5 days to go and I am SO excited. First time in AGES that I am going into a concert without checking the setlist in advance. Resisting the setlist spoilers is so hard!!

Oh yeah she did that last night too (:

ENJOY RITA, JOSH!!

She was fabulous! So much energy from start to finish and you forget just how many 11/10 bangers she has once you start to include the features too!

It's far from one of my favourite Rita songs but I think RIP was my highlight of the night, the sultry chair choreography and the pounding bass made it so exciting! Doing It and Hot Right Now really went down well I think too, proper party bangers and they came at the right stage in the show just as the crowd was really warming into the party side of things wub.gif

Summer Love sounded really promising too, I can see that being huge over summer if it's released then!! music.gif

Glad you both had a great time, Theo & Josh! Just two days to go for my date! *.*

By the way - what time did she finish, do either of you remember?

I did really enjoy "R.I.P." but I wanted her to go into the upbeat version after the chairography. I think my favourites were probably "For You" and "Anywhere" - they were the perfect songs to end the set on.

It was around 9:40 I think. I arrived midway through Kara Marni's set, then RAYE begun around 7:15 and was finished before 8:00 and Rita came on at 8:30.

Thank you Josh! *.* Btw the reason I asked is so my Dad knows when to pick me up... I guess I'll just have to text him when Rita comes on stage and say when it's most likely to finish based on that (lmao none of you needed to know these details kink.gif )

Girls, Doing It and Lonely Together were the absolute highlights for me wub.gif
Her voice is incredible and I love how much they put into the background videos and staging.
She really should be up there with the biggest pop girls around at the moment.

(I first posted this on Popjustice forum on Thursday, I saw her on Wednesday evening!)

Rita was fantastic last night! She put on such a high energy/uplifting show.

I’m not sure if spoilers are still required this far into the tour, but: this post contains spoilers. A major TL;DR incoming, sorry!

I’ll start with the two new songs, both of which are great. Summer Love in particular sounds like an obvious hit. Hopefully it’s actually planned to be a single (that is released while it is still summertime!!) because to let that hit potential pass would be a shame and very odd. It also seemed like it would have made a more obvious follow up to the run of Your Song/Lonely Together/Anywhere/For You, artistically speaking. Soul Survivor is very different for Rita and certainly sounds like a strong mid-tempo album track (which she promised is coming later this year... and after last night I’m gagging for it more than I have been since Anywhere came out).

A surprising highlight of the set for me was Hot Right Now. I only ever “quite liked” that song at the time, but the crowd really went off for that one, creating such a feel-good moment that I have a new found appreciation for it.

Body on Me made for a beautiful performance, she looks stunning with the sheet / wind machine. It’s a pity that a solo studio version doesn’t exist, because it certainly works as a solo number.

Other personal highlights: I Will Never Let You Down, Anywhere, Lonely Together and Doing It.

Girls, for all its flaws, was such a sing-along moment. I have to say, as a vibe it did feel celebratory in a live setting. I’ll always find it to be the case that a different approach to the lyrics could have resulted in something quite special, however, I feel like making my peace with the song. I’ll use it and mindlessly bop when I play it. That’s not to say I’ll forget the importance of the conversation that arose, and I really respect Hayley and other artists for speaking out.

I will share this quote, simply because Rita actually said it before she performed Girls (and it was the only part of the whole show I found to be disappointing): “If some people get it twisted, that’s their problem, the theme (? I think she said theme) is a celebration, so - this is for my ladies - are we gonna celebrate tonight?!”

Anyway. It was incredibly evident that as a performer, she’s absolutely ready for arena shows. Her staging has the essence of an arena production; it was the best show I’ve seen in an academy setting. She has a captivating stage presence, she’s very endearing with her stage chat (bar the aforementioned moment) and obviously she’s built up a large number of genuinely big hits. Hopefully she’s able to successfully make that next step up, because I’d love to see her again in a bigger setting (probably with a seat next time though, I’m not as young as I used to be...!). I really hope her label gets their act together and manages to put out the second album this year, because I don’t believe she should announce an arena tour until the album is actually a reality.

Overall her show really lifted my mood (lately I’ve been feeling quite down... but last night I forgot my troubles, and I’m still on a high now - I love when a tour does that for me). I’d consider this one of the most entertaining/feel good shows I’ve seen in a long time. So, that’s what I’ll take away from The Girls Tour, and... I love Rita Ora! TIRO (Touring Icon Rita Ora x). *Patiently awaits the mythical second album*

A brilliant review Jay, and one that echoes a lot of my own sentiments wub.gif

I had the time of my life at her tour last night. There wasn't a single weak moment across Rita's entire set and I sang along to every word (except the two newies x), louder than I ever have at a concert laugh.gif She's a natural born performer and it really came across. It was also the biggest production I'd seen at Brixton Academy, I'm sure they're gearing up for arenas next! Let's hope so cause I'm SO there.

It's hard to pinpoint one highlight as there were so many! I didn't know the setlist before attending (managed to keep my word on that) so I was pleasantly surprised by Black Widow in particular, that was a brilliant moment. I wasn't sure if she'd do Body On Me either but I was SO glad she did, as it was a particular favourite moment. The staging was perfect and it translated so well live. Her most underrated track. Anywhere was an incredible closer of course, I loved that just as much as I'd hoped and more. The new mix of R.I.P. turned me heterosexual.

I've been one of the most vocal supporters of Girls too so naturally I enjoyed that a lot, I'm glad Cardi's rap was played out too! Would've been gutted if she'd removed it as it's possibly my favourite part of the track. Girls followed by Doing It wub.gif wub.gif I must shout out Lonely Together too, it's a huge favourite of mine anyway but it felt incredibly bittersweet last night. Nonetheless, it was a lovely tribute to Avicii and the entire crowd cheered as soon as his name appeared on the screen.

I just want to do it all again cry.gif

Rita has fallen ill and is unable to perform in Bristol tonight. They've rescheduled the show for 29th May.

I hope she has a speedy recovery.

For anyone who missed the UK tour, Rita's set from the Biggest Weekend will be broadcast on the BBC this Sunday. According to the OCC, it will be on One but Radio Times says Two so hopefully we'll have confirmation beforehand.

I'm sure the setlist will be the same minus a couple of songs but I don't think the set will be available as she is performing in Copenhagen the same day.

Looking forward to watching it! wub.gif

I seen her outside in Dundee last night, it was incredibly rainy and she performed for just over an hour, I wasn’t huge on Summer Love but Girls live was iconic!

She never performed R.I.P or How We Do cry.gif
