festival dates already announced for summer and a dutch vinyl site accidentally leaked details of a clear 7’ out in april

Posted by: Bjork 14th March 2018, 08:35 AM

I also read the 1st single is out in April with a vinyl 7" single released on record store day
Sky full of song, I think thats the title

Posted by: gavindeejay 14th March 2018, 09:57 AM

This has made my day already! I’m so here for this!

Posted by: liamk97 14th March 2018, 11:00 AM

Yes!! I find that you don't hear anything about Florence and the Machine for a few years and then BAM they have music out next month.

Posted by: Shia LeMuffQueef 14th March 2018, 04:34 PM

Title ON POINT and vry similar to the last one.

Hoping for more tracks like HBHBHB and less like that terrible Queen of Peace.

Posted by: Bjork 16th March 2018, 10:18 AM

love Queen of Peace
Queen of Peace >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> HBHBHB
HBHBHB is Florence at her worst imho

Posted by: Dexton 16th March 2018, 10:31 AM

How Big etc. was actually a really great album, so I'm hyped for this!! Whilst the albums before HBHBHB had more successful/better singles, as a whole I think this was my favourite album of theirs to date.

Posted by: dandy* 16th March 2018, 11:21 AM

I really hope that this is good - she's always delivered so far for me, I agree with Dexton that the last was probably my favourite as a whole. Queen of Peace was amazing and is easily my favourite song of hers/theirs now.

Posted by: ionderella 16th March 2018, 10:00 PM

queen of peace is so amazing. making me want to revisit the album now oops

She's stayed really consistent with albums over the years, I hope she continues with this, love the title.

This came up on my Facebook feed again and I'm close to balling. I love her so much.

Posted by: Bjork 20th March 2018, 03:25 PM

I still think her debut is her best, so many great great songs, Cosmic love, Kiss with a fist, My boy builds coffins, Rabbit heart, Dog days, I'm not calling you a liar
Her 2nd was a major major let down, Shake it off is amazing but the rest of the album was a bit tedious
Album 3 was an improvement on her 2nd but besides the singles, the rest were really album fillers, as a whole I prefer Lungs

Posted by: Jüpiter 21st March 2018, 10:47 AM

Florence will also reportedly have a song on the upcoming Elton John album; a cover of Tiny Dancer https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/elton-john-revamp-album-covers-ed-sheeran-sam-smith-farewell-tour-a8257181.html

Mine too, except for her WORST song to date, Queen of Peace!!

Rabbit Heart is a close second, but is outdated or overplayed now. Can't tell which.

So my favourite ALBUMS FROM HER NOW based on what I listen to ARE PROBABLY:

1. HBHBHB - the title track is one of her best EVER, followed by Which Witch? which didn't make it and instead Queen of Crap did dry.gif
2. Ceremonials - here it's all aboot Only if For a Night/ NLMG
3. Rabbit Heart - Cosmic Lurrv Thang

That run of ‘WKOM-HBHBHB-QOP’ is INCREDIBLE, the album was brilliant! I can’t at Meekul not liking Queen of Peace :/ :/

So excited for this, I have no doubts she’ll bring it once again

Posted by: HarryEzra 5th April 2018, 10:44 AM

Confirmed to be playing Radio 1's Biggest Weekend so could we expect new music soon?

Posted by: gavindeejay 5th April 2018, 10:46 AM

I was hoping seeing this thread back that new music is out later today/tomorrow. As she's at the Biggest Weekend we shouldn't have too much longer to wait for new music.

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 5th April 2018, 12:17 PM

I'm sensing a September/October release. So excited!

Posted by: Bjork 5th April 2018, 01:52 PM

is the single still out on record store day? seems to have disappeared from the listings

Posted by: UltraReputation 9th April 2018, 08:20 PM

Album is called High As Hope and is out late June (supposedly 29th). Also rumoured to be ten songs on the album with one of them being called June

Lead single Sky Full Of Song is out this week or next week

I'm so ready! <3

This week please!

"Sky Full of Song" (Music Video)

Posted by: Midge 12th April 2018, 04:44 PM

I'm looking forward to the rousing anthem of a single that is likely to follow, but this is a nice lead/buzz.

Posted by: HarryEzra 12th April 2018, 04:54 PM

This is beautiful I love the video too heart.gif

Posted by: Bjork 12th April 2018, 04:55 PM

amazing vocally but not sure about the song
kinda sounds more like a buzz track saying i'm back than a lead proper single

Posted by: dandy* 12th April 2018, 04:58 PM

It's lovely, I'm enjoying the production being more understated and restrained and just having the beauty of the vocals coming through.

