras on every corner. If there were, the police would be able to solve this latest crime case very quickly.
It's a wonder anyone ever moves there at all
Habiba is one of my favourites and she’s my soap crush too
She can stay!!
She just needs a story where she can be seen as being a bit more likeable and not just some man stealer. I’m hoping we find out more about both sisters past. Like maybe they had a very strict religious like upbringing?
I hate when they write their own vows.
I did love ‘you can just use the same ones as last time’ but it was the only thing I loved about Linda in that episode.
Denise and Kim actually being comedy gold even when one of them is offscreen *.*
I kind of stan Habiba, I think she'd be a great kind of relief fun/comedy character if they wrote her properly beyond being so desperate for a man she's pining after Adam. I never thought Iqra would be the more interesting one though when they first came in
The main takeaway from tonight’s episode, can Ben’s shirts get any tighter? 👀
Sharon was hilarious talking to Karen
“Shouldn’t you be scrubbing someone’s stains”
Her mannerisms and facial expressions always make me laugh the way she delivers her lines.
So theatrical but hilarious.
Sharon is an absolute hoot of a character.
Ngl I’m looking forward to seeing her in labour. It has potential to be hilarious.
Sharon is an iconic character on the show.
Not always the best actress but gets involved in some great storylines.
Well, she gave us this:
Nice for them to remember Jay exists. Maybe he can have a proper storyline now.
Jay is always under used on the show and Jaime is a competent actor capable of bigger material to work with.
They made a mistake hyping up the Ahmed sisters as if they were the new Ronnie and Roxy. I do think they both have potential and they seem more settled now rather than being aware of the camera and looking like they were acting.
I do stan Habiba's hair though.
Hopefully they can improve as they are a complete miss for me.
Omg Pam is returning briefly!
This character who just needs to come back and stay.
I saw that and thought it was the actor name you mentioned so I thought "omg Pat is back?! ).
But that return is greatly welcome, even as a guest appearance.
The return is good news.
A character that never should have been axed.
Keanu working hard on that bod *.*
Shame he can't work on those acting muscles.
Lorraine Stanley really works as an actress for me and i find her delivery of scenes believable whether its the serious or more intense scenes.
Danny Walters gets alot of hate and while not be the strongest actor he is passable.
Can we have DCI Marsden back please?
I just can’t with a Mick health storyline. He is impossible to feel sorry for, always doing favours he doesn’t need to do and then moaning about it.
Sharon needs to buy herself a shredder, it would make life so much easier.
A shredder or a fire would save sharon alot of grief!
I love that for once they had someone tear up the incriminating evidence, but then she didn’t even check to see if she’d done it properly!
Mick and Linda are written as such pathetic characters.
On the other hand, I was enjoying some of the new friendships like Whitney/Chantelle and Bobby/Iqra.
I saw that RIDICULOUS Sharon thing of her k.oing Karen. AS IF. And her k.oing a hard drug dealer man?! FOOK THAT!! What a load of ol SHET! EE pushes believability more than Star Trek! They always do this with the producers' faves
Because it BREAKS BELIEVABILITY SO MUCH!! SO MUCH!!! that I can't believe ANY of it!
She might as well just k.o impossible to k.o Phill while she's at it.
Y’all need to see this Twitter thread, you’re welcome
^ I love that account! :')
Also, as iconic as "bubbly's in the fridge" is, Vanessa's best moment for me slapping Tanya into the next millennium. Some say you can still hear that slap echoing in some parts of London:
Even though you were supposed to be rooting for Max and Tanya, everyone was clearly team Vanessa because Zoe Lucker just brought it.
Didn’t Max marry Kirsty like the day after all that?
Sooo obvious the producers fancy Max and think he'd be irresistible to women!!!
Vanessa was Brill in those scenes, i really wish zoe stayed with the show for much longer.
Stanning Iqra so much right now.
Love Stuart and Rainie.
Bored to tears any time Mick and Linda are on screen.
Agreed. They are abysmal.
Irqa and Shabiba are no Ronnie and Roxie. They should neever have been axed! The Mitchells came into a gangster family ... plus Sharon. Irqa came into ... Masood's boring one and he left anyway They'd have worked much better with the full family around.
Also why is Keanu so SHIT?? Worst actor on the show, and tht is one looow low bar!
Bobby’s utter distain for Ian is giving me life.
Interesting to see what the Bobby storyline is building too.
It really is. The punch looked horrendous too. Karen is the Square hardwoman. No one would expect Jay or Martin to knock oot Phil. It'd be unbelievable - the same with Sharon and hard Karen.
Why does Eastenders always exaggerate the intelligence of its characters?? They're always out clubbin and fighring etx and they always get As and Bs? No one ever resits anythin either. Bex fsiled EVERYTHING up until final exams. The best she could get would be Cs and Bs. What an utter joke! A Levels are across 2 years!
I mean retakes are a thing so anything she did fail she probably took again but I’m not sure EE or the public care enough about the minor details of how a character achieved their A Level results
People getting results should give Eastenders a miss that week as it'd make them feel bad to see these thick characters overachiening somehow.
