Friends co-creater David Crane + Friends star Matt le Blanc + Showtime network.

cross out Matt le Blanc and this sounds good.

starts on BBC2 10pm tonight.

I feel it is at least worth a try, especially as i'm a Friends fan.

According to Radio Times it's vastly unfunny. I might give it a go though, although I can't help but feel distressed I see Matt Le Blanc nowadays. He gives off such loser vibes.

yeah this was crap.

All gags were extremely cheap, I can't see Americans likeing it too much with the amount of British comedy and pisstaking of Americans. Basically, fairly cringeworthy viewing.

I didn't think there was anything 'cringeworthy' about it. I agree that it's not very American-friendly since the comedy is quite dry and British but I really enjoyed it. The network execs were great, especially the one who sounded totally unenthusiastic when she was praising the show. A couple of jokes fell slightly flat but I can't think of a recent comedy where they don't. Overall it was a promising start.

I quite liked it! Like Jark, I thought Daisy Haggard was excellent. I've always loved her, good to see her in something else.
It wasn't anything amazing but was certainly good enough for me to watch next week's episode at least.

I might try another episode or two, but not a promising start at all.

looking at twitter, the general reaction to it is really not good, can't see it lasting.

I get the feeling they are going to overdo that unenthusiastic woman to the point where it loses any funnyness at all.

We'll see what it's like once Matt LeBlanc enters, it's weird how they are selling it on him yet I'm fairly sure they only included that first sequence just to get him into the episode.

That was quite amusing, the Richard Griffiths scene fell a bit flat towards the end but it was funny in an awkward kind of way. Wortth giving another go, it's vastly better than most of the sitcoms the BBC has pumped out recently.

Like Chris said, it's very pisstaking of Americans so I can't see it going down over there too well, but I actually enjoyed it. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's a nice enough idea with a different spin on usual sitcom, definatley worth another watch at least. Certainly looks like it will pick up too.

That didn't look to bad...I'm going to give it a try and see what I think after a couple of eps.

Surprisningly unfunny so far this. Except the girl who looks like Stacey Solomon who made me chuckle once or twice

On the contrary I thought it wasn't quite as good - still plenty of laughs from most of the cast (I love the exec who's sleeping with Merc) but Matt Le Blanc just isn't funny.

I LOVE this show and I'm so happy that its still going in its fourth series. It's very impressive that it is still going considering the initial premise was bringing a TV show over to the US where it completely fails and, in the wrong hands, it might not have been able to carry on beyond perhaps the second series. I think it's down to the strength of building the characters throughout that has allowed the show to, mainly, move beyond working on a failing show. It still feels very on point (with obvious exaggerations) over the workings of a US network even if it is slightly moved beyond that, Eileen particular is so good.

It may be billed as a comedy but I do mainly watch it for the storylines and to see what is going to happen to them, the comedy is just a bonus for me! The latest episode with the crab sequence was very funny and I'm still loving Daisy Haggard's character even if she's rarely in it.

I must admit I didn't love this until season 4, which was brilliant. Any word on a 5th one? Showtime usually renews series while they air.

No news yet unfortunately. sad.gif

Although Matt recently said this: “It’s looking good for season five, season five will most likely happen,”

I see it's still airing in the UK, so maybe we'll know something soon? I hope it doesn't take as much as Season 3 did.
