Biography

Professor Green is neither, but he is an MC -- born Stephen Paul Manderson -- who hails from Hackney, London, England. The irreverent storyteller got his start when he competed in a freestyle battle at a Camden bar. He not only emerged victorious, but went on to win several other competitions and was witnessed by Mike Skinner (aka the Streets) at Brixton's B-Boy Championships. Skinner subsequently provided a production to Green, who turned it into "Stereotypical Man" and included it on the 2006 mixtape Lecture #1. Skinner also signed the MC to The Beats, though nothing more than a promotional EP materialized prior to the label's 2007 demise. After self-releasing an EP in 2008, Green was attacked at a London club, stabbed in the neck, and nearly died, but the event did nothing to slow him down. Virgin signed him, and his first two singles with the label, 2010's "I Need You Tonight" (which sampled the INXS song of the same title) and "Just Be Good to Green" (which featured Lily Allen and made use of the S.O.S. Band's "Just Be Good to Me" and Beats International's "Dub Be Good to Me") reached the Top Ten of the U.K. singles chart. Alive Till I'm Dead, Green's first proper album, featured both songs and was released in July 2010. A year later his "Read All About It" single appeared along with his sophomore album, At Your Inconvenience. In 2013 he released the single "Are You Getting Enough?" and announced that his album Growing Up in Public would arrive in 2014. - iTunes

Jonas Blue
London-based electronic dance producer Jonas Blue (born Guy James Robin in Essex, England) caught the attention of the industry with his reimagining of Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit "Fast Car." Adding a tropical house tint to the plaintive, bittersweet acoustic original, Blue enlisted the talents of young British singer Dakota, whose sultry vocals helped carry the song to the top of 17 international charts, including number one slots in Australia, Scotland, and both the U.K. and U.S. dance charts. In 2016 Blue released "Perfect Strangers," the follow-up to his global smash, featuring JP Cooper on vocals. The single landed in the Top Ten internationally and was followed by "By Your Side" with Raye. The following year he issued "Mama," his collaboration with Australian pop vocalist William Singe. That track would appear on Electronic Nature: The Mix 2017, a compilation of favorites from the DJ's own live sets. In addition to his own hit singles, the collection included his spins on songs by Galantis, Zedd, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, and more. HRVY
Pop/R&B vocalist HRVY was born Harvey Cantwell in Kent, England in 1999. Like many starry-eyed youngsters, Cantwell started out mimicking pop stars as a child, pretending to be Michael Jackson or Justin Timberlake while singing for his parents. In his teenage years he was encouraged by friends to upload videos of his performances to Facebook, and in 2013, with the help of manager Blair Dreelan (former vocalist of pop group East 17), he was soon performing live and quickly signing with Universal Music. HRVY's first single, "Thank You," was released in late 2013 and became a huge hit. Among various tours, appearances, single releases, and other pop star activities, Cantwell appeared occasionally as a guest presenter on BBC television show Friday Download, and signed on as a full-time host in 2016. He regularly uploaded videos to his YouTube channel, including frequent cover songs and collaborations with other pop stars. In 2017 he released his Holiday EP, which included the hit single "Phobia," among other tracks. HRVY scored another hit in November of that year with "Personal" from his second EP, Talk to Ya. In April 2018, he found crossover success with "Hasta Luego," a Latin single he recorded with Cuban-American singer Malu Trevejo. Biography

Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (/kəˈmiːlə kəˈbeɪoʊ/; Spanish: [kaˈmila kaˈβeʎo]; born March 3, 1997) is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter. She rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, formed on The X Factor (U.S.) in 2012, signing a joint record deal with Syco Music and Epic Records.

Biography

Birmingham-based grime MC Mist rose out of the mid-2010s grime resurgence, proving that you don't have to be from London to be taken seriously in U.K. rap circles. Biography

New York-based singer/songwriter Ari Leff, aka Lauv, makes yearning, electronic-based, R&B-influenced pop. He came to wide prominence in 2017 with his breakout hit "I Like Me Better."