In the contrary, other than when she went missing for a couple of days, all Bex has done this year is study and jog so I think it’s pretty realistic she got those grades. She hasn’t failed much to my knowledge. From what I can remember, her music GCSE grade was disappointing but she hasn’t even been studying music so that’s irrelevant now. She’s has a few nights out here and there but what 18 year old doesn’t? I got really good A Level results and I was certainly no monk in my final year of school. And we’ve seen her studying way more than we’ve seen her partying.
Bex getting those grades isn’t as unrealistic as people are making out. It is unrealistic that Oxford would have offered her a place to begin with but those grades were definitely achievable for her. If Louise gets straight A*s next year, THAT would be unrealistic.
Mick and Linda really are jerks. That can’t be overstated.
“The biggest mistake I ever made was giving up my trumpet” (Sonia ‘The Icon’ Fowler, 2019)
Linda is the stronger of Mick and Linda.
Similar to Kat and Alfie, Kat is better with Alfie, Linda would be better without Mick.
Kat is so so sooo much better than Alfie!
Mick is an absolute dick. I can understand him not wanting anything to do with Stuart but hiding his illness is so pathetic and yet another storyline where he makes everything worse for himself.
Bobby’s return is being handled so well. I year ago I’d have put money on psycho Bobby returning and terrorising the square.
Sonia was life giving in that episode.
OMG Lucy is back as a ghost
So far they have handled it well and it is slow paced which usually works much better for any storyline.
Sharon bursting the balloons *.*
Mel’s mood swings were life, I’m really gonna miss her.
Mel has really felt like a spare part though since Hunter left which is a shame really because she’s not had any other storyline
I hope mel and lisa have screen time together.
About watch 5 episodes in a row what I missed when I was away!
It’s so weird what you miss when you’re on holiday in such a lovely place
Was that a photo of... Charlie Jones' Ben?!
Steve McFadden just gave his best performance in years.
100% agreed!! Superb scenes between Phil and Ben.
Superb delivery tonight, Steve McFaddens strongest for some time.
The kid who plays Ollie reminds me of the mute that used to be Amy.
This is definitely the best UK soap right now.
Just seen all last weeks episodes as well as the two from this week.
Such strong acting in general.
There’s no real weak links in the cast at the moment.
Kate Oates is working wonders right now. Every soap she’s done so far has at the time she’s been in charge been my favourite. I love her way of producing and she really allows people to shine and gets the best out of characters who were perhaps a bit stale this time last year.
I haven't watched for two weeks to avoid the unrealistic results storylines. Any episodes I need to watch?
The Phil and Ben scenes are more than worth tuning into Algernon Monqueef.
Most of the episodes these days are worth tuning in for.
Shirley's scene reminded me of a parody of this:
A new family arriving this Autumn: a trio of brothers, Kheerat, Jags and Vinny Panesar.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/a28775089/eastenders-new-family-panesars/
Omg slay me finally a Sikh family after all these years *.* I also demand an iconic gurdwara gossip queen matriarch once they've settled in.
I hope the new family can be successful and the writers have the characters planned out.
Bianca and Lisa are back the first week of September! Spoilers for that week have me hyped!
I like both Bianca and Lisa but I am more excited for Lisa as i think the storyline potential is much bigger.
So I guess all of Mel’s family from the 90s all died in the past 20 years if Hunter is her only relative. She just can’t catch a break.
Mick is so awful, I know I keep saying it. But seriously, why would you hide panic attacks? Answer why would you change a flickering lightbulb before switching it off?
Did Bailey really just say "how did we afforded it?"?
What's with the incidental music recently? Sometimes it works but it's felt very Hollyoaks this week.
I love Honey but I also love Mel’s absolute contempt for Honey whenever they share a scene.
Brilliant performance from Tamzin tonight. Mel's return has been a waste but Tamzin has always put in her all into the role, particularly her relationship with Hunter which shone in those final scenes. I'll miss her when she goes.
I love how Rainie is still in pain from being kicked twice in the back about 5 weeks ago, yet Phil has is up and about absolutely fine following his attack couple of weeks back!
First teaser for the first week of September:
Tamzin is amazing and Mel is brilliant when she’s used. I knew they’d written her into a corner at New Year and the whole of her 2018 was a complete waste as she was mostly isolated from the rest of the cast. She does mix well when they let her, such a shame there’s not long left.
Hyped for her scenes with Lisa tho *.*
Just caught up,I never expected the wonderful 'Little Bear' by Guillemots to be played on Eastenders (on Thursday's episode while Bailey was looking through her telescope on the roof of the Queen Vic).
Kate Oates has come forward to say that she took it on herself to completely change Halfway’s storyline. She referred to him as a ‘blank canvas’ with not much known about him and he was originally going to have a pregnancy storyline with Whitney so glad that didn’t surface
I’m glad that they’re now dedicating time to underused characters and giving some depth to them. I never would have found myself liking Stuart or Mitch a year ago.
Yeah this show's in a better state than it has been for a LONG time thanks to Kate Oates. It doesn't feel like anybody is a spare part right now and the Halfway and Bobby storylines in particular are among the most impactful and interesting storylines in recent years undoubtedly!
I read what Kate said and agree with her 100%. If they were going down a baby route, they may as well have not axed Lee.
