Spinoff of the decade running 90's superhit Beverly Hills 90210 that made actors like Jason Priestly and Shannon Doherty household names. This show wrote the rules for later teen shows like Dawsons Creek and especially The O.C.
Original cast of Beverly Hills 90210 new cast for 90210: Many of the original cast members are set to guest star and do regular appearances. Including Shannon Doherty after her well publicised exit in 1994! Its reported she fell out with the producers and did not get along with her cast mates (ala charmed) It is to premier on the CW network. And the plot?: 90210 looks at life through the eyes of Annie Mills (Shenae Grimes) and her brother Dixon (Tristan Wilds), whose first day at West Beverly Hills High School leaves no doubt they're not in Kansas anymore. The Mills family, including dad Harry (Rob Estes) and mom Debbie (Lori Loughlin), has relocated to Beverly Hills to keep an eye on Harry's mother Tabitha (Jessica Walter), a feisty-but-faded former television star and a charter member of the Betty Ford Clinic. For Annie and Dixon, the awkwardness of being the new kids is made worse by the fact that their dad has taken a job as the high school principal. The school is one big culture shock for Annie, a sweet and friendly girl with a passion for the theater, and Dixon, a star athlete and scholar who was adopted by the Mills family after they took him in as a foster child. Annie and Dixon have a close sibling relationship, which they'll need to help them cope with all the new cliques and classmates, including Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), a hot, spoiled, rich girl; Ethan (Dustin Milligan), a popular jock whose abilities rival Dixon's; Navid (Michael Steger), an aspiring reporter who heads up the school's daily newscast; and Silver (Jessica Stroup), a rebel who produces and stars in a YouTube-type video series. Even the faculty seems hip and sophisticated at WBHHS, such as smart and funny teacher Ryan Matthews (Ryan Eggold) and beautiful guidance counselor Kelly Taylor (guest star Jennie Garth). The Mills family has just begun to realize how much their lives are about to change. Rumour has it that the lead role of Annie Mills was offered to Hilary Duff but she turned it down as she does not want to be involved in teenage projects anymore. Anyone else a fan of the original show and is eager to see if they pull of this spin off? This post has been edited by Ozmead: 4th July 2008, 01:48 PM |

90210 Preview from the upfronts I also heard the Hilary Duff, rumour, i heard she turned it down as she didnt want to be tied to a potentialy long running series, and wants to consentrate on her music and on movies. I think it might have been best for her to try out doing 90210 tbh. |

BAH! One Tree Hill is gonna be better Shannon Doherty from the original cast is gonna be coming back as well as Tori Spelling. Never watched the original but ill will give this a go I cant imagine one tree hill being better. Its tap water compared to evian. beverlly hills is the most succesfull show of its kind. so if the spin off is anything like it we're in for a big hit. I was only 4 when the show first started and I was 14 when it ended. I think I lost touch with it towards the end. But I pretty much grew up with this show. opening with original cast members. This was for season 4 (Shannon's last season). Its so nostalgic to watch. Notice the casts corny posses to the camera!: Tori has backed out of the spin off for now because she wants to concentrate on motherhood. I think Hilary turning down the show was a big mistake. As much as I like her she needed something like this to re introduce her to the public in a more sexy teen role. This could have totally help change her image. Total missed opportunity for her This post has been edited by Ozmead: 6th July 2008, 03:12 PM |

I really do wonder how thy are going to write in these comebacks and interwine them with the new cast. Shannon's comeback will be the most interesting considering her charactor left in 94 and never returned. |

Words cannot express how much I detested this show... It was like some horrendous rip-off of "Grange Hill" with annoying, rich Yank brats..... Jason Priestley and Luke Perry aint exactly household names anymore, I cant even think of anything recently that either has been in.... Priestley had a short-lived film career and turned up in stuff like "Tombstone" in minor supporting roles, but I'm drawing a blank as to anything more recent tbh.... Oh, and of course Luke Perry turned up in an episode of "Family Guy"....
Shannon Doherty did pretty well with "Charmed" and "Mall Rats"... I grew to kind of like her when she started actually acting.... |

Luke Perry had a short cameo on Hope & Faith
Jason Priestley was a series regular on Tru Calling (Series 1 & 2) before it got cancelled I agree with the Household name thing though that Grimly said. I would say that Shannon is a household name though especially after Charmed. Straight after she left the show lost 3m in viewers... They didnt even give the season 4 premier a chance |

I never meant they were household names anymore but in the 90's they were the IT actors of TV because of they're show.

I watched about six episodes and gave up tbh, found it just incredibly dull..... When did Priestley come into the show then.....? |

Around mid-season 1. i would say more towards the end though.. he played a big part in the whole plot of season 1 and season 2... even if it did last for 6 episodes |

When did Priestley come into the show then.....? Jason Priestly's charactor really added to the show. The first half of season 1 was exactly the same. Each episode was so formulatic. Priestly's charactor was the anti Dushku's charactor. She went back to save people, he went back to make sure they still died! It added a whole new dynamic to the show. Unfortunately by then it was to late. The show got great as it ended |

I think he comes in towards the end of season 1 |

acording to perezhilton.com Jason Priestly has been contacted by the producers of the new show but declined their offer! Saying after 249 episodes h thinks the charactor of Brendon has....quote "done his time". How ungratefull. Like he hsa anything else better to do. Instead he has asked if he can direct some episodes. As he did direct some of the original show's episodes, 18 of them. I hope they say NO

I can understand actors not really wanting to repeat themselves, but like you say, it aint as if he's got owt else on, and his film career hardly took off.. Directing might be the answer for him tbh.. Look how well it turned out for Ben Affleck... |
