'Shape Of You' being dropped after only 13 weeks on the playlist, compared to 'One Dance's 15 weeks, what a flop! I wonder if this is the first time they've dropped a song while it's Number 1? (unless they know something we don't about tonight's chart)

Strange that there's only 15 songs on the A-list this week when there's normally 16. Why couldn't they have left Anne-Marie on for another week, or perhaps moved 'Skin' up following last week's B-list add? Unless there's a surprise release over the weekend they're reserving a place for?

Poor Zayn, stalling on the B-list while Harry goes straight to A-list!

Great adds for Ariana Grande, J Hus, Kendrick Lamar, Riton, Stormzy and THEY.!

Yesss Ariana! wub.gif also, excellent to see Louisa finally move to the B-list, hopefully she can benefit properly now!

Posted by: d♀nG 7th April 2017, 08:54 AM

How strange that they've dropped 'Shape Of You' already when they kept 'One Dance' on until the week it got kicked off #1 (there's no way 'Galway Girl' has overtook it to #1 surely?)

Some really good C-List additions this week! J Hus, Kendrick, Riton and Stormzy dance.gif

Bit strange that Guetta was insta-added when it released yet it's still stuck on the C-List. Some of the songs they hype recently end up with such a cold reception and don't do well on the Playlist.

Posted by: Hadji 7th April 2017, 09:11 AM

They should remove "Slide" and add "Heatstroke". So glad "Shape Of You" has been removed

I think that's more down to its poor chart performance so far

Posted by: Lenny 7th April 2017, 09:29 AM

Guetta has lost all identity with this track. I think the GP struggle to take him so seriously these days. A shame as he seemed to be back on track with "Lovers On The Sun" just 3 years ago.

I wonder if they'll be playing a radio edit of the Harry Styles track?

Posted by: howiet1971 7th April 2017, 09:32 AM

Equally glad 'Shape of you' gone.....

I really hope this Guetta song doesn't take off so that he actually tries to release something good, 'Light My Body Up' is such a disappointment.

I'm not so convinced that is the right thing to do. 'Slide' is currently doing a lot better in the chart than 'Heatstroke', it's probably best that 'Heatstroke' just serves as a promotional single whilst 'Slide' is still high in the charts.

Yeah, also there's nothing exciting about a Nicki Minaj feature anymore. She hasn't evolved as an artist and is just featuring on any old thing still.

I think you're right, I was going to bring up 'Swalla' but Nicki's part on that is quite pointless really.

She is literally featuring on Nick Jonas soundtrack songs in 2017. After being this long in the business and having established herself so much she shouldn't need to do that, but it cheapens her appeal.

Agree re: all the Nicki Minaj comments. It's hard to see her having another really big hit unless she moves with the times.

They didn't during his interview on Radio 1 this morning but I'd be surprised if they didn't get a shorter radio edit going forward, I can't imagine Radio 1 (and particularly Capital actually) being happy to play an almost 6-minute song in full all the time! laugh.gif

Posted by: M4NG0 7th April 2017, 10:00 AM

^^ I imagine they'll add a radio edit to spotify at some point too?

Posted by: Tinasha 7th April 2017, 10:01 AM

Capital will not move this to power rotation unless they get a shorter edit.

Posted by: Hadji 7th April 2017, 10:10 AM

Seeing as SOY has been removed, does this mean that it's the first time they've removed a song while it's #1 or is it spoiling us that he won't be #1 today? I remember "One Dance" was removed the day it was knocked off the top

Posted by: RobinJuanPersie 7th April 2017, 12:04 PM

Ariana, Kendrick & Stormzy wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif Probably my favourite playlist additions of all time. The J Hus track isn't too bad either.

There will be a short radio edit of around 3 mins long. If there's not, then they will be likely to get the knife out and butcher it themselves.

Ariana, Kendrick, Rition, Sigrid, Stormzy all good wub.gif

I think Capital already have a radio edit to play so I assume Radio 1 will have one too!

Posted by: mr_pmt 7th April 2017, 01:28 PM

I couldn't have imagined they'd snub Ariana, but that seems like a strangely late addition!

YAY for Disciples and Louisa moving up. I hope this helps the latter out somewhat.

Posted by: Вuzzjack 7th April 2017, 01:40 PM

Money - Riton and co is nowhere near as good as Betta Riddim imo but it is at least much better imo than the awful Rinse and Repeat.

It does make me sad that Betta Riddim wasn't added to the playlist, guessing the reason Money has been added as it is more tropical and R&B sounding, fitting more with trends.

SIGRID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wub.gif

INCREDIBLE pop song.

Posted by: TMD_24 7th April 2017, 05:00 PM

With Shape Of You still no1.jpg and there being only 15 spots on the A-List compared to 16 last week, I think the removal is a mistake.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 7th April 2017, 05:08 PM

Was there not only 16 on the a-list because the Ed songs shared a spot?

Can't blame them for taking Shape of You off anyway, they definitely seem to be pushing for a Harry #1 next Friday!

Posted by: Riser 9th April 2017, 01:28 AM

Yeah, I recall there being just 15 on the A-list until the likes of Drake and Ed had two songs A-listed simultaneously.

Posted by: 34yopoppicker 9th April 2017, 06:12 PM

Where the feck are Gorillaz? The music is totally up Radio 1's street and they have given them spot plays already, starting to worry though as still no sign. Are they being snubbed because of Damon's 90s dadrock association? They've supported Fatboy Slim, Dr Dre and the Chemical Brothers in the last four years so can't see why they would ignore Gorillaz, who are DEFINITELY not Radio 2able.

Apart from a few songs, Radio 1 still occasionally abide by impact dates and Gorillaz's new music hasn't exactly set the charts alight. Radio 1 will probably playlist one of the songs closer to the album release.

Posted by: 34yopoppicker 9th April 2017, 06:37 PM

Hope so. There's tonnes of things Radio 1 get behind that don't do anything chart-wise. Two Weeks by FKA Twigs, one of the best songs of 2014, got to about #189, and hardly any of the guitar bands they play ever go top 100. Gorillaz are too exciting and important to be left to 6 Music. The fact that Damon has been in with MistaJam bodes well, but then again La Roux debuted Uptown Downtown on Zane a few years ago and that was snubbed completely playlist-wise. That was far more Radio 2able though. At least Gorillaz have cracked the Top 100!

Posted by: TMD_24 9th April 2017, 06:45 PM

I'm surprised also that Linkin Park hasn't been given full support either (Tune Of The Weekend a while back ago) as well while we are at artists taking ever so long to be added. Perhaps they are also waiting for the album.

Posted by: 34yopoppicker 9th April 2017, 06:52 PM

I am happy that Radio 1's attitude towards older acts has changed over recent years. Much more acts in their late 30s/40s doing vibrant/relevant R1-friendly stuff than there were when I was firmly in the target audience. If someone had told me in 2003 that Craig David, Sia, Sean Paul and Coldplay would be huge Radio 1 acts in 2017 I'd have said they were insane. Was great to see Go by the Chems become such a R1 banger too.

I'm with this totally! Both Battle Symphony and Heavy were bangers and definitely had a lot of hit potential (Heavy nearly charted in the top 40 in its own right without any radio support) - I hope that they push a single from the album when it comes out.

But they usually playlist the single in advance of the album release. Lets hope they give it some support at any rate!

Posted by: gavindeejay 12th April 2017, 03:27 PM

I know they have put out four tracks over the past few weeks, but have any of the tracks been nominated as a single? If not, then this might be the reason for the lack of playlist?

Did they playlist 'Stylo' or anything else from the 'Plastic Beach' era?