She’s seen what she has to play with and what didn’t make sense and found a way. Whitney and Callum were boring and could have easily been axed. This is a much better story for Callum and hopefully the last time Whitney tries to get down the aisle.
The storyline has made Callum interesting, prior to this storyline he could have easily left without anyone noticing.
The storyline has made Callum, but Whitney has become less interesting as his relationship with Ben is far more intriguing to watch.
Whitney hasn’t been interesting for about 6 years but at least she isn’t a prize c**t anymore like she was a couple of years ago. I really rate Shona as an actress so I hope Kate has a plan for her too.
Whitney to me has been wasted for a long time.
I’ve said this before somewhere but I think she’s Eastenders equivalent to Maria CS.
Her only stories revolved around her love life time and time again.
I’d like to see Whitney become a success and get driven into being a business woman after this story concludes.
But I wouldn’t miss her that much if she were to leave. I think she could be great in the west end.
Whitney is arguably one of the most dispensable characters in soap right now, as said every storyline is the same and it just ends up being her desperate to be a Stepford wife and it ending badly. She had two incredible storylines with her abuse and pimping but since the latter she's not really done anything and the character has definitely run her course, even with a family link back in Tiffany.
It has been said that Bianca's return stint starts a year-long story though so hopefully that's something for Whitney to do!
HYPE. I legit hope Ben throws a massive spanner in the works and doesn’t just sit back and let them get married
Whitney has better vow never to marry again after this because I’m I cannot sit through her organising ANOTHER wedding.
I didn't understand why everyone was panicking before the fish tank burst so I rewatched the scene - I see there was a leak spraying out, although said leak was still spraying even after the tank burst! It also seemed like a lot of water compared to the size of the tank. Stunt of the year, I think not.
Also seeing comments on the year long Bianca story...
How’re we gonna get a year long story about her if she’s only in a handful of episodes.
I’m intrigued. I’m also surprised how they still ask her back considering she slags off the show everytime she leaves.
That fish tank scene too.
More reaction to the fish tank than what there was the fire at the factory in ED and the collapse in CS all that fuss over a puddle of water.
Mel just randomly managing to pick out some random medication as if she’s some qualified practitioner as well.
Sonia’s Gareth Gates line too lol she’s winning at these one liners lately.
I guess it’s obvious but the letters Callum’s kept were from the funeral he attended last week or the week before so Ben isn’t his first Male lover?
I think it's best not to look into the "year long storyline" regarding Bianca. It'll probably be a case of Bianca finding out about Tiffany's grooming and rape and encouraging her to seek justice.
I know it’s all ridiculous but I’m stanning everything Mel does atm.
It wasn’t until Sonia was banging on about remembering people that I remembered Jamie once existed. There are so many characters connected to him still in it, and he rarely gets a mention.
They may be getting somewhere with Mick too. He managed a whole medical appointment without yelling at the professional for not fixing the issue right away.
I'm so hyped for Mel & Lisa being back on screen together *.*
I was screaming at Mel elbowing the fish tank 83 times with nobody realising
Next week a character is going to die as part of Hunter’s revenge plot
Loool watch Whitney blame this whole thing on Ben. Looks like this next week is going to be a great set of episodes
ash is adorable
she melted my heart in exactly 0.3694 seconds
Living for Linda tonight, it's such a shame a great character is dragged down by Mick :/
Ha, I thought that was Andrew Cotton as the sumo wrestler!
Sonia the saviour, saving Rainie from chocking on a plastic penis. :')
Whenever anyone refers to Jack being a policeman I always think of his character in The Bill and pretend they're the same person.
Keanu surely has to be safe? I’d be very surprised if he didn’t make it to the Sheanu reveal.
Linda making fun of whitney and then whitney being behind her was everything
I still don’t think Whitney (or Mick) ever suffered enough from their actions back then. I seem to remember everyone telling Linda she was being unfair.
They had their three-hander episode post-reveal and then it was all forgotten about until last night
God forbid Mick would have to be held accountable and look bad at any point
But it’s also the way they treated Lee. He did wrong but they’ve never reflected on their own actions. Mick has found a dozen more situations where he can play victim and Whitney has rinsed and repeated her strategy with Lee with the next two people to lodge in his bedroom.
The Lee depression storyloine was handled appallingly from every aspect.
The episode where Lee attempted suicide and it featured a parking attendant I think it was was really well done.
It’s a shame about that character leaving as the actor had a lot of potential.
Blimey, did Karen really do that finger gesture just regarding what Whitney and Callum would be doing now?
I hope Ash isn’t related to the new Sikh family as it’d be nice to not have all Sikhs lumbered in together, it’s be a tad more realistic. I do absolutely love her tho after just two episodes.
Shona once again showing her acting chops but Whitney is such a fool.
I love Ash...the Upminster line was iconic *.*
Both Lisa and Bianca returning in style *.*
I hope so much Whitney doesn’t go through with it.
It was so good seeing Mel & Lisa together again. And Kat and Bianca too for that matter!!
Kat and Bianca waking up in a cell was genius.
Mel and Lisa together feels so right.
When I first watched tonight’s episode I thought I’d missed an episode!