Interested in music from a young age, the San Francisco-born Leff took piano and viola lessons as a child before picking up the guitar around age 11. During high school, he played in several bands and studied jazz before discovering electronic music production. However, it was while attending N.Y.U. as a music tech major in 2014 that a bad breakup found Leff on his own and digging deep into his writing and recording process. Out of this period came the song "The Other," co-written with songwriter/instrumentalist Michael Matosic. In 2017 Lauv headed his own Late Nights, Deep Talks tour and premiered the official video for "The Other," along with a series of remixes. The single was also included on his full-length debut, 2018's I Met You When I Was 18, which also featured the singles "Paranoid" and "Bracelet." Biography

Coming on smart, sassy, and strong, like an indie Missy Elliot, Minneapolis rapper and singer Lizzo arrived in the Twin Cities with a hard sound and stance, thanks to her Texas roots and time learning the ropes with crews like Atlanta's Crime Mob. Born Melissa Jefferson in Houston and raised in Detroit, Lizzo earned her moniker when she joined the uniformly named members -- Lexo, Nino, and Zeo -- of the Cornroll Clique. A 2011 move to Minneapolis found her fronting Lizzo & the Larva Ink while joining the neo-TLC-type group the Chalice. Her work began to intertwine with the city's indie scene, which included artists like Gayngs, Doomtree, Marijuana Deathsquads, and Har Mar Superstar; listening to a copy of Doomtree producer Lazerbreak's album Lava Breaks brought her out of a long case of writer's block.

Inspired by Lazerbreak's work, she recorded the album Lizzobangers with the producer plus Gayngs member Ryan Olson. The album was released in 2013 on the Totally Gross National Product label. After making guest appearances on tracks by Prince & 3rdEyeGirl ("Boytrouble"), Clean Bandit ("New Eyes"), Bastille ("Torn Apart"), and Sean Anonymous & DJ Name ("Cold Shoulder"), Lizzo released her second full-length album, 2015's Big GRRRL Small World, on her own BGSW label. In October 2016, Lizzo made her major-label debut with the EP Coconut Oil, which was released by Atlantic's Nice Life imprint. The following year saw her drop the singles "Water Me" and "Truth Hurts," with "Fitness" and "Boys" arriving the following year. Born Tijs Michiel Verwest in the small Dutch city of Breda in 1969, Tiësto went on to become more than just a world-famous electronic musician—he largely created the model for a powerhouse DJ in the 21st century. He got his start in the mid-’80s, when the skeletal sounds of Belgian new beat ruled Holland’s clubs, but it was trance—sleeker and more emotive—that moved him. With her soulful vocals and joyful energy, British-Albanian pop singer Rita Ora made her debut in the late 2000s, quickly rising to the top of the U.K. charts with her debut album Ora. Born Rita Sahatçiu in Pristina, Kosovo to Albanian parents, she fled the former Yugoslavia with her family in 1991, relocating to England, where she was raised in Notting Hill. An attendee of the famous Sylvia Young Theater School, she sang from an early age and honed her skills singing in pubs and at open mikes. Freya Ridings is a London-based singer, songwriter, and pianist with a notably rich, soulful vocal tone. When Duke Dumont topped the UK charts with his single “I Got U” in 2014, many listeners may have assumed that featured artist Jax Jones was the singer. In fact, Jones (born Timucin Aluo in 1987) was a cowriter and producer on the song, whose No. 1 position marked his auspicious debut. Raised in London by a Turkish father, a Malaysian mother and a Nigerian stepfather, Jones grew up on a mix of American hip-hop, UK dance and African music, which might help to explain the mix of styles that swirls through his music: His youthful fondness for Prince shows through in funk-infused cuts like 2015’s “Ocean Drive”, while Afro-Caribbean accents bubble up in 2018’s “Ring Ring,” a lilting tropical-house jam. Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (/ˈʃɪərən/; born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. He attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford as an undergraduate from the age of 18 in 2009. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK. The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Sheeran's third album, ÷ (pronounced "divide"), was released in March 2017. The first two singles from the album, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill", were released in January 2017 and broke records in a number of countries, including the UK, Australia and Germany, by debuting in the top two positions of the charts. He also became the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week. By March 2017, Sheeran had accumulated ten top 10 singles from ÷ on the UK Singles Chart, breaking the record for most top 10 UK singles from one album. Ariana Grande-Butera (/ˌɑːriˈɑːnə ˈɡrɑːndeɪ/; born June 26, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. A multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning recording artist, she is known for her wide vocal range, which critics have often compared to that of Mariah Carey. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, Grande began her career in 2008 in the Broadway musical, 13. Biography

