He's not the lead writer on most songs? That's odd.
There's also a vile lyric comparing himself to a bomb at an Ariana concert so he can f***ing keep it. |

He is absolutely vile for that lyric. I hope this album flops hard.

That's pathetic, not clever and totally pointless. Hope there's a backlash against him
but of course the track is the highest now on Apple :/ |

The first half of this album is a mess. There are a couple of great tracks and some unbelievably crap ones. The tone is messy too. 'Darkness' is chilling and is a powerful message in support of gun control but then that gets immediately undermined by the lyrics of 'Leaving Heaven' and the fast-paced nature of 'Yah Yah'.
The 2nd half is more consistent but apart from the final track doesn't hit many highs. Overall, my favourites are the ones where he goes old-skool and brings back members of Slaughterhouse: 'Yah Yah' & 'I Will'. Regarding the Manchester lyric, it's obviously horrible to listen to because I have a strong emotional attachment to the event but I've listened to songs that reference similar tragedies for years without complaining so I think it would be slightly hypocritical were I to get offended. I totally understand why others are so appealed by it though. This post has been edited by LewisGT: 17th January 2020, 01:52 PM |

has a new track with Ed Sheeran, added now to NMF Nice to see his "break" lasted for a whole... 3 and a half weeks :')Love how he's probably getting away with using such lyrics again, whereas if it was someone else, like, pretty much ANYBODY, they'd be lynched for it. T R A S H |

Love how he's probably getting away with using such lyrics again, whereas if it was someone else, like, pretty much ANYBODY, they'd be lynched for it. T R A S H I mean he is already getting a ton of backlash pretty much everywhere on the Internet / in the media, being mentioned in practically every article about the album, he's hardly 'got away with it'. Not going to end his career or anything but has anyone's career ever ended because of a controversial lyric? Artists these days are sustaining careers through being actual murderers, a crass lyric or two (this is not even the first time Eminem has referenced the Ariana bombing, I knew this controversy felt familiar!) is nothing in comparison. Edgy offensive lyrics has been Eminem's schtick since day 1, it's very disappointing that he still feels the need to do it now but ultimately it's nothing new, I don't see it putting off anyone who wasn't already disgusted by the lyrics on his older songs. I'm sure at this point he just does it to get people talking about his new music. And it's worked again. Hopefully he's at least finally over using homophobic slurs in his music (I've not seen anyone pointing out any on the new album). The song causing the controversy this time is even a collaboration with a lesbian rapper. |
