Q8

Calvin Harris ft Haim - Pray to God

#35, 2015

This was the lowest peaking song in the quiz and was certainly a chart underperformance by Calvin’s standards, though it was the sixth single from his “Motion” album.
Nonetheless it’s clearly a recognisable one as so many of you managed to get it!

Correct answers: 19.75/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, Dobbo., dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, PeteFromLeeds, Riser, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, Chez Wombat, LewisGT, Ansel, dandy*, uptempo_owww!
3 points (missing HAIM): awardinary

Q9

Shanks & Bigfoot - Sweet like chocolate

#1, 1999

The 8th biggest seller of 1999; they weren’t actually a one hit wonder. However despite including the classic line “sing along yabba dee dum dum” the follow up could only limp to #12, and they didn’t trouble the charts thereafter.

Correct answers: 21/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, Dobbo., dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, Riser, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, LewisGT, dandy*, CJK, Mack., vibe, LiamSime, uptempo_owww!, awardinary

garyfeld thought this would be the most correctly answered, but there were a few misses as it wasn’t everyone’s era I guess!

Q10

Charlotte Church - Crazy chick

#2, 2005

In 2005 the classical singer turned popstar scored her biggest hit with this chorus-less bop.

Correct answers: 20.75/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, Chez Wombat, LewisGT, Ansel, dandy*, CJK, Mack., vibe, uptempo_owww!, awardinary
3 points (title given as “Sexy chick”): Dobbo.

CJK predicted this as the least well answered, but in fact it had a pretty high strike rate.

I considered Sweet Like Chocolate as best guessed, but in the end it was a choice between Firework and... Song 13, hoping the latter was the right pick!

I was obsessed with 'Crazy Chick' at the time cheeseblock.png it's held up decently well.

Q11

Kanye West - Jesus walks

#16, 2004

One of Kanye’s early hits, this certainly wasn’t his most memorable moment although it did better in America.
More of you got this one than I had expected!

Correct answers: 16.5/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, Riser, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, Chez Wombat, LewisGT, dandy*, CJK, uptempo_owww!

Have to disagree with you there, Jesus Walks is a stone cold classic! Although it is 17 years old now ohmy.gif

Q12

CJ Lewis - Sweets for my sweet

#3, 1994

This cheerful reworking of an early 1960s hit kicked off a fairly brief run chart career for this reggae star.

Correct answers: 11/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, Bjork, paulglib, StoneDragon, Ansel, dandy*, LiamSime, awardinary

This one is not only 27 years old but feels very much of its time. It moves comfortably into pole position for least guessed, backed by dan::G, coi and LiamSime, and knocks #5 out (sorry Chez Wombat). But will something else score even lower than this one?

I'm very familiar with 'Sweets For My Sweet' by The Searchers from the 60s but I don't think I've ever heard that reworking ohmy.gif

Q13

Chas & Dave - Rabbit

#8, 1981

This duo created a light hearted musical style known as “rockney”. The song probably wouldn’t go down too well now as it’s about a girlfriend who’s becoming a nuisance because she won’t stop “rabbiting” on, and was featured in a series of adverts for Courage bitter.

Now there was an early wrong answer for this while many of the others still had 100%, but then it rallied big time...

Correct answers: 23.5/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, PeteFromLeeds, Riser, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, Chez Wombat, King Rollo, LewisGT, Ansel, dandy*, CJK, Mack., vibe, LiamSime, uptempo_owww!
2 points (title only): awardinary

I doubt this one is particularly well known (I didn’t know it). In fact vibe guessed it for least answered.

However given that the title features more than 20 times in the intro alone it wasn’t difficult! And in fact it has beaten both Katy Perry and The 1975 to take the lead for the most answered. So that puts 17 of you out of the running for the bonus! sad.gif

Well done for now to jimwatts and Mack. who chose this as the most answered. However will something else still to come get 24 or more?

Q14

Take That - Pray

#1, 1993

This was Take That’s first #1 and the 18th biggest seller of 1993. It surprised me to see that they had 6 Top 40 hits that did not reach #1 before this one.

Correct answers: 20.5/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, Chez Wombat, LewisGT, Ansel, dandy*, CJK, vibe, LiamSime, uptempo_owww!, awardinary
2 points (artist only): Dobbo.

This was guessed both for most answered (King Rollo) and least answered (Mack.), but neither are in the money.

Q15

Kylie Minogue - Chocolate

#6, 2005

Kylie’s run of chart form in the 00s was remarkable - she had 14 consecutive Top 10 hits; 16 if you discount "Santa Baby" which was presumably not an official single (though ironically is now more well known than most of those top tens). This dreamy little number came out towards the end of that run.

I thought this was quite a forgotten song and hence included a bit of vocal in the clip, but you did well with it!

Correct answers: 19/25

Q16

David Guetta ft Rihanna - Who's that chick?

#6, 2011

Neither of the artists involved in this track could do any wrong 10 years ago, and indeed this one joined 2 other Rihanna songs in the Top 10 when it was released.

This is one of my favourite tunes in the quiz; it’s a real belter!

Correct answers: 19/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, Dobbo., dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, n4yr, Riser, StoneDragon, Jade, coi, LewisGT, dandy*, CJK, Mack., LiamSime, uptempo_owww!

PeteFromLeeds guessed this as the least correctly answered, but it was answered well!

Q17

Faith Hill - There you'll be

#3, 2001

Despite being one of the most successful country stars ever Faith Hill’s UK chart success has been fairly modest, and the only time she’s made the Top 10 is with this lovely power ballad.

Correct answers: 15/25
4 points:
garyfeld, Mangø, chrissmith276, jimwatts, dan::G, Bjork, paulglib, StoneDragon, coi, Ansel, dandy*, CJK, Mack., uptempo_owww!, awardinary

This appeared in the semi finals of the favourite Number 3 hits contest here recently, but was nonetheless one of the less correctly answered. Dobbo. predicted this to be the least correctly answered, but that remains #12 for now.
