Ava didn’t release a 1000th version of SBS deliberately for Xmas week like Ed did with Perfect

And Wham didn't have its sales arbitrarily HALVED by ACR, or have its Thursday sales completely made up!

In theory, could Mariah ask for a one-off reset to SCR next November (whilst stilll out of the top 100) to try and guarantee a number 1 for the 25th anniversary

rule says
ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval.
---

I read it as if reset is linked to scheduled promo, which don't think will happen for Mariah

So would it work if they put out a physical format? 25th anniversary CD say.

Yes that could work, the record company I think should just ask to have it changed and say they want to repromote it and the OCC would have to change it.

Anyone contact the OCC yesterday?

This Is Me reaching the highest position of a non #1 song in a year-end chart since Love The Way You Lie.

Except Moves Like Jagger in 2011, All Of Me in 2014, Take Me To Church in 2015, Cheap Thrills in 2016 and Castle On The Hill in 2017! tongue.gif

Good to see One Kiss overtaking God's Plan in the end, can barely even remember how the latter goes.
(sorry I'm late, catching up)

Wow I didn't know so many people on here would be so unhappy at Ava making #1 over Mariah!

I guess its because Ava is a cert #1 anyway for this chart week though!

Again, no one is really upset because Ava ‘beat’ Mariah, it’s more down to the fact it was a ‘close’ race caused by clear chart manipulation and therefore maes it seem artificial.

They are in terms of genres

No, they aren't. Especially if you consider how diverse the charts were in the 90s up to the early 00s.

You just want to believe that. The current number 1 is a pop song, rap gets number 1, this is me an empowering soundtrack song is one of the biggest of the year, one kiss the dance track was the biggest seller of the year. Little mix get pop hits as does Anne Marie etc. Ed can get his easy listening ballads and guitar music to number 1. We have even had 2 novelty number 1s this year in freaky Friday and lad baby.

Those are very general terms. Wanna speak of dance music? You have the same type of dance music charting now until the next trend comes along. 20 years ago you had house, trance, techno, garage, jungle, 2 step, ambient, eurodance and europop making waves in the top10. The dance variety was insane and no genre had to obliterate all the others, they all had their fair share of space.

One genre that isn't reflected at all in the chart is Indie imo!

I mean technically LadBaby is indie angel.gif

Indie pop drives me mad though, Halsey-style singing gives me a headache.

I mean old fashioned bands like The Smiths/Oasis/Blur/Kaiser Chiefs/Franz Ferdinand/Blossoms/1975 and I know they're not all on indie labels but you know what I mean!

Wow it was VERY close!

Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa beat Drake for the EOY number one by only 7,000 combined sales!

Not sure if it's been mentioned but after Christmas chart saw Band Aid and East 17 beaten by the song which was No2 when they were No1. Also Chris Rea was higher than Cliff 30 years on and the 3 1973 Christmas Songs were in reverse to their 1973 positions.