A London-based grime MC of Ghanaian heritage, Stormzy made a swift rise in the early 2010s to become one of the U.K.'s most critically-acclaimed artists. Climbing out of the underground grime scene, he made his breakthrough in 2017 with his platinum-certified, chart-topping debut, Gang Signs & Prayer. Within half a decade of the release of his debut EP, he was a Glastonbury festival headliner. Born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. in the south London town of Croyden, he launched his career clashing at youth clubs around his hometown. His performances evolved from grime-only music that showed a love of artists like Skepta to more rap-oriented material that reflected Stormzy's growing appreciation for artists like Drake. Late in 2013 he began uploading his "Wicked Skengman" series of freestyles over classic grime beats; in 2014, he made his official debut with the EP Dreamers Disease. A year later he released the single "Know Me From" along with "WickedSkengMan 4," the first track in his "WickedSkengMan" freestyle series and a Top 20 hit in the U.K. That December, Stormzy performed the single's B-side, "Shut Up," at a match between heavyweight boxers Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. The song jumped into the Top 40 following the broadcast, and the rapper launched a campaign to have the song top the charts during Christmas. This boosted the track to the number eight position, and the number one position on the R&B singles chart. Jorja Smith is an English R&B singer/songwriter whose soulful, jazz-tinged cadence, heartfelt lyrics, and retro sound have invoked comparisons to the likes of AlunaGeorge, Rihanna, and Amy Winehouse, the latter of whom the Walsall-based artist cites as her biggest influence. Biography

Amsterdam's Sam Feldt earned attention in Europe and then worldwide for his melodic house remixes, mixtapes, and collaborations beginning in the mid-2010s. Early releases included 2014's "Bloesem" with De Hofnar and "Hot Skin" with Kav Verhouzer on the Dutch label Spinnin' Records. After a series of live shows in Europe, which he built over time to contain mostly his own productions, he toured North America for the first time in early 2015. "Midnight Hearts" with the Him featuring ANG13 followed soon after, and that spring, Feldt signed with Universal Music for worldwide release of his song "Show Me Love" featuring English vocalist Kimberly Anne. It charted throughout Western Europe, hitting the Top Five in the U.K., as well as landing on the dance and streaming charts in the U.S. By the end of 2015, he'd performed on five continents. There aren’t many young rap pretenders who could write a track one week, shoot its video the next, then watch it fire to nearly half a million plays and counting seven days after that. Then again, most young MCs aren’t Young T and Bugsey, the Nottingham duo whose fierce, eclectic hip-hop has turned them into ones-to-watch, championed by Stormzy, Tim Westwood and many more.

Young T and Bugsey met aged 15, having been aware of each other’s DIY recordings on separate sides of the city.

“Our sound is the both of our cultures and backgrounds without any kinda boundaries or restrictions”, say the pair, who collide murky, bass-heavy beats with sounds from their childhoods: ad libs borrowed from their respective Nigerian and Jamaican parents’ record collections, grime flows inspired by school days rapping over instrumentals nabbed from YouTube, and hooks paying homage to lazy sofa sessions in front of MTV Base. “50 Cent, Snoop, Pharrell – that era was it for us,” laughs Young T. “Hot summer days, you’d still be inside watching MTV Base, the whole day.”

Biography

By combining elements of alternative hip-hop with Jack Johnson-esque cabana pop on early demos, Naples, Florida's Dominic Fike went from unknown to major-label signee in 2018. His debut EP, Don't Forget About Me, Demos, arrived later the same year.

After some demos emerged in 2017, Fike, then in his early twenties, was well covered in the music press for signing a multi-million-dollar deal with Sandy Boys and Columbia Records before even releasing a song. Austin Richard Post (born July 4, 1995), known professionally as Post Malone, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer. He has gained acclaim for blending musical genres including pop, trap and rock, his introspective songwriting, and his laconic vocal style. Biography

West London grime MC Che Wolton Grant (aka AJ Tracey) rose through the ranks of pirate radio, becoming one of the leading figures in U.K. grime's second generation of artists. Grant knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in music, due in part to his parents; not only was his dad a former rapper from Trinidad & Tobago, his mother was a former drum'n'bass DJ from Wales. By age six, Grant had started writing rhymes, coinciding with the first great boom in grime. Although the genre temporarily lost its way, Grant soldiered on, unwilling to give up on his passion for grime. By the time he had reached his early twenties, grime had started another upswing. Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (/ˈʃɪərən/; born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. He attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford as an undergraduate from the age of 18 in 2009. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. In 2017, he released two songs, "Attention" and "How Long", with the former peaking at number five on Billboard Hot 100. Both were included in his second studio album, Voicenotes (2018), which was released to generally positive reviews from critics and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. Don't you think he should do BETTER after the success of Beerbongs? I think so. Even the album opened worse numbers and streaming in general has increased since 2 years ago. Circles is also his best track to date imo.
