On the 25th August 2017, Look What You Made Me Do - the lead single for Taylor's 6th album - was unleashed 💗 What's your opinion on the song now and how did you feel about it when originally released?

The official video premiered two days later at the VMA's and received instant acclaim + broke the YouTube record for most views in 24 hours which it still holds *.* this then became Taylor's first UK #1 and fifth American #1 over the next week 💜

This is easily in my top five Taylor songs ever and is my favourite from reputation, it's always up there with my most played songs every single week ❤️

I stayed up til 4:30am when it premiered and I was shook and obsessed on first listen and it hit me straight away *.* hearing the dead line for the first time was a MOMENT. The pre-chorus had me completely shook and I was getting my life to this so badly. I listened to it on repeat for 8 hours with no break and played it over 250 times on the day of release 😂😍 It quickly became my most streamed song of all time <3

Then the video had me completely shook, I was coming back from reading when it premiered so I was exhausted but when I watched the video properly I was completely taken aback. The video is visually incredible and one of my favourite videos of all time and every Look Taylor served was instantly iconic, especially the Taylor Mountain *.* I'm so glad Taylor finally managed to get a UK #1 with this anthem and I think it did pretty well for the lead single (tho it's frontloadedness is made to look a lot worse by the debacle of a mess of releases that came after it in the following months), yh it didn't reach Taylor's high standards but it certainly got hype going and I def think it would've been seen as a much better success had they got the 2nd single right! Also the video was snubbed so badly at VMA's sad.gif

Anyway despite me adoring and being obsessed with the single version, I actually prefer the tour version (which I've posted below) and would have loved that to be the single version! (Without the intro bit so the last 4:10 seconds of the video as the single version + ofc with Taylor speaking the dead part over the instrumental and without the ringing/Tiffany tour version). The instrumental goes off SO badly (the karma verse *.* the final chorus *.* all the choruses in general *.*) and I feel the song would've gotten a better critical reputation had this version been released as the single!! This was the highlight of the Rep tour for me and it explodes live on stage ❤️❤️

Tell me what you guys think of the tour version? ❤️

An absolute classic imo, agreed that it was the right choice for lead! That tour version goes OFF as well *.* it kinda makes me even more sad I didn't go to the rep tour though kink.gif drama.gif

This is still a bop, and it’s basically THE song which made me a Taylor fan ;o I liked the odd single before Reputation (Blank Space especially) but her rapid change in style really worked for me and I’m really glad she kept it up for the rest of the album.