I was like what how’s Bianca and Kat in the cells, then I seen Lisa and was like what when did Lisa come back
Good episode tonight though
I was the same, i was sure i missed an episode but it was a good episode, i like both Bianca and Lisa but i think the Lisa return will be the better storyline.
Ya patsy has went against the show a few times and has openly said she only goes back for the money, I am surprised they have her back but i do like Bianca. I wonder will Ricky ever return.
The rumour is someone will be killed off this week, it really cant be anyone but Hunter unless the team have managed to keep an exit very quiet and we are in for a big surprise.
WHEN 👏 WILL 👏 SOAPS 👏 REALISE 👏 THAT 👏 BISEXUALITY 👏 IS 👏 REAL 👏
https://twitter.com/northernlawd/status/1168960576967585792
same x
I can see your point Liam BUT I can also see it from the point of the characters. Especially someone like Bianca who’s quite ignorant as a person and doesn’t think before she speaks she’d be quick to immediately say he’s gay he’s gay, likewise with Whitney as at the moment she’s currently in shock.
As for who dies... maybe it really is someone who’s NOT Hunter. Kate Oates is known for causing a stir and she’d be able to pull off a surprise exit in my opinion.
Am I missing something here? Have Hunter and Louise aged about 7 years in 2 years? I know the actors are in their 20's but is Hunter not meant to be like 15 and is running about with a full beard lmao?
Hunter is nearly 17 but the full beard is a bit much the actor is about 23 tho and Louise is 22 in real life.
Whitney in making a sensible decision SHOCKER.
Can’t really see anyone other than Hunter dying. Mel is leaving but I think it’d be foolish to kill her off (well I think the same about Hunter but he is more disposable) and though Bianca and Lisa aren’t sticking around I doubt they’d kill either of them.
With Louise being in the Vic, I guess the baby could be in danger.
I’d love it to be a shock death but they’ve let us down many a time in that regard.
omg imagine if they killed off Danny Dyer
a dream.
It's just been spoiled that someone else gets shot, although there's no way they'll be killing them off.
I think the facial hair on Hunter is pretty realistic. It's hardly a proper beard, it's just overgrown bumfluff and I know a fair few people his age that have facial hair like that.
I'm so hoping there's a surprise exit! Idk who I'd "like" it to be, for the first time in years Whitney has somewhere to go with the aftermath of this going on or else I'd say just kill her off. I think it'll just be Hunter but one thing Eastenders lacks compared to other soaps is the big surprise exits and twists, so I'd love it if they really pulled a curveball as long as it's not Callum or Ben!
I assumed the love being taken away speech he gave was because Paul died
Yeah I thought it was about Paul too.
I love how they’ve used Ben’s past effectively though, I just wish I could remember something vaguely interesting about Paul.
Linda Carter is set for a big storyline where
She develops a drinking problem
I'm sure Kellie will smash it, but wouldn't that storyline be more suited to Shirley?
I think it shows that it could happen to anyone and sometimes the people you often least suspect as well.
I’m excited for this its got great potential.
It makes sense with everything that's been piling up for Linda recently! Worrying about Ollie and his diagnosis, Mick's health and her own cancer scare.
Well it’s natural anyone married to Mick would go down that route.
But it does feel a bit tacked on. I can think of any number of characters that could have this story instead just like Mick’s Mental health story-which has been the real weak link in recent stories. I almost feel they are trying to turn her into Angie Watts.
I guess it could be good, but it could also be as lacklustre as her cancer ‘storyline’.
It kind of makes sense, but I agree Denise would have been perfect, Diane Parish hasn't had anything to do in SO long. I guess her life's going well atm with the business and Jack but it could have shown that alcoholism can affect even those who's lives are going well and it can consume that, it could have played into things and maybe put the business in danger, ruined things with Jack.
Kellie Bright will smash it but it looks to be a Carter heavy next year or so with that, Ollie's autism and Mick's panic attacks
I don’t think the ‘it shows it can happen to anyone’ really washes because everything seems to happen to Mick and Linda and no one else.
I totally forgot about her eating dis-order storyline but Kellie is brilliant at nailing the big stuff and she will with this too. I agree about shirley she needs her own storyline, denise got far overused under Sean o Connors reign and it's gone the opposite way now and she hasnt had much in ages.
This whole week has been fantastic. I’m really willing Ben and Callum do end up together and Whitney can do one
Literally no clue who’s been shot, so many of them jumped on it
I’m willing to bet whoever got shot tonight won’t die. I just hope if Mick is shot, he does die.
Fair few characters look to be safe. Bianca and Tiff got out, Sharon, Phil and Keanu aren’t in there and I don’t think Stuart is either.
All I can say is you probably won't be surprised when you find out who's been shot.
Another fantastic episode though!
YAS
Not Bex offering herself as a hostage knowing nobody gives a shit and queen Sonia of the NHS performing impromptu surgery on the floor *.*
What an episode though! Incredibly tense throughout and I genuinely didn't know what was going to happen.
I knew Hunter would end up dead that was always obvious. But what a week! Mel has possibly had all the tragic storylines now.
Sonia queen of saving everyone *.*
And lol at Bex thinking anyone would give a shit.
Also it’s eerie to realise how much Hunter’s death mirrored his father’s-both has Louise Mitchell hostage at the time.
