What are your most overrated and underrated sitcoms of all time then? These are mine...
Overrated: Will & Grace - Karen has her moments but the other characters are annoying and I’ve never really found it that funny Family Guy - Other than the odd Stewie and Brian moment it’s utter shite The Big Bang Theory - Annoying characters, tedious laugh track. Penny is the only good thing about it The Royle Family - Just never got it at all. So dull and boring Friends - It’s not a bad show but I don’t understand why so many people consider and treat it like it’s the “daddy” of all sitcoms?! Veep - This is a bit harsh as I’ve only seen a few episodes and some Youtube clips but I just didn’t find it that funny at all. I absolutely love Julia though so perhaps I need to give it more of a chance. Underrated: The King of Queens - Really funny with a great cast. It feels so under appreciated to me and it should have got some Emmy recognition Everybody Loves Raymond - I know it did win big at the Emmys but it still feels underrated to me. Even more so when compared to the likes of Seinfeld and Friends 3rd Rock from the Sun - Such a funny/unique show. Brilliant cast, John Lithgow is absolutely brilliant. Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry David is a genius. |

I'm another one who just doesn't get the appeal of Friends at all and I agree on Big Bang too.
Is Mrs Browns Boys a sitcom? If so THAT. Literally the unfunniest thing i've ever seen. Tbh though, comedy is something I struggle with especially shows with canned laughter as well I often think 'ok what's funny....' |

Friends was always something me and my friends would stick on when we were hungover. It was never something I found particularly funny but it was quite easy watching, something to have on without having to use your brain.

Overrated: The Big Bang Theory. My daughter loved it though.
Friends. She loved that too and watched the same ones over and over again. Massively overrated imo and not even very funny. This post has been edited by Crazy Chris: 2nd February 2020, 07:05 PM |

Another vote for Friends being massively overrated.
One of the most underrated comedies returns for a second series on Channel 4 on Wednesday. The first series of Home, about a Syrian refugee, was great so I'm looking forward to its return, particularly after it left us with a cliff-hanger ending. |

How I Met Your Mother is truly one of the worst shows I've ever seen.
Mrs Browns Boys goes without saying as well. |

Mrs Brown's Boys is in the Overrated pile here for sure. Likewise most things that Peter Kay has had a hand in.
Underrated...I can think of more than a few: - Coupling. This was such an excellent show, some really interesting storylines, funny characters and devices used (the split screen episode after Susan and Steve break up springs to mind), and I especially loved Gina Bellman who played Jane and Richard Coyle who played Jeff. They were so off the wall in their personalities and had some of the best one liners in that show. - As Time Goes By. It probably seems quite twee with retrospect, but when you've got Dame Judi Dench in your cast I'd argue you're onto a winner. She proved her salt in comedy just as much as she did in the more serious dramatic stuff she's known for. I thought the partnership between her and Geoffrey Palmer as Jean and Lionel was really sweet. |

Judi Dench had done sitcom before in the ITV series A Fine Romance. She starred alongside her husband Michael Williams.

Overrated:
- How I Met Your Mother is the most overrated sitcom imo. The idea of the whole sitcom is really nice but I always thought the actors lacked chemistry and most of the jokes are corny. Barney's personality would be controversial in 2020 as well. - Big Bang Theory went on for too long and is definitely overrated as well but I did have some great years. Underrated... - I used to love Love Inc. which only ran for 1 season but I have no idea how I'd feel about it now since I haven't seen anything of it in at least a decade. - I also thought Off Centre was really funny which only ran for 2 seasons. Although again, no idea if I'd still like it now. |

Have to agree with HIMYM, TBBBT and Mrs Brown's Boys! Can't see anything remotely funny in any of those.
Everybody Loves Raymond definitely never gets enough love! |

I think all of this proves Mrs Brown's Boys is underrated IMO - the massive hate piled onto it always seems so extreme to me!

Underrated on here (what there is to rate exactly I'm not sure) but the GP lap it up and just won an award over the much funnier, much more clever and witty Derry Girls and Fleabag. |

I have only seen a few sitcoms. Mrs Browns' Boys was funny in parts I suppose but also rather annoying. Benidorm I liked though, even though it didn't provide the most laughs. And Plebs provided some good laughs but they also went a bit puerile for my tastes in quite a few of the jokes