Posted by: Klaus 12th April 2018, 05:18 PM

Hunger is premiering on Annie Mac's show tonight at 19:30!

There will also be a performance of it on SLFN tomorrow.

Amazing! I'll try and catch it on my way home from work smile.gif

Posted by: Jüpiter 3rd May 2018, 04:26 PM

Really intrigued to hear the sound of this one, HBHBHB was such a move forward in sound for her and overall my fave project of hers so far, and I wasn't expecting that to be the case until she dropped the lead.

Posted by: Bjork 3rd May 2018, 07:36 PM

great song (again)

Posted by: gavindeejay 3rd May 2018, 09:09 PM

Great song! Hopefully will set the album up to sell well!

Posted by: Chez Wombat 3rd May 2018, 09:13 PM

Really liking this and A Sky Full of Song, seems a bit more restrained in mood and orchestral than the How Big... era, but it's pretty refreshing hearing that from her.

Posted by: Klaus 3rd May 2018, 09:35 PM

Hunger hasn’t hit the incredibly massive highes of the HBHBHB era yet but still very much liking it! Just maybe not what I would have put out as lead single? thinking.gif

Love her in the video!

Adoring A Sky Full of Song though, think it might be becoming my favourite of her slower songs heart.gif

Posted by: Dexton 4th May 2018, 02:22 AM

Hunger is ok but I want the HBHBHB Florence back, I want something big and booming that will blow me away

Posted by: Theo. 4th May 2018, 02:31 PM

Album cover:

I like "Hunger" much more than "Sky Full of Song" but it's nowhere near as good as "What Kind of Man" as a lead single, it feels too tame to lead the campaign. It feels very personal though and I can imagine it growing. Straight to A List on Radio 1 which is great to see in 2018 biggrin.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th May 2018, 02:37 PM

Tracklist

1. June
2. Hunger
3. South London Forever
4. Big God
5. Sky Full Of Song

THIS!!!

Not sure it's a great first single, and I am missing he big booming tracks. I'd like some ethereal Coldplay Midnight tracks next, but doesn't look it from the tracklist. Here for it anyway. Move aside, HarryErza, I am a much bigger Florence fan than tho!!

I'm sure it was the Brighton date I looked at to have a nosey at prices and I'm sure it was £50-£61.

Just listened to Hunger a few times and it seems pleasant enough but I feel it lacks a bit of oomph that her previous leads had.

Posted by: Josh! 31st May 2018, 01:46 PM

Got standing tickets with three friends for the Glasgow date cheer.gif

Very excited for it as I haven't seen her live since the Ceremonials tour and I was seated for that too. Can't wait to hear some of the HBHBHB tracks live because it was such a fantastic album, hoping for "Queen of Peace" and "Delilah" to make the setlist especially.

Posted by: UltraReputation 29th June 2018, 09:55 AM

Hunger and Patricia are my absolute faves and I'm also loving June & Grace. A great album on the whole <3

Posted by: dandy* 29th June 2018, 11:08 AM

I love it, I’ve really missed having new music from her wub.gif

It felt a little more laid back on the whole but I really enjoyed her (comparatively) quiet moments - South London Forever is beautiful and the general piano vibe of the album is a welcome addition.

Posted by: Queef of Skreech 29th June 2018, 11:42 AM

Critics are saying it is more laid/ stripped back, more personal, but safe. It has been getting like 6/10s

Seems a bit too artsy for me, but I'll still get it

Posted by: Bjork 29th June 2018, 11:55 AM

^agree 100%

Posted by: Klaus 29th June 2018, 07:46 PM

Liked Patricia the most on first listen and I love the end of ‘No Choir’!

It is a lot more subdued then I was maybe hoping for but I feel it will grow with further listens. Part of me is hoping that she comes back within under 2 years with a complete contrast of this album aka an album full of Queen of Peaces kink.gif

Posted by: dandy* 29th June 2018, 10:38 PM

There are lots of subtle touches on this album - it will grow!

YAK

HER WORST EVER SONG NO THANKS

Posted by: Klaus 30th June 2018, 07:20 AM

Suddenly I’m overcome... you’re driving me away

Posted by: Jordan Lee 1st July 2018, 12:08 AM

Enjoyed the album as a whole. There wasn’t an instant stand out to me like with her other albums If I were to pick a favourite I’d probably say The End Of Love but as a whole I didn’t dislike any tracks. Having just ten tracks as well I felt there was no weak tracks or filler on there and I actually wanted more when the album ended.