Best episode in ages!! Pretty obvious Hunter was going to die but I did think for a moment it might be Mel in the slow mo section when Sharon shouted.
i love ben so much
I really thought at a few points Mel was gonna get shot, that's a big part of why it felt so tense. We all knew that the likes of say Louise, Sonia, Mick, Linda wouldn't be shot but Mel it was kind of plausible but would be huge and a shock still.
It’s a shame Hunters death leaked before hand but it was still a good episode and it was actually a pretty good exit that he got in the end even though he’s been killed off.
Definitely the best soap this week.
Really enjoyed that episode tense and gripping.
I really enjoyed all the episodes this week and last nights was very tense and well shot but I cannot get over king Phil being thrown into the mix, was no need and I'm sure as hell the police would of had the back way covered and he wouldn't of been able to just walk through and into the bar, into the barrel store without making a noise maybe ( how they ever have stock I don't know as its always unlocked) but the other door no way, not without noise and being noticed it was laughable and spoiled for me what was a good intense episode
Tamzin (Mel’s) latest tweet is written like we’ve already seen her final episode.
It wouldn’t surprise me if she has an off-screen exit after this and we get some rushed explanation from say Lisa in tomorrow’s ep
She’s tweeted that she finished filming and Mel’s in it for a while yet. I believe November is when she will bow out. There is a picture of her and Lisa in E20 with a ‘50’ balloon in the background doing the rounds which I assume means she’s still onscreen for Sharon’s 50th at the end of October.
No way is Sharon only 50?!
THIS FRIDAY
Time to end the show, it has peaked.
Autumn/winter preview from the Metro:
Mel absolutely broke my heart on Friday's episode. That final scene of her cradling Hunter with no-one else caring brought a tear to my eye; the bond that Tamzin and Charlie have struck is incredible and I believe everything that Mel does.
That title though - he played Alfie for 17 years didn't he?
The show has really built momentum and i think it has managed to get to the point where we both needed and wanted the show to be for a long time.
It has taken sometime to get the show to where it is and it is wonderful to have EastEnders back to must see tv once again.
Plenty of action the last few weeks and even better is its highly indicating there is even better to come.
It is the best of the soaps right now and with how the show is running the Christmas episodes should be gripping to say the least.
Not sure I’m up for a Carter centric 35th anniversary but I guess there’ll be other stuff like Sharon giving birth.
Loool why can’t it be a Fox/Trueman or Taylor or any other family-centric anniversary.. why does it need to be the Carters?
I applaud Kate and Jon for giving all the characters ago but the Carters have run their course. They should all leave bar Shirley.
I mean bring back the kids for the Carter’s and I’d be down for it but that isn’t going to happen anytime soon
Leo being Tony’s son has got some huge implications and I’m very intrigued about where this is going to go, especially for Whitney
Does Bianca need to focus on Whit? I need more clarity on this.
Tamzin Outhwaite *.* what an actor.
I liked Stuart’s acceptance of Callum. It was a nice touch.
Whitney’s just pissed that her 1950s housewife lifestyle has once more slipped from her grasp.
Danny Dyer won best actor at the TV Choice Awards last night
What a joke!
Think Bailey won Best Newcomer too. Good God.
I assume they decided the winner BEFORE Mick did his awful huffing and puffing routine.
It’s bad enough he blocks more talented actors from getting nominated let alone winning.
I saw Chantelle’s pregnancy coming a mile off.
I'm so loving eastenders right now I actually look forward to each episode now where for a long time watching some of the episodes was a chore.
Sonia with the secret barz
Just doin' this now x
Definitely here for Mel catching onto Sharon and Keanu.
That scene with Grey and Chantelle was so difficult to watch, he is infuriating which means the whole plot line/acting is fantastic
Living for Mel sussing Sheanu in seconds when no one got there last Summer despite them rarely being seen without each other.
Sonia’s trumpet to win Best Actor over Danny Dyer please.
The Chantelle and Gray story is being done so well. He is absolutely repulsive.
Stanning Mystic Mel
Echoing the love for Chantelle and Gray's storyline, awful to watch but both are playing a blinder.
Remember when Sharon convinced Louise that the recording of her and Keanu was just him helping her to exercise? :')
Agreed regarding the Chantelle/Gray story - both actors have really stepped up to the mark since it began. It's been really hard viewing. I'd be interested in seeing some form
of 'redemption' for Gray at the end of this. Obviously there's no excusing his behaviour but there must be some reasoning behind it rather than him simply being evil, so it would be interesting to see him confront his behaviour and seek professional help. There's no winners in domestic abuse and I think it would be helpful to show that there is a way out not only for the victim, but for the abuser too.
Lmaooo that sex recording being passed off as a bedroom work out!!! Sooo unrealistic.
Brief return announced for Lee Carter!!
Yes!! I had heard rumours as he had been spotted around Elstree but I'm glad it's confirmed. The show has the chance to right the wrongs it made during the latter end of his storyline in 2017 so I'm trusting Kate Oates and Jon Sen to do the character justice!
THERES MORE
I love seeing videos / photos of them at work.
That green room looked so fun today
Was tonight’s Biancas last episode too?
Hopefully they right the wrong with his return as that storyline was handled appallingly.
