ohmy.gif at them removing Despacito! When was the last time they removed a song while it was still No. 1?

Surprised at no Zedd/Liam but I guess they'll add it next week. Also thought they might have added 'New Rules' and 'Swish Swish' this week. The likes of Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin/Troye and Nick Jonas have definitely missed the boat now.

Bizarrely they've changed the Rita Ora song to the TeamSalut Remix with Burna Boy unsure.gif

I wish they'd move Matrix & Futurebound up to the B-list sad.gif

Quite recently I think, at least I remember someone asking this same question not so long ago. Could have been 'Shape of You'.

Posted by: Joe. Jul 14 2017, 09:23 AM

Pleased for Kesha! Also expected Swish Swish this week but I assume we'll get it next so it's no big deal. Very bizarre that they swished out Rita for a remix...A
mistake?? Yay at Dua being track of the weekend! And Booooo for Carly's last chance not happening.

Oh yeah, you're right, for some reason I forgot about Shape Of You! Still, it doesn't happen too often.

Great to see Coldplay insta added and pleased to see Duke Dumont being supported! I'm. Surprised they're still bothering with Dizzee Rascal tbh!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jul 14 2017, 09:28 AM

That subtitle got me momentarily excited, not fair!

YAY for Kesha and Duke Dumont/Gorgon City. Seems they're back to supporting Dizzee too!

Re: 'Swish Swish' - are we sure that's even happening now? There'll be no video apparently, Capital have long removed it. It's like they've given up.

*edit - also hurrah for The Weeknd releasing 'Rockin', that is a superb track!

Posted by: Bjork Jul 14 2017, 09:31 AM

big boo, cannot believe they added such a bunch of terrible songs sad.gif Jay Z straight b-listed, that has to be 100% payola sad.gif and the horrible new singles by Coldplay, Dizzie, also that Wolf Alice song s just 3 minutes of noise, no melody, nothing :/

they playlist those and ignore much better songs like Garrix/Troye, Dua Lipa's New Rules, the new Lana, even the new Kodaline is better than all those added

Video is being filmed this week. Kiss FM playlisted it on Monday. Capital will add it again if/when it climbs on iTunes.

The A-List is really looking stale at the moment. HAIM is on it's 9th week on the playlist and Rita/Selena on her 8th plus it takes 7 weeks for Major Lazer to go to the A-List.

The Rita Ora change has to be a mistake, I've just heard the normal version all morning.

Posted by: omrimayo Jul 14 2017, 10:25 AM

Happy for Coldplay, I wish it was Dua instead of Jay Z. Really they need to start support this hit in the making. Now!

Posted by: awardinary Jul 14 2017, 11:13 AM

Yes for Ke$ha! cheer.gif

Posted by: Dexton Jul 14 2017, 11:26 AM

Great for The Killers to be bumped up to B List, would really love for this to take off.

Posted by: Steve201 Jul 14 2017, 11:51 AM

Surprised Wolf Alice have went with Yuk Foo as the lead single, its not really commercial at all.

Good to see them removing songs already at no1, its not like they cant play it still after removal and itll help its sales drop and therefore its streams to 300:1 quicker!

Posted by: jase. Jul 14 2017, 12:09 PM

Yay for Instruction moving up + the adds for Dukegonions and Kesha! wub.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles Jul 14 2017, 12:35 PM

Delighted for Kesha but still feel like there are some pretty weird snubs. Giving up hope on Garrix/Troye now drama.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen Jul 14 2017, 12:47 PM

1Xtra has the Rita Ora remix playlisted and may be an error? The Radio 1 website still lists the original version.

I see it's been corrected now.

I wish we were getting Reminder as the new UK single by The Weeknd too sad.gif Rockin' is just not clicking with me whereas Reminder is very 'cool' sounding imo. A shame only the Daft Punk collaborations have taken off though because the album is jam-packed full of potential singles!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jul 14 2017, 01:46 PM

'Rockin' is so good. It reminds me of Disclosure circa 2013. wub.gif

Too true, it's everything that the real Disclosure x The Weeknd track should have been instead of Nocturnal (plain and boring, although the V.I.P edit was decent)

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Jul 14 2017, 02:49 PM

Loads of great adds this week! Jay Z, Dizzee, Duke Dumont and The Weeknd are all great.

Posted by: cq(uavo)merqn Jul 14 2017, 06:16 PM

Can't believe they snubbed top 10 hit Pretty Girl!

Posted by: No Sleeep Jul 14 2017, 06:18 PM

Ugh why no Carly sad.gif She doesn't strike me as a Radio 2 artist unsure.gif

Posted by: Parallel Reality Jul 14 2017, 11:51 PM

Really happy to see Kesha added! If my memory is correct, she didn't get much support last era did she? I seem to remember they didn't add 'Die Young' until it looked like it was going to become a hit, and I don't think they supported 'C'Mon' or 'Crazy Kids' did they?

Either way, over the moon!

I dunno, it's very wishy washy teen bop. Radio 1 are confusing, they try to be mature and credible mixed with trying to appeal to the youngsters. You never know what they're gonna do! I mean who from their actual target audience is gonna be into Jay-Z "4:44" for instance?

Posted by: Steve201 Jul 16 2017, 10:31 PM

Radio 1 stopped supporting Queens of the Stoneage for the first time??

They play indie music even if it doesn't set the charts alight and try to break new acts which is a good thing imo. As for Jay-z I would say he's perfect for radio 1 imo!

Yeah 8 years ago!

Posted by: Steve201 Jul 17 2017, 07:00 PM

He's like the Foo Fighters/Beyoncé/Coldplay though in that he's musical royalty so can command continued support!

A bit like Paul McCartney in the early 80s!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jul 18 2017, 09:42 AM

What exactly suggests Jay-Z was last considered relevant 8 years ago?

Posted by: Steve201 Jul 19 2017, 11:20 PM

Probably the last time his albums singles were chart hits - prob around the New York era!

Posted by: Capybréra Jul 19 2017, 11:29 PM

He had a top 10 hit off his last album though (which was in 2013). From the songs I've heard off '4:44' he doesn't really seem to be going for hit singles this time, more trying to sell the album (and this is probably for the better, this album has much more critical acclaim than his last one). But still, he's hardly irrelevant...