Listening again at some point through the week as well but good first impressions.

Posted by: Midge 1st July 2018, 11:54 AM

I've had a listen and not fussed. I just don't think Florence is for me. I don't dislike her - there are a number of tracks I enjoy - but that's as far as it goes. I'd love her to work with Calvin Harris again, I think the power in her vocal came across best in her collabs with him.

Posted by: Queef of Skreech 1st July 2018, 12:06 PM

Get out!

This is clearly her worst album but her others are fantastic and real music and not cheesy Calvin fakery

Posted by: Midge 1st July 2018, 12:10 PM

I’m sorry for having a differing opinion wink.gif
I just said it’s not for me. Which is odd because I love alternative music.

When will your Drake faves?

Posted by: Midge 1st July 2018, 12:28 PM

Because I’m a huge Drake fan apparently? laugh.gif

I just find her voice hard to take on a collection, much prefer standalone songs.

Posted by: Bjork 1st July 2018, 12:50 PM

her music and especially her voice is not for everybody
really wish this album was more bold, I miss some tracks in the vein of Cosmic love
or even weird tracks like Kiss with a fist

Posted by: SKepner 1st July 2018, 01:28 PM

The album is pleasant enough after a few listens but Hunger definitely stands out the most along with Sky Full Of Song, Grace and Patricia. 100 Years was also good on first listen.

I think this is what is part of Florence's appeal - the way she changes sound even slightly each album. Shame this will most likely miss out on number one because of Drake drama.gif

Posted by: dandy* 1st July 2018, 10:01 PM

I wonder if she’s been inspired by Tori Amos on this? There’s a few tracks that I think are like her, Big God especially.

Posted by: Bjork 2nd July 2018, 05:56 AM

I actually think she sounds a bit like Lana del Rey in places, getting Blue Jeans vibes sometimes

Posted by: HarryEzra 2nd July 2018, 09:55 AM

I feel like the album gives me Kate Bush teas

Posted by: Jüpiter 2nd July 2018, 05:07 PM

It's an album of sweet songs but it's not really what I wanted from her or come to her music for. Good on her for experimenting though.

"Patricia" is a decent choice, I think I prefer it to "Hunger". I've actually really grown to like "Big God" right now, the best of this era for me at the moment.

Posted by: Bjork 27th July 2018, 06:42 AM

experimenting? think there's zero experimenting in this album, wish she did that, collaborate with lots of new people and push herself and try new things, in this album she's gone bare and simple but not experimental

Posted by: Klaus 27th July 2018, 07:20 AM

No I don’t want collaborations thsnk you, leave everyone else to collaborate with every man and his Khalid and Anne-Marie.

Plus, her collaboration with Lady Gaga clearly influenced her to create her Joanne sad.gif

Posted by: Bjork 14th September 2018, 11:49 AM

been listening to the album a lot and the best song by far is The End of Love, surprised they're not pushing it as single
Patricia is nice but no single material
in perspective it's by far her worst album with only The End of Love being amazing and a couple songs being great, rest just ok

Wasn't a huge fan of this cover either! She really screeches through it. I was fine with it until my Mum pointed it out at the time. I'm okay hearing it now though and the instrumental is ace.

Need to start giving "Patricia" some listens... "Big God" has been my favourite so far this era.

I listened to High As Hope again today and while it’s not my fave album of hers I liked it more today than the first time I heard it. Hope the album can return to top 40 at some point.
wub.gif

Weird comparison but partly reminds me of Didos album Safe Trip Home in the minimal feel throughout. Think it’s am album suited for a particular mood and when you’re in that mood it’ll sound glorious.

Posted by: Mariner's Crotch 22nd September 2018, 08:58 PM

Why she released it against corporate puppet Drake I do not know

Posted by: Bjork 22nd September 2018, 09:01 PM

well, the label planned the release and announced it, and then at last minute Drake announced his album for the same date, guess it was too late to change things

Posted by: Mariner's Crotch 22nd September 2018, 09:06 PM

I can't stand that twatbag. He RUINS music, has people in strict camps to make his shite music, they can't LEAVE THE STUDIO AND HAVE TO CAMP OUT TILL IT'S DONE as he stands and watches eating expensive food, and ruins the charts.

Poor Florence sad.gif

Thing is back innthe day (when Drake was good) him & Florence performed at his debut LDN show & it was magical.