I'm going to be more interested in his dynamic with Callum tbh considering they're supposed to be friends and haven't spoken since his arrival :')
honestly every time i watch chantelle and gray i just want chantelle to tell karen about it!! shes so gonna lose the baby because of him, maybe that will be when both of them realise how bad things are etc or hopefully chantelle has more sense and leaves before then for the sake of her kids (including the unborn one). i definitely think it will be karen to find out first od maybe mitch so he can have his "i knew he was a bad one and should have done something before" drama
i really like mel and lisas dynamic together and im hoping that's something they can build on now hunter is dead erc
See I think Bailey might find out first or maybe one of Karen’s other sons who we hardly see?
Also does anyone else find the back of Phils head hilarious how the size of whatever that is stuck on the back of it after his accident. It really makes me laugh now i hope he keeps it for a long while yet my fave soap prosthetic since the time Leanne had a black eye in coronation street which seemed to double in size by the episode for weeks before disappearing altogether
yea exactly but you just know he's gonna get on his high horse over it :')
I would not be surprised to see the Gray storyline end with a who killed him.
It will be a long time away but when its revealed it could go that way.
They said it gets a lot darker, I think either she'll lose the baby when he attacks her or maybe she's near to death or something and it's one of those life changing things that's the catalyst to her telling everyone and getting out of there, or they could do Chantelle killing him in self defence, I think that would be a great topical storyline to do, more than a who killed him story that's just another murder.
Bex is just one of those kids at school you'd want to tell to fuck off for crying over getting A instead of an A*, isn't she? She's the least sympathetic character at the best of times but I just can't deal with her acting like she's so hard done by.
I would prefer Chantelle killing him in self defense ahead of a guess who killed him storyline.
I think a great storyline would be for Chantelle to attack him and for him to survive but end up with a disability on the back of her self defense leaving him at her mercy.
Can't stand Bex. She is not Oxford material and she is certainly not the best runner on the square
Kate Oates on the Gray/Chantelle storyline:
Rainie’s accurate read on Kathy’s character tho *.*
Bex is so shit. She should be excited for uni not desperate to live a mundane life on a market stall. I can’t remember the last time she did anything good.
Who wrote that article? Little Mo didn’t kill Trevor with an iron!
There was a time when Bex was really promising, throughout a fair bit of the bullying storyline, but that feels so distant now. I think the storyline would have been much more effective, and the character far easier to feel sympathy for, had she just worked hard to get in, been excited and happy and then struggled at uni and it could have been a really good mental health storyline that highlights something a lot of students struggle with. God knows what direction they've tried to/are trying to go in, but they've killed any sympathy you could have for her and I just want to see her fail now
the more i see of kate oats talking about what she wants to do with the show the more i stan, this is the best era of eastenders in a long time!
i dont want to see a gray murder storyline, i feel like he has a lot of layers to him that we've not seen yet so I'd much prefer a redemption arc or the like instead. i think seeing him lose everything because of his abuse would be interesting. if chantelle and the kids leave, he loses his job - get him to do a stint in jail even and see what kind of person he is when he comes out.
Yes redemption with consequences could be a good storyline for Gray. I would have liked to have seen the abuse in the opposite roles and chantelle to be beating Gray as this isnt touched on as much. The story telling is great at the moment and i agree we have waited a long time for the show to be consistently enjoyable, I'm back to looking forward to each episode again.
I agree, too often abusers go unpunished by being killed off. He needs to lose everything and reflect upon his actions. The storyline really is only just beginning.
I'll slap ya derrrwwn
Bobby on drugs is a mood
It’s hard to believe how much better the aftermath of Lucy’s death is being handled four years later compared to at the time.
Why does Tamzin have to leave? f***ing incredible actress.
I have always liked tamzin and she has been at her best lately since she came back which makes it more disappointing she is leaving as I really like her scenes with lisa.
Tamzin is smashing it right now!!!
I can see why she’s leaving but I’d love her to return in the near future again soon.
I hope she gets some sort of income out of the Mitchell’s before she goes. Pls blackmail Sharon and walk out of walford fuming but rich it’s what she deserves really.
Yes and I think that's how she will bow out and this would leave things open for a return for her.
It's a shame they didn't really use her until the last act of her stint, she's been amazing of late and it just goes to show what they could have got out of her for the whole stint had they given her stories throughout.
Her first year almost felt like a separate soap. I’m glad they’ve really used her well this year meaning her return wasn’t completely pointless.
Me whenever Bex is on screen
Jasmine is a good actress but her storyline let her down.
Some good storylining for her could really change the perception.
Bex is such a drip I honestly wouldn’t care if they packed her off to Oxford and they forgot about her for a few years like Libby but I know that won’t happen. All this ‘Bex is a hero’ tripe is just that and she really isn’t.
I want more Laura Beale mentions tbh. Her death is what really started all this for Bobby.
Bex was so likeable until the whole Oxford storyline happened. Now it's just like how long until she gets shipped off there :')
5th/6th October is the actual start of the university move in for Oxford so not long hopefully
i keep thinking Jane should make a return given all the bobby drama that's happening bc she was his biggest supporter all through the lucy stuff it doesnt really make sense for her not to be there tbh, i love laurie brett but being stuck with ian she didnt always get the best storylines i guess
i dont want mel to go either
Another surprise party for Bex in the vic tonight
Why do they keep taunting us with putting Kat behind the bar for a few episodes every so often and then taking her back out of the Vic again.
