First round is FREE CHOICE!
Jay and I have got a rough plan for what to send but we want to hear your thoughts. Obviously we're spoilt for choice in rounds that are open like this but SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND could be a really strong start!!

No Good Advice would seem the most obvious choice, although it could also be fun to take a risk this round (after they did so well in the first two rounds) and send a Nicola album track.

I’m not a fan of No Good Advice. Doesn’t mean it won’t do well - lots like it probably - it’s just - edit:not - a personal preference.

Round 4 is ballads & midtempos - as timely as the Call the Shots ballad/midtempo discussion is, we're thinking of saving that for a later round. Perhaps Call the Shots' musical sister The Loving Kind could be a great entry this round though?

I agree. I was saying to Jay and Spiceboy earlier that the Loving Kind and Untouchable are my two favourite GA songs. I adored the direction they were headed music wise when they split up 😭

The Loving Kind has a tempo of 125 BPM which isn't mid-tempo

While Whole Lotta History has a tempo of 135 BPM apparently...
We're not using BPM to decide this because clearly BPM is a somewhat dodgy way of deciding what is and isn't a ballad, midtempo, etc.

I know! I was so frustrated when they split - I loved that album so much and I felt like they were building momentum and moving towards some kind of re-peak. Although I did love Cheryl’s early solo work. That performance on X factor

I'd lean to album version tbh! The single mix seems less popular and I'm not sure the length will be too big an issue when Sign of the Times did well and that's almost as long.

Sound of the Underground was used in round 1! I loooove The Promise and Love Machine but they're more divisive on the whole, and we've got limited free choice options now going forward

I feel like AF Idol has stopped being a priority for us alouders but seeing as we're still in, we might as well continue our fantastic run so far the next round is free choice, and we'd pencilled in Biology but perhaps Call the Shots might fit the mood better right now? (we were planning to send both anyway so we can just swap them round)

Something Kinda Ooooh and Biology - both fabulous choices, Jonjo *.* I'd be happy with either.
Maybe The Promise... it's divisive, but it is their biggest / most signature song remaining (give or take Love Machine).

Something Kinda Ooh! wow at reaching the Top 10 in every round! Surely based on that and two wins so far, it looks pretty likely Girls Aloud will win the contest?

After a disappointing AF Idol 2.0, Jay and I knew we wanted to come back fighting this time round, and we sure did, finishing as the top girl group! We barely deviated from a planned list of entries at the start of the competition and secured two wins along the way, from No Good Advice and Call the Shots, in what was a mostly consistent performance. Sadly, the competition coincided with losing Sarah, and we opted to send Miss You Bow Wow as a tribute in round 9 as it's one of her most iconic moments. We love you Sarah, and we're delighted that Girls Aloud have redeemed themselves this time around!
