BuzzJack Music Forum _ Girls Aloud _ Is Tangled Up the best girl group album ever?

Posted by: HauntedHaus 9th November 2019, 07:43 PM

Do you think this is the best girl group album ever?

If not, what is?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th November 2019, 08:16 PM

It's a yes from me, its the most consistent.

Posted by: HauntedHaus 9th November 2019, 11:32 PM

It is for me.

All Saints 'Red Flag' and Sugababes 'Angel's With Dirty Faces' are competition but I've yet to hear an album that betters this from a girl group.

Posted by: Jonjo 10th November 2019, 09:49 AM

Yes.

Posted by: Spiceboy 10th November 2019, 10:35 AM

No. Spiceworld is wub.gif

I do rate Tangled Up as one of the best though, but I prefer Chemistry and possibly Angels With Dirty Faces over Tangled Up.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 10th November 2019, 11:22 AM

I definitely think it's Girls Aloud's best, but as for overall... I think Spiceworld will always be the one for me wub.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 10th November 2019, 12:19 PM

Definitely my favourite wub.gif On Your Radar comes second for me!

Posted by: Lukuzz 10th November 2019, 02:42 PM

Think Spiceworld would my number 1 of all time. But this would be a close 2nd tbh

Posted by: Jonjo 10th November 2019, 02:57 PM

My top 5 would probs be

01. Tangled Up
02. Spiceworld
03. LM5
04. Salute
05. On Your Radar

Out Of Control would be pretty high too!

Posted by: Jade 10th November 2019, 06:39 PM

Yes I think this is my favourite girl-group album, it's phenomenal wub.gif I think my top 5 would be something like:

01. Girls Aloud - Tangled Up
02. Spice Girls - Spiceworld
03. Spice Girls - Spice
04. Sugababes - Angels With Dirty Faces
05. Little Mix - Salute

Posted by: WinterFreeze 10th November 2019, 07:02 PM

Sugababes - Three for me.

Even the b-sides were amazing.

Posted by: Prettylittlebry 10th November 2019, 07:41 PM

Need to give this album a proper chance. Didn’t like many of the tracks back in the day except for the singles and Close to Love.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th November 2019, 11:00 AM

There's some serious filler on this though, such as 'What You Crying For', 'I'm Falling' and the ghastly 'Crocodile Tears'.

Posted by: Prettylittlebry 11th November 2019, 12:18 PM

Wordshaker is the best girl group album tbh x

Posted by: SKOB 11th November 2019, 01:40 PM

Spice
Spiceworld
All Saints
Hormonally Yours

are better but as far as the albums released in the 00s go, I think it is the best.

Posted by: pippa 11th November 2019, 02:35 PM

It is the best offering from Girls Aloud, but Spiceworld from the Spice Girls is the best album by a girl group.

Posted by: Big Boobs Vjay! 12th November 2019, 07:14 PM

Spiceworld and Saints and Sinners exist yo.

LM5 and Salute?! Lm5 especially, when the title alone gives away how bad it is?! rotf.gif rotf.gif Cloth ears.

Posted by: Atonement 12th November 2019, 08:55 PM

It's definitely up there with the best Sugababes albums.

Silence! 'I'm Falling' and 'Crocodile' are the top 2 tracks of the album.

I found The Sugababes to be a mixed response, i bought Angels with Dirty Faces and Three and found both underwhelming.
Both housed some good songs and equally plenty of songs to skip.

Three, Change and Taller in More Ways are much better imo. Also two albums of The Pussyact Dolls slaps Tangled Up too. And LM5 and Glory Days, and debut t.A.T.u record too. tongue.gif

Posted by: Big Boobs Vjay! 12th November 2019, 10:18 PM

No the greatest girl band in the world album, especially one WITHOUT A TITLE!!!, is better than any girl band album ever.

Where are the Glory Days stans? also Fifth Harmony - 7/27

we really do need another huge girl band in the English-speaking market that sweeps everyone off their feet but idk if this is the right music meta for it

What will we find?

Posted by: Jordan Lee 13th November 2019, 07:09 AM

I don’t even think it’s Girls Alouds best I’d say Out Of Control is their best and that challenges for me as best girl group album alongside Spice and Spiceworld, Three by Sugababes and Little Mix Get Weird.

Posted by: blacksquare 13th November 2019, 12:08 PM

I wonder which girl band album is the most critically acclaimed ever — One Touch?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 13th November 2019, 02:04 PM

As if someone tried to suggest Glory Days. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Pop Life from Bananarama is a great album.
Commercially it did not perform well but a highly enjoyable album.

Posted by: SamJudd 14th November 2019, 02:12 AM

While its Girls Aloud's best album, its definitely not the best girl-group album; I think I have a favourite but my contenders are Spice Girls - Spiceworld, TLC - Crazy Sexy Cool (amazing check this one out seriously?), Little Mix - Get Weird, En Vogue - Funky Divas, Sugababes - Angels With Dirty Faces & Bananarama - Wow. Even Pussycat Dolls debut PCD.

"Tangled Up" - an amazing album with some really strong tracks although it does lose steam towards the end, but the first 8 or 9 tracks are absolute killer. Call The Shots (one of their best singles definitely this elegant electropop ballad is epic.

Close To Love (joyous high-energy romp), the other 2 singles Sexy (No, No, No) & Can't Speak French - are also some of their best releases, the former was a daring but glorious risk that may have been a bit head of its time with rock, electronica, pop all mixed together in a very experimental way that totally works. While the latter is complete opposite a slinky sultry midtempo number with cool synths & a fantastic chorus.

Girl Overboard (WHY wasn't this a single, a firm highlight & probably their best deep cut with its cool 80's gloss & incredible hooks). Control of The Knife (Another potential single that offers something slightly different to the rest of album with its ska influences & cool synths), Fling & Black Jacks are both also strong offerings & very much in vein of what Girls Aloud are all about, creating great thumping dancefloor anthems.

What You Crying For - Is where this album starts to lose me, its okay but the garage sound doesn't suit them & sounds instantly dated. I'm Falling has some fun punky guitars but not really all that memorable & as for the other 2 I have to give this album another spin as I don't really remember them all that well.

This album should have had at least 5 singles, keep the first 3 original singles & have 'Girl Overboard' 4th & 'Control of The Knife' 5th, that would have made this era even more incredible.

"Sexy (No, No, No)"
"Call The Shots"
"Can't Speak French"
"Girl Overboard"
"Control of The Knife"

Posted by: pippa 14th November 2019, 05:28 PM

Girl Overboard certainly should have become a single.

Posted by: HauntedHaus 14th November 2019, 05:48 PM

Girl Overboard and Close to Love were both screaming to be singles. Can't Speak French was... not.

Posted by: Jonjo 14th November 2019, 10:14 PM

CSF is legit the worst on the album :') (It's ok it's just very... basic and the album deserved a better singles run - SNNN > CTS > GO > Black Jacks/Control Of The Knife/Close To Love should have been the run)

Posted by: Jay ☆ 14th November 2019, 11:20 PM

No Can't Speak French slander in my forum, thank you x

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th November 2019, 11:22 PM

Can't Speak French was the obvious single choice from my first listen and remains not just an album highlight, but a discography highlight!

Posted by: Jonjo 14th November 2019, 11:26 PM

It's the pop music equivalent of an STI. Catchy but not any good. x

For me, the 3 killer tracks on here are 'Control of the Knife', 'Girl Overboard' and 'Close to Love' (all waaaay above any of the singles, shame none of them became so).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 15th November 2019, 10:58 AM

Cant speak French was a good single for me.