It feels so much more natural / right having her there than Mick and Linda :')
A Jane return if it’s done like Biancas could sort of work to be fair! Come back get involved in a handful of episodes and then maybe Bobby will leave to stay with Jane for a few weeks too before he then comes back.
The actress is doing a play isnt she I read a article of that on digital spy so I don’t think she’d stick around if she does indeed return. Unless she does a Lisa Riley in Emmerdale and returns briefly then comes back properly later on down the line.
Even if she doesn’t appear on screen I hope she’s at least mentioned more.
Jane is definitely really missing from this, fair enough if the actress is busy or didn't want to come back but given that she was only driven out by Max and given the writers' commitment to St. Max's redemption, it seems perfect timing for her to come back. Not only that, but it really doesn't seem in character for Jane to not even call or contact Bobby when he needs her most, however she left things in Walford.
If the actress can't return they can at least mention that Bobby went to visit her or that she just called or something.
!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAAHAH nooooo
Jane’s exit was so bizarre. It wasn’t publicised until it aired and she only left because of Max. His scheme was foiled just a couple of months later and she could have easily come back.
Why she was scared of the baked bean anyway is just
A return for Jane (if only brief) would bring the storyline to a more complete level.
It makes no sense having no Jane now Bobby is back but you cant force an actress to return, a short return would be good if she would do it.
I love how Mel is at rock bottom but she can still scalp everyone at any given moment.
you VULTURE
Does Mel have to leave Her and Lisa's scenes are the highlight of every episode atm. It's like old EE is back <3
It’s been fantastic seeing Mel and Lisa together again. I loved the mentions of Steve and Mark, takes me back to the time I was first watching.
I can’t wait for Sheanu to come out because Sharon is such a doormat for Phil it’s not even funny.
I stan Mel forever. She is going to destroy the Mitchells.
OMFG I CANT AT THE RONNIE/ROXY PART
Wait have the Mitchells somehow gangsta conned Mel out of her club? This show is ridiculous and plays favourites more unrralistically than superhero movies
i hate saying it but maybe they should have done a recast on jane to cover this bobby storyline but tbh i dont think anyone could replace laurie. now that i think about it and the fact bobby is now muslim, wouldn't having syed and christian back with jane be beneficial to bobby as well? ik syed wasn't exactly strict with his faith but he'll have a pretty good idea and it would probs count for a lot having another muslim in the family. bobby not even going to visit seems so off as well.
Dot will return with Dotty on October 3rd. Apparently Molly Conlin was approached to reprise the role but they ultimately decided they wanted someone else who looks older?? Typical EE
Also it's been confirmed Mel is going to blackmail Sharon over her affair.
Still unbelievable that Louise heaed them have sex in their bedroom, saw them together alllll the time, and Gangsta Sharon convinced her it was bedroom exercise
Oh for god's sake!
Why do they love Gangsta Sharon so much?! She is WEAK. There's no chance she'd chase Mel in a car
They need to axe Sharon NOW. The car crash would be the perfect end for Sharon.
Random but lately I am totally loving and stanning Sonia.
I can’t believe I used to rank her amongst my least favourites she’s a total legend and queen at the minute.
Queen of saving peoples lives with a pen, throwing a surprise party for Bex every week and all around being amazing.
I’ll ignore Michael’s deluded rants about Sharon and his attempts to body shame a middle aged woman tbh
Suicide attempt story confirmed for Bex.
For god's sake. No one is going to sympathise. It woulda been better if she didn't magically get the grades, really wanted to go and had loads of pressure to go, ended up in clearing and then got that storyline. Then there'd be sympathy. As is we're just fastforwarding her parts, like we do with Sharon.
I disagree that no one will be interested as i think it is an important issue to tackle (not just the suicide attempt) but college can bring various insecurities and issues.
The actress is definitely capable of pulling it off if we look at the bullying storyline and how great she was, I think it could be good! It's definitely an important issue to tackle, I think they should have gone down the route of her struggling at uni in the first place rather than all this exam crap.
Jasmine is a strong enough actress to serve the storyline good if the scripts are strong.
The actress can tackle it and it’s definitely something that needs coverage. I’m sure it might have been a bit more relatable though if she wanted to go and didn’t get the grades. Speaking from personal experience, my cousin attempted to take her life after not getting the result she wanted.
I just hope it is good though because I’ve found every scene with Bex lately to be pretty underwhelming.
I honestly thought she didn’t get the grades tbh until a poster on here reminded me that she did.
So I do agree with pretty much everyone who said that should’ve been the catalyst for it.
I mean, I guess the point is she feels she’s lost control and is being forced into something she doesn’t want to do but it’s not been that convincing. Her family haven’t actually piled too much pressure on her and she’s barely even tried to explain that she doesn’t want to go to uni.
I guess what’s missing in this story is motivation for her to do anything but uni. Back when she wanted a music career, it would have made a bit more sense.
I feel like Bernie Taylor could’ve been a better candidate for this story if they wanted it to be a female character.
