New Country Registration

Thinking about joining the fun here in the Buzzjack Song Contest? Well all we need from you is two simple things!

• The capital city of your fine nation

It's that simple! Sign up by posting the above two bits of information in this thread, a moderator will confirm your registration and you will be able to enter the next contest!

We encourage you to set up a thread for your nation where you can celebrate the success of your entries, discuss potential entries to the next contest and give as much or as little detail about your nation as you wish! Don't worry, I still have all the map requests (the old thread isn't gone forever, just locked and unpinned), everyone who requested a place will still get that place when I get around to updating it!

The once long-dead-bar-Rontvia continent of Vinorel is now buzzing with 4 and soon to be 5 active nations thanks to the debuts of Land of DW/Thelonia/Aprogonia and the return of Sangria ;o

That was never what the rule was to begin with! It's that inactive countries are banished to the southern irrelevant continents after 45 contests of inactivity. Though the southern continents are nowhere near as irrelevant now as they were when they were first discovered (i.e. lumped onto the map) anyway.

Now you mention this though I've just checked and several countries have just hit the 45 contests of inactivity mark this month / last month - Angelicland, Bhangra, Camdonia, Liechenstaan, M.K.L., Nonsuch and Spizil are all due to be banished ;o

Jamora are due for the chop in 2 contests but that doesn't mean you're allowed to invade them x

What does well in PJSC is often very different to what does well in BJSC - see Findlay coming 2nd there and DNQing here vs. SANNI coming 2nd here and 33rd there - so if you don't do too well over there that might actually be a GOOD thing. Of course you could just end up flopping in both like Totto

PJSC does not have a veto the way it is in BJSC. It's completely different in that it's based on the percentage the panel members are willing to give the song and average it between the 4/5. Anything below 50% gets binned and any over passes.

The official position of the Persephonian government supports the Ashtonise claim to the entire island, however Carellis Maps treats the issue with more caution. The map has been updated to reflect the dispute (Notably Persephonian East Allecian is still not represented on the map which has caused controversy within Persephonia)

There is a contest every month (except June and December where we have special contests!), and we also have a spin-off contest every month or two based around a theme (for example there is a Christmas spin-off you could enter right now if you wanted to!) over in our http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/BJSC-Spin-Off-f222.html.

You can enter the spin-offs straight away as soon as you register a country name, and you will be able to join the main contest in March. As Mattias says we have to impose a 3 month wait for new members to join the main contest to prevent aliases (people making multiple countries for themselves and giving themselves points), but feel free to explore the spin-off forum straight away!

At the same session, the parliament also approved a new flag for the nation. Unfortunately, due to an almighty balls-up within the ministry concerned, the rules for the competition to design a new flag contained a misprint. The intention was to call for designs for an uncomplicated flag. Somehow, the letters u and n got lost somewhere, so this is the winning design...

Just read all the veto rules, and I have noticed that the artist have been used once before and they have charted in one of named countries in the past 24 months (but with a different song) - making 10 points from what I can see?

Have updated the map with Medhelnia and Suedeonia plus new islands for Hushkanukia and Yehesi (and rebrands of Summericia to Aeyundoré and Terra di Campioni to F.D. Anēné)! 4 more countries to claim a place there now.

I have also downsized a few more of the ancient inactive countries in the southern continents to free up more spaces (and give Mulgracia/Suedeonia/Flynnonda the possibility to actually have active neighbours lol)

Scherzland haven't entered for a while, Kyle said earlier this year that they might be returning but nothing has come of that yet. Launiça (Charlie aka Soy Adrián) I think must have given up on the contest when they realised pretty much no one liked rock entries (at the time at least) Their only finalists were Imagine Dragons' 'Radioactive' and one before that which was in a One Big Final contest.