But the Bex actress is capable. I’m guessing it’ll build on screen more throughout this week.
Bex's storyline is so confusing. For ages she wanted nothing more than to go to uni; now it seems like she doesn't want to go but it's so hard to work out as she kept working really hard to get the grades she needed, then it seemed she did get the grades she needed but was still not satisfied. As I've said before, she's just one of those people who isn't happy unless they're moaning about something.
I'm sure the suicide attempt will be well written but I hope the focus is more on Sonia's reaction as I really don't think the actress is up to the job. She's never impressed me, she's too aware of the camera and has the same facial expressions for everything.
This storyline should see Natalie deliver some strong scenes and it may help Jasmine show what she can do.
Mel causing Sharon to absolutely shit herself *.*
Mel and Sharon head to heads are always a real treat to watch.
Oh lawwd just axe Sharon already!!
Weak and wobbly. She is NOT A GANGSTA!!
The storyline has diverted into different areas which makes it harder to identify the real problem.
The pressure appears self inflicted and maybe that is the area they will explore and highlight.
Bexs seemed to suffer with what she sees as others expecting her to achieve.
i think they need to give bex more to struggle with than just not wanting to go to uni for people to understand why she'd want to kill herself because looking at it on paper, shes got good grades, she's got into one of the best unis, she very much has a future and often if you're suicidal that's something you feel you dont have. okay its not what she wants to do but she's a smart girl, surely she'd realise all she has to do is tell someone that and then think about an alternative? sonia isn't the type to not support that either, her family aren't even pressuring her in general and like i said, shes got the grades which means there are other options for her.
maybe if this storyline isn't happening soon it might give the writers more things to give bex to struggle with. it would be more relatable if she has a gradual build up of things not working out for her. I agree with Liam in that it would have worked better if she wqs struggling at uni because there's the pressures of maintaining grades and living away from home, having a social life etc and if bex isn't doing that and also feels really alone bc shes away from her family then that could be more understandable. ik mental health is tricky and saying someone doesn't have enough to feel suicidal over is a bit dickish but i cant help but feel it's a bit of an extreme outcome for just not wanting to go to uni but we'll see how it pans out i suppose
Hoping we get some scenes away at uni however for this.
Wedding confirmed for Keegan and Tiffany in November. Um ok.
What??
Well they’re going to try and elope but yeah there’s pictures of a wedding scene
that is rabdom af, i was expecting it to be ted and wanda tbf
Okay I'm gonna start watching again
Gonna start from Monday 2nd September which is the day of Whitney and Callum's wedding so there's 14 episodes to catch up with. Gonna get stuck right in *.*
Looking forward to the next Ben recast, as this one is just not doing it.
Cellulite Keanu must be the worst actor in the show's history. My god he's crap. His moves are: touch nose, look away to the right, grimmace, walk like Phil Mitchell, touch nose, point.
Whaaa? I think this Ben Mitchell is great
I have to agree about Keanu though.. his substance amounts to a few words amongst “Where’s Louise?” every few minutes.
yea i really like this ben as well!
It took me time to warm to this new Ben but i like him and he fits in very well to the show now.
2 is me whenever Bex is on screen.
Bex is a divided character here as a few don't like her.
I want to know the context of 3.
I'm not even certain it's Natalie Cassidy! Looks more like Morgana Robinson as Sonia.
switching between a 4 and a 6 every 10 mins or so
5 is the start of the night, 8 is during the night and 7 is the morning after.

Article on DS confirming a new Whitney romance story
Leo of all people will be very interesting. Wonder how long it’ll be until she finds out who he is.
It's a very whitney thing.
Whitney in another doomed romance story though
It’s all she gets
f*** sake, if she gets engaged AGAIN...
Ya I'm not a big whitney fan as her storylines are repetitive. I'm not really enjoying the Bobby storyline as I'm finding the actor is still very wooden with his performances. Lisa and mel are such a joy in the recent episodes they have great on screen chemistry and remind me of classic eastenders.
Mel & Sharon are being so iconic omg
Mel with the unrealistic bribes
Mel is just everything, how did the utilise her so badly last year.
Really wish she wasnt leaving.
Not that it’s a massive issue but how long are they keeping it at 8:30pm on a Friday? Corrie being on for an hour and this pushed back just seems odd
Bet they kill her off with parallelism, with her stealing Louise from Sharon, or even Sharon's baby to make up for Hunter, with her passing the baby/ opening Louise's door. She'll help them escape but blow up, just like Steve and Phil. Sigh. What a load of old codswollop!
The good thing aboot this Sheanu reveal thing is that there are lots of actors involved. This means his atrocious acting will be protected by having lots of good actors around him!
Sharon will be nowhere near due to give birth by the time Mel leaves.
The Autumn trailer!! It looks like we’re in for a treat 😭😭
Yes yes!
We have some episodes coming our way based on the trailer.
So that was apparently Ted’s exit. I won’t miss him but I do wonder what could have happened for him and Joyce if they’d had competent producers early on. The
Wont be missed at all, the character seemed it was never thought out, getting rid of pam and les for Ted and joyce never made any sense to me at all.
Tbh it was a nice, natural exit but I know Denise is gonna be on edge after Sheree’s reveal about her mum
